i thought this said AI MVP as in allen iverson hahaha

thats y AI wont get signed he still thinks he can win the MVP lol

in all seriousness though for now its josh to me BUT its to early to tell could b miggy or josh but dont discount cano or youkilis out...if cano continues what he did in the first half or if youkhas a monster 2nd half with their red sox makin the playoffs with all their injuries this year they have to consider youkk

If Youk can carry his hurt Sox to the playoffs then he could be considered and if Cano keeps up his great numbers and leads the Yanks far then he could be too.

Glad to meet a rational Sox fan.

If Hamilton keeps the pace he is on, or even close to it, he should win it. I'm not a homer, but him carrying this team to their first playoff birth in 11 years while being top 4 in every category? Winner Winner chicken dinner.

Lol Youkilis:facepalm:

You should be facepalming yourself.

He's been the best hitter in the AL the past couple years; only career years by Cabrera, Hamilton and Morneau are basically ahead of him.

With a little regression I could see him definitely being in the discussion.

That being said, if Cabrera leads in RBIs and homers by the end of the season then he'll win it because that's what the voters look at.

EDIT: Not to mention he does deserve it right now.

Certainly you can argue cases for both, but you need to wait for the end of the season to make a decision. As of right now, I'd like to think Hamilton gets it becuz of his teams performance as of right now, but again, Hamilton has a lot more help on his team than Miggy. Also, look to Robbie Cano as he is the best hitter on a Yankee team with several underperforming sluggers. If he can put up some numbers like he did earlier in the season and pop his average over 350 he certainly could get the nod.

to say Cano is playing over his head isnt very accurate, he's already had a season where he hit over 340 and almost won a batting title. hes also been progressing with the bat and his power for the past several yrs becoming more disciplined. i believe anyone who underestimates Cano this season and in the future is surely mistaken.

As of right now, I would say:

1) Hamilton - by virtue of a recent hot streak. His average is over .350 with great power numbers.

2) Miggy - can flip-flop with Hamilton by the day, basically. Today, he is 2nd.

3) Cano - slowed down a bit, but still batting .330+ with good power numbers. Team also has best record in baseball, which helps.

4) Youkilis - seriously, without him, the (injured, not bad) Red Sox would be dead in the water and planning off season vacations.

5) Morneau - Solid all around year. Injuries will take him out of the discussion.

Hamilton(LF) 167 OPS+
Cano(2B) 158 OPS+

I'm sorry but as good Hamilton has been i'll take the great stats in a key defensive position.

This reminds me of the debate we had with Holliday and Utley.

i'm not being a homer but if miguel cabrera is just as good and drives in more runs than hamilton, cabrera wins. not to discredit what hamilton has been doing. very very good ball player. this should be about the triple crown. not just mvp

No, this should be about the MVP and not the triple crown because this is a thread about who the MVP is, not who is leading the triple crown stats.

Well there is a difference between who I think the voters will vote for and who I think is actually the most valuable player.
