The Memphis Grizzlies return all 5 starters and have only improved their bench this year. With all the changes teams have made in the Western Conference, can they make a serious run at a top 5 seed in the west?

Hell no. Its memphis, that group is only average. They can make 7th maybe 8th seed, but anything higher than that is pure blasphemy....

No. I think that Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Utah, Los Angeles, San Antonio, Portland, and Denver at least are all better.

They might even be last in their division. . .

They sure have the talent and depth to do so. However, it'll be tough to compete with the rest of them.

No.

THey lack a good pg they lack a good bench.

They have four players that can score 20 a game given the touches wich will lead to ego problems specially given THREE of them are in contract year and One fo them will think he has the right to be the official ballhog because he has a max contract.

Marc vs Thabeet for minutes may become a nother headache if its true thabbeet is looking better.

They should decide to keep Gay ( since they resigned him) and only ONE out of Mayo, Marc and Zach and trade the other two For a SOLID PG another starter who is GOOD at DEFENSE Better Bench, Draft Picks

I think they have a real shot at making the playoffs but as crooner said they need to keep their egos in check to do so.

Oh god no. No way. Minimal depth and no true PG really hurts your chances. Great core in Mayo, Rudy and Gasol though.

If they arent in contention for a playoff spot or things arent going well around the all star break zack randolph will be a HOT comodity!

Yes, I can see them making the playoffs. I have a feeling that they will have a better season than the Suns.

thei worst case secenario if egos run the place and ruin it all is finishg jsut above the wolves.

If they play togheter and coheive as a TEAM where all their fourmain men score around 15 to 19 ppg i can see them finising above this teams,.

Wolves, CLippers, Warriors, Suns, Kings, Hornets, Rockets,

SO thats a 7th-8th seed

They can and probably will make the playoffs but I don't think they'll make a serious run.

if they can get a decent 6th man, and a PG they can. I hear they're tryin OJ at PG this year. I thought they shoulda let Rudy go and kept Ronnie Brewer. I think OJ has more offensive potential than Rudy and would be better off leading the team. I thought a core of:

PG: Conley
SG: Mayo
SF: R.Brewer
PF: Z-BO
C: Gasol

plus a good off-season addition to come off the bench woulda been better for them. With this current team I think they can grab 8th at best, but we'll see.

Not a chance.

Right now you have the Lakers, Thunder, Jazz, Mavs, Nuggets, Spurs, Blazers and the Suns as your top 8 teams, I could see them maybe pushing for a 7-8 seed and knocking out the Blazers or the Suns but that's it.

*Giggle* No.
Have you seen the grizzly backcourt, too undersized and not enough talent.
You can't have be a top 5 west team with a Conley, Mayo backcourt.

Rudy Gay will be an all star, Zach will not.

7th or 8th seed.

Gay? with dirk, Anthony, Pau, Durant on the foward ballot??? let me doubt it.

The best chance in the team to get to allstar is Marc Gasol and it wont be easy with Ming in the centers ballot, bynu, kaman and Duncan

Not top 5 but we could possibly get 7 or 8. Certainly higher if they'd send us to the Eastern Conference. We sit in the hardest *** division in the whole league..........

No, Memphis can make a low playoff seed but that's it. They don't have the depth or star player to get farther yet. I think OJ Mayo can be their star soon, but not next year.
