Given that you are probably a Phillies fan, do you really want to subject yourself to this? It's not too late to add a "just kidding" at the end of your post.

In case you are really slow - the answer is clearly Pujols. If you don't understand that, maybe you deserve the beating you are certainly about to take.

Im glad you completely forgot to mention Pujols winning the MVP in 2005.

Actually, I answered your question when I said that the answer is clearly Pujols. Glad to see that you can read as well.

For the record, Youkilis, Cabrera, Morneau, Gonzalez and others are all miles ahead of Howard as well. There is more to the game than homers and RBIs (which is a team stat by the way).

What a fail thread. Even though Howard has more homers, Pujols has a significantly better OBP and SLG. Plus he's much better on defense. Anybody who thinks Howard is even close to as good as Pujols is a fool.

And lol @ "Pojuls"

All you need to know: Career Numbers

Pujols:

OBP: .426
OPS: 1.050
SLG: .624

Howard:

OBP: .373
OPS: .953
SLG: .580

Not even close imo.

its not a fail thread.. there isnt a stagering differnece in numbers.. i did spell Pujols wrong on the title thread. i knew who'd get the the majority/popular vote. i just wanted to see if there were other opinions.

It's like this:

Ryan Howard shouldn't even be mentioned in Albert Pujols' presence.

Pujols will likely be one of the top 10 greatest players of all-time, Howard will be a fringe Hall of Famer at best.

Who is Pojols? He must be great to be compared with Ryan Howard yet I have never heard of him before....

I thank you for taking me by the hand and explaining Pujols' career to me.. i really do. i know and followed Pujols since he was a rookie.. the whole point of this thread was numbers since 06. **** it this thread is a fail.

Fine, since 2006:

Albert Pujols has a 38.1

Howard is at 20.3

It isn't even close, Albert Pujols has been the best player in baseball for the past 5 years, Howard doesn't even belong in the top 10.

He won an MVP in a season in which he wasn't even the most valuable player on his own team, let alone better than Pujols.

Ryan Howard is a very dangerous hitter, but he is a 1st basemen with a poor glove and isn't anywhere near as good as a hitter, fielder or even baserunner as Albert Pujols.

So yeah, there you go.

I'd take Votto over Howard,.

You can put whatever silly pictures you want in your post. It doesn't change the fact that your statement that Ryan Howard is either the #1 or #2 1B in all of baseball is insanely idiotic. He is not and never will be close to Pujols.

Youkilis (and his 21.3 WAR since 2006) is better than Ryan Howard (and his 20.9 WAR over the same period). While that one may be close, Howard is not even in the same ballpark with Pujols (38.1), Cabrera (25.1), Teixeira (22.3), or Adrian Gonzalez (21.3 and 3 years younger).

Morneau and Votto are comparable but significantly younger and in better shape, so most people would take them over Howard as well. As I said before, there is more to baseball than HRs and RBI - you may want to learn that before you go around acting like other people don't know what they are talking about. The thread is only a fail because you are a ridiculous homer.

I'm a big-time Ryan Howard fan, I think he's one of the top 1st basemen in the major leagues but Pujols is the obvious answer here.

Yes, there is.

Look at stats that matter, like OBP, wOBA, and WAR

Ryan Howard is a very good hitter. But, to compare him to Pujols or to say that he is one of the top 2 first basemen in baseball is vastly overrating him.

its not a fail thread.. there isnt a stagering differnece in numbers.. i did spell Pujols wrong on the title thread. i knew who'd get the the majority/popular vote. i just wanted to see if there were other opinions.

Here you go:

Pujols: ------------ Howard:

BA: .332(+.065) -- .282(+.009)
OBP: .426(+.087) - .373(+.017)
SLG: .625(+.196) - .580(+.144)
OPS+: 171 ------- 142
RC/162: 152 ----- 122
RC/G: 9.8 -------- 7.9
Rfield: +106 ------ +19
RAR: +786 ------- +204
WAR: 80.1 ------- 20.6

So Howard has a 20.6 WAR with 3546 PA's, and Pujols has 4 times as much WAR with 6486 PA's - or less then double more....

RC/G means 9 AP's generates 9.8 runs per game and Howard 7.9.

AP's OPS+ of 171 is good for 7th all time, Howard's 142 is good for 64th all time.

Howard is a good valuable player in his time, AP is historic, that's what the eyes and the numbers say.

Youkilis among others clearly outdoes Howard, please try and understand why.

This is just stupid. No other player in this era should be compared to Pujols'. He's clearly the best player in the game and has the chance to go down as the best ever.
