Major league HR leader Jose Bautista drawing serious trade interest. Teams that have inquired include Giants, Tigers, White Sox, Braves. One reason Blue Jays' demands are high: Jose Bautista's salary next season, after arbitration raise, will be in $5M-$6M range. Cheap power.http://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/19107966754

Tigers. Although we really need a 3b,and a starting pitcher.

What kind of package would it take for the Braves to land him?

So, there appears to be some interest in Jose. Just wondering what your team would realistically give up for him?

Tim Lincecum.

Its clear that Tim is on a downward spiral and we buy low and sell high so it fits well.

if his salary is only 5-6 mil then jays could keep him if they dont get a good offer. but then again his value has never been this high and might not be.

I think a lot of ppl will be surprised to see what he could get on the market. Sure this is his break out year, but he is worth more then a couple of mid-line specs.

Christ we got Yunel for Gonzalez. AA isint gonna deal him for nothing.

Jose Lopez and Rob Johnson and if you need a PTBNL it can be Shawn White.

That may be the stupidest response I've seen to a legitimate question, why did you bother posting if you were not going to take the thread serious. I see how you managed to get 12,000 posts at least. If you want to post your nonsense in a non serious thread, there is about 100 lebron james threads you could post in.

Now to the question, Bautista may fetch a little more then people believe. He has hit 26 HR's this year and 10 HR's after September last year, thats 36 HR in less then a calender season. He is on pace for 44 HR's this year. This guy HAS power, this may actually be his first full season in 3 years. He has not been given an opportunity to play this much, if he stays health he will end up playing 160 games. In 2007 he played 142 games, hit 15 HR for Pittsburgh.

Although I dont know what some GM's may think of his bat, but he is obviously looking real good right now and just like any other player, will want to cash in and if he ends up having a good year after arbitration year then he will cash in. So taking a risk on this guy for $5-6 mill is not a bad thing and shouldnt be hard to sell.

Cheddar, Moz...perhaps the best of both worlds and make it marble.

Either way its not whine and cheese without Boones as your wine.

This seems like a better fit for the White Sox then Dunn or Prince.

How so? They've got only 2 lefties in their lineup, both of them having awful, awful seasons offensively. Might cost them slightly more, but Dunn looks a whole lot better in the middle of their lineup than Bautista.

Yanks could really use his bat

SS Jeter
RF/DH Swisher
1B/DH Tex
3B/DH A-Rod
2B Cano
3B/DH/RF/1B Bautista
C Posada
CF Granderson
LF Gardner

Bautista would play some 1B, 3B, and RF. That gives A-Rod, Tex, and Swish some time at DH to stay healthy. Bautista would obviously spend some time in the DH slot as well.

If the Yankees could swing a deal for Bautista+Downs, they'd be looking great for this year. It would rape our farm system though.

The point wasn't to be original.

The point, which many of you have clearly missed, is that Jose is having an incredibly fluky year.

Maybe if the comparison is made another 5000 times, that will finally sink in.

A lot of scouts say otherwise. And he started his tear last year when he was given regular playing time.

A lot of scouts say otherwise.

Prove it.

And he started his tear last year when he was given regular playing time.

What tear?

His .212/.309/.435/.745 slash line after the ASB last year? That tear?

And when he had regular playing time in Pittsburgh he wasn't putting up these numbers either.

I know you want to believe that Bautista has miraculously transformed into something awesome that everyone in the world wants a slice of....but that's simply not true. 400 PA's of good doesn't outweigh 2000 PA's of crap.

Bautista started receiving regular playing time in late August. 10 of his 13 home runs in 2009 came in September. If you choose to ignore that, then there is no need to continue this conversation.

Feel free to post the words of those many scouts that say this isn't a fluke whenever you feel like it.

Bautista is having somewhat of a fluke year, IMO. He isn't a year in and year out 40 HR player. He's not going to be that in the future. But he isn't garbage either. He's a good player having a great year.
