Since Team USA is down two centers I wonder IF it wasnt for Andrews injury would he able to play for Team USA or even be considered to play on the team?

No. I would rather that when the season ends, they box Bynum in bubble wrap until the following season.

please noooooooooooooo!!! He doesn't even last an nba regular season!!! He has been injured or barely able to play the last 3 playoffs and final appearances!!! We need him healthy for phil's last year attempt at a 3peat!!! Its amazing we even have 3 finals appearances and 2 straight championships with him being injured when it matters most!!!

No the NBA season is more importnat, you dont get paid for competing in the Olympics... There should be a clause in his contract that he can only play for the Lakers, no olpympics for that matter no summer pick up games either not even playstation NBA live......

Bynum would obviously be a good fit for the National team but I really wouldn't want him going and im sure the Lakers organization wouldn't let him due to his recent trend of injuries.

GUYS RELAX!!!! HE ALREADY TURNED DOWN THE OFFER TO JOIN THE OLYMPIC TEAM THIS SUMMER WAY BEFORE HIS INJURY.

then of course, he was blasted by all the fake fans on here for not wanting to play with the best players in the nba. love it.

He still has to have surgery and rehab, I don't see him doing anything but trying to get his muscels and legaments around the knee stronger. Take it from someone who has had 9 knee surgeries, the best protection is building up around the joint

he is a good fit for a couch where his knee is presumably safe

Really, this subject needs to be approached more broadly.

No, Bynum shouldn't participate. That's simple.

Even further, however, Team USA needs to come up with a better way of selecting its players, because as Mark Cuban pointed out, it's just not worth it for teams who are so heavily invested to risk their players to this.

I think he deserves a shot if he wants it. Drew is the Lakers future (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd-FLEDTfao).
