View Full Version : Stern says Miami's Big 3 acted within rights

"NBA commissioner David Stern congratulated LeBron James on his decision. He just wishes it came without ``The Decision.'' Stern said Monday he would have advised James to tell the Cleveland Cavaliers of his choice to leave for the Miami Heat earlier than he did, and that the two-time MVP's public announcement shouldn't have come in a made-for-television special that attracted nearly 10 million viewers. The commissioner said James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh violated no league rules in discussing free agency among themselves, and that the league isn't investigating how the Heat managed to land all three. That doesn't mean Stern didn't take issue with certain elements of free agency," http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comments/stern-says-miamis-big-3-acted-within-rights-387205.html

I hope everyone can move on now.

It's not like David Stern's righteousness and honesty are highly regarded anyways...

But still this shouldn't even be brought up. Fact is Miami cleared enough space to bring all three, they all wanted to play together and that's that.

I didn't ever really think it broke the rules, I just don't know what 2 of best 3 top players would wanna share their Legacy, I will always remember Bird,Johnson,Jordan and even Russell as the great championships winners. This team at least for now will be remembered as a Cop out team. And No I am not saying they are or wrong or anything but the media makes it sound like they are trying to make everyone sound like a heat fan. Yes all the greats had a All-star teamate, But they were not 3 superstar franchise kinda guys.

NBA must have the worst CBA in all of sports.

I don't think anyone ever questioned if they acted wrongly.
In fact, I don't think people have much a problem with Lebron going to Miami at all.
He'll be scolded for bailing on the Cavs and joining a superteam, but the biggest thing will always be, how he did it.
He's become a diva

NBA must have the worst CBA in all of sports.

I don't get why NBA officials and owners just set things the way they want it and if players threaten to strike, then let it happen.
Bring in a bunch of Dleaguers to replace them and you'll maybe see teams like the clippers or raps win it all. Even if it's only for a year or two, it'll change things up and keep the league going.

That's what should have been done during the NHL and MLB lockouts of the last decade plus

i am 100% against the LeBron hate but you have made NO point whatsoever there. No sense at all.

Well its not like he was going to come out and publicly say this was the wrong move and that Lebron had no right to do this. I personally think though he's pissed off but just not saying it

NBA CBA is a joke, it is obvious that wade was acting as an agent of riley the whole time, but there is no way to prove it

i think stern should have gotten in the middle of these guys a little sooner just to see what was going on and maybe "advise" them so it didnt turn in to such a fiasco. I knew he would never actually charge them with tampering

Stern also said that LeBron went about the whole thing the wrong way.
