Good thing for the warriors. Maybe they wont be the most dysfunctional team in the NBA anymore, in terms of management and front office work.

Nice Business Move. Its always nice to buy a team when they ****, so when you turn it around you make hundreds of Millions. Plus their roster isnt that bad. They have a nice piece in Stephen Curry, but other then that i would tear down the team and rebuild. Trade Ellis, Biedrens for cap relief and/or Draft picks. This owner Will Turn the team around. Fire the GM! So Lucky you have new ownership! Sometimes a new owner is all you need to change the team to a consistent contendor.

Well, I wish -- but unfortunately NBA has a salary cap. It will work out in our favor come extension time, though.

I'm just most excited that this new ownership means a new GM, and a new coach. Seriously - huge. And that fact that it's Ellison? That's cream on top.

Well Can't we go over but have to pay a Luxary Tax if u do?? Can someone explain the what happens when a team goes over the Salary Cap???

Here is more proof

OAKLAND, Calif., July 14 (UPI) -- Software mogul Larry Ellison
was on the verge of buying the NBA's Golden State Warriors Tuesday, sources told the San Francisco Chronicle.

The newspaper said Ellison was high bidder for an 80 percent stake in the franchise currently held by majority owner Chris Cohan.

The price tag for the acquisition has been estimated at between $315 million and the record $401 million paid for the Phoenix Suns in 2004, the Chronicle said.

Ellison, founder of Oracle and the head of the syndicate that won the America's Cup this year, has been pre-approved by the league and will not likely see any opposition to the purchase, the report said.

You can't just go over by signing a bunch of new players. Once you're over, you can't sign guys from other teams, and you can't do trades where you take back too much more salary. That's the whole point of the cap, to stop rich guys just buying the best players.

The way teams get over is by using the exceptions - the most common being the Larry Bird exception (which allows you to re-sign your own players even if it takes you over the cap) and the Mid Level Exception (which allows you to sign someone to the league average salary once a year).

So over time having more money will mean you can maintain a team over the salary cap (like the Mavs and Lakers), but you still have to draft/trade for/develop the players - you can't just sign as many guys as you want in free agency.

Ellison buying the Warriors can make GS a threat to the NBA. A man of his caliber and winning mentality does not like to lose. Hes the 6th richest man in the world for a reason.

Im not a Warriors fan at all, but you have to acknowledge when the competition gets better. Hes a smart man with a big ego...and last time I checked, MJ and Kobe fit that description.

 great purchase by mr. ellison, and a great this for GS fans, you guys have a great city and deserve an owner willing to pay the price to win. I dont think he will be quite as outragous as Cuban, but his ego could turn him in to a very active owner which I tend to enjoy watching.

enjoy david lee. he's the man :(

if only we could have a new owner :( :(
