Larry Hughes says he's down to Lakers, Celtics, HEAT and Bobcats...
link http://twitter.com/TheRocketGuy/status/18944082397

Hughes is looking at a number of teams including the Charlotte Bobcats, Boston Celtics, Miami HEAT and Los Angeles Lakers. While the latter three may give Larry a better shot at a title, the Bobcats may have a bigger role for him.

If we cant get Barnes nor Tmac nor Brown nor Thomas....maybe....Hughes should be our plan E at this point....Horrible defense...I like his 3 point shot but he's not a facilitator which is what we need. Plus he gets hurt just as much as Tmac...But Tmac has more of an upside...

Don't think Hughes would be a good fit. And for bocajr22 Sasha does play Defense. I say sign shannon. Also the three rookies (Caracter, Ebanks and Linn) and if something is missing look for a trade during the season.

hmm Larry, and Thomas? not bad at all mitch time to move the king? checkmate.

Fisher/Blake/lin
Kobe/Larry/sasha
Artest/Ebanks/Walton
Pau/Odom/Caracter
Bynum/Thomas

I like Brown but not a good fit for the Lakers more of an up tempo player.
now that the d league is down we can sign 14 players

Have the Lakers come out and said they even have interest in T-mac or Hughes...??

I know of Kobe trying to recruit Kurt Thomas but the other two....

Shannon is the only other guy i know of that has been contacted by the Lakers and that new kid from Harvard....the PG. Lin....

I don't even think the Lakers are even remotely interested in Hughes or T-Mac.

this is a hard pick i like brown but don't think he is the right fit. Bell and Barnes had fit best. Last year la needed a shooter and scorer off the bench. hmmm who fits best Larry or Tmac this is hard. I think La should roll with tmac 6'8" versatile can play both sg/sf and score off the bench and help Odom and Blake. just not sure about his 3pt stroke.

Thats what they all say and then turn to play for more $ and play for the Bobcats

If you are going to play the Lakers, there is no better team to play for sadly :laugh2:

I'd point this out:
Brown - In 14.1 MPG he averaged 4.9 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 0.9 APG, 39.3 FG%, 28.1 3PT%
Hughes - In 14.5 MPG he averaged 6.0 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 1.5 APG, 47.1 FG%, 40.0 3PT%

And then I'd say while he has been hurt in the past like T-Mac, he has actually played much more and his skill set would make him the ideal player to play with Kobe and Ron as well as behind both. If he chose to come I'd actually like him better than McGrady or Barnes as I forgot he was a free agent. He also has triangle experience as he was the PG on those Jodan/Collins Wiz teams that ran triangle sets

He also basically ran the Princeton offense alongside Arenas and Jamison, and was the starting guard on the Cavs Finals team. The guy just knows how to play and has all the qualities Phil likes. Can handle the ball, can cut off it, can defend, long arms, and quick hands. His health just gets the best of him because he lays his body out on the line, but for the $1.8mil you would be hard pressed to find a better wing reserve.

I do disagree that him staying with the Bobcats would be about choosing money over winning though. It would be more about loyalty to the guy who dealt for him back in Washington in Jordan and to the coach he credits for showing him the game in Larry Brown back as a young kid on the Sixers.

The Lakers have not expressed any interest in Hughes as far as I know ... However, the FO did say that the Lakers would entertain the notion of signing McGrady, but only if he was willing to play for the veteran's minimum ...

sasha tries to play defense, he gets an A for effort...whatever that means. unfortunately real defense does not involve fouling every 2.5 minutes you're on the court and getting techs to rile up the other team.

For those claiming Sasha plays better defense, Hughes does have 1 more appearance on the NBA All-Defensive 1st Team than Sasha will ever have. Sasha is "pesky" but that's about the limit of his defensive prowess.

^ Yes, i thought Hughes had a mention of an all-something defensive team somewhere. His vet experience is what we need behind Kobe and Ron. Not the worst option out there, especially for vet min.

And for the poster (idawg??) that wasn't sure if T-Mac could stroke the 3. He once shot 7 or 8 3's in the first half of a game. So yeah I think he can dial it in from the arc. (Unless it was 7/34 of course)

no thanks:worst chucker in the league

very inconsistent jumpshot also, he relies on that too much cause he's lost a step

I say he's a slightly better version of brown

How do all these small time free agents say that it is down to the Lakers and a few other teams.....IF WE NEVER OFFERED THEM A CONTRACT!

Do these guys just assume that we want any role player until our roster is full?

Sasha is know as a pesky defender, Do you watch Laker's Basketball or just read box scores?

Cimos21
07-20-2010, 12:18 PM
Sasha is only good at three things:
(1) pissing off the opposing players
(2) pesky defense - which is usually interpreted by the refs as foul defense
(3) picking up hot Hollywood broads

people who don't think hughes can play defense are absolutely clueless...

this guy is a real good fit for the lakers....

in fact, lakers tried to sign him near the deadline last year when he got bought out...

I would take hughes for the minimum in a HEARTBEAT!

of course he did...

this thread has taken on typical PSD evolution...

poster comes in... knocks player (not a good defender)

lemmings follow the leader off the cliff by agreeing with his post...

the myth that Hughes is not a good defender is solidified by the mindless...
