ESPN radio in Atlanta is reporting the Cavaliers are close to sending Shaquille O'Neal to the Hawks in a sign-and-trade for Marvin Williams.
It has been widely believed that Shaq would return to the Cavs, but several teams, including the Hawks, are interested. Add in the fact the Cavs have long been interested in Marvin, and it looks like this deal may get done soon. Stay tuned

I know it has been reported as a possibility for quite a while now, but now it looks like this deal may actually happen.

I'm not sure why Shaq is still playing to be honest? He doesn't seem to have any direction at this point of his career... I mean he isn't playing for a ring by signing with ATL and I doubt he is playing for money...

The Hawks can contend with shaq. Even though the team flamed out in the second round, they are still just gonna get better with guys like Smith and Horford improving, and finally a true center for them in Shaq. Should be good to watch.

Williams - Parker - Williams - Hickson - Andy

Pretty good defensively, offensively though they are terrible

Mo Williams
Parker
Marvin Williams
Jamison

I like it for both clubs.
Although I really see Shaq being moved by the deadline to a contender.

Great deal for both sides. Marvin will have a fair shot to sign and of the Cavs can sign a big man, they will be looking good for the future.

I don't think the Cavs will do anything, though, no playoffs.

Honestly, I'm are the Cavs still relevant?
What did they do before Lebron was there? (other than lose)

God I hope this happens for the Cavs sake.

Really don't want this to happen as a Hawks fan.

Fair trade for both teams, not enough for cavs to make the playoffs, or the hawks to make it out of the second round.

to be honest, if the hawks roll with

Bibby
Joe Johnson
Josh Smith
Al Horford
Shaquille Oneal

i think they could make some major noise

Thanks dude. People are just haters because it's the Hawks.

There quick to say Knicks is playoff bound and Bulls are contenders. But the #3 East team this past season adds Shaq and they can't contend? Haters.

I still think the Hawks should keep Marvin Williams.

The Hawks are about to be legit next year. I wouldn't be all that surprised to see them make a run to the conference finals.

The Hawks aren't any better than they were last year. I don't think Shaq really helps them jump any hurdles. They're the 4-5th best team in the East. I actually think, even despite their lack of size, that they are better off with Marvin.

But this would be great for Cleveland.

from Brian Windhurst on Twitter --- #Cavs & Hawks have talked but there's no sign-and-trade w/Shaq coming. Doesn't sound like either party is very interested now.

Thanks.

Yeah we got spanked in the 2nd round, but nobody ever says we were the youngest team to make the 2nd round last year, and will only improve.

Shaq doesn't need to play alot. We are a 50+ win team without him. He is for 2 things, ticket sells and D Howard. It isn't like we can win our division. Just get to the playoffs and bring out Shaq.

Look at the line-ups we can roll with all season:

Bibby/Joe/Smith/Horford/Shaq

Teague/Crawford/Joe/Smith/Horford

Bibby or Teague/Joe/Evans/Smith/Horford with Jamal and Shaq off the bench.

:laugh2: Add the slowest oldest player in the league, to the youngest most athletic team...makes sense:rolleyes:

I don't know what to believe, because we don't even have to trade Marvin for Shaq. We can sign Shaq with the MLE.

The thing is, rumors said Joe contacted Shaq about joining the team, so I don't know if the teams even want this.
