View Full Version : Best Bench in the NBA?

Well, if there's one good thing to come of the Suns signing Hedo and adding Childress it has to be that we have easily the best bench in the league. Too bad our front-line won't be able to stop a toddler...

Goran Dragic
Josh Childress
Jared Dudley
Hakim Warrick/Gani Lawal
Channing Frye

That's the only thing keeping me going at this point... Can anyone come up with a bench that rivals that one?

I think the Bulls, Rockets and Suns are going to be the only teams in the NBA that actually has a scoring and defensive bench that can actually win games, maintain the lead and chop down the opposing team's lead. These team's benches will only match each others and flat superior to the other team's benchs since nobody else coming in here to claim how good/great they think their teams benches will be.

Camby is a defensive player of the year who will be backing up greg oden.

Rudy Fernandez had drawn LOTS of interest from several teams and could easily start as a 2 or 3 for a lot of teams.

Babbitt and his NBA career are ahead of us but could be a starter on a lot of teams by midseason...he won't get much work in PDX though behind B.Roy.

Bayless has impressed many in the league and would probably be a starter elsewhere but he has been stuck behind Miller and Blake the year before that. He again won't receive a TON of playing time this year but should be good backing up Miller and possibly sharing time with Patty Mills.

Most teams don't have a defensive player of the year on there bench, much less a guy like Rudy Fernandez (set the 3 point record by a rookie) ect... coming off their bench.

This is the main reason Portland was able to win 50+ games this last year even though they were devastated by injuries.

all of the above players shoot over 40% from the field (minus babbitt of course) and have stepped up when the starter has had issues (injuries ect...) which is the main job of the bench player, excel and be a difference maker when you get in the game.

I'd say Portland and the Suns ... though if I were to pick 1 I'd go with Portland, but each team has guys who are worthy of starting on other teams. It's a pretty solid bench.

I'd also say the Nets have a pretty solid bench coming along even though they're very young. So I wouldn't put them in the running for best bench now, but potential wise they very well should be at the top.

And lol @ the Heat bench. The D-Leaguers :p

Magic:

Marcin Gortat
Brandon Bass
Mickael Pietrus
Chris Duhon
JJ Redick (orlando expected to match bulls offer)
Ryan Anderson

This bench gives you defense and outside shooting and most of these player can start for a few teams. The price you pay for having the second highest payrollin the league.

I'm a Celtics fan, but at the moment they don't have a fantastic bench.

PG: Avery Bradley (19 years old, not developed yet)
SG: ...Avery Bradley? Undersized for the position...
SF: Luke Harangody? Young, a bit big and slow for the small forward spot...
PF: Glen Davis is a solid offensive player off the bench, and provides good energy.
C: Jermaine O'Neal when Perkins gets back, but if that isn't soon then there will be no backup center, either. Semih Erden?

Not all that impressive at the moment.

Denver has the best and worst bench in the league at the same time. With Ty Lawson you have one of the best back up PG's in the league but then you have JR and Bird who when they are doing well are huge JR is one of the top SG's in the league when he is hot, but they can just as easily be two dopes that do nothing. We don't really need a SF but another big should be on his way.

I'd say when our bench is on we would kill any other bench but at the same time our bench can kill us.

Miami easily has the best bench. Oh wait, they havent even filled out their starting line up yet. My bad.

Seriously, I'll go with the Spurs depending on the Jefferson situation. they will likely have Splittner starting with Duncan, Ginobili and Parker and will have McDysse, Hill and Blair coming off the bench, so depending on how they handle the Jefferson situation, they will be pretty deep.

But this question is a little premature since the offseason has just begun and we have no idea where most players will end up next year.

Haslem-One of the most loyal players in the NBA, i have faith he will be back
Miller-Already reportedly agreed to terms...
Joel Anthony-Beast, we can sign him without affecting our cap at all
Varando/Pittman/Butler- our 2nd round picks, all are ours with no effect to cap

That leaves iverson as questionable.. SUCK IT..

HEAT WILL HAVE ONE OF THE BEST BENCHES IN THE LEAGUE, TAKE THAT TO THE BANK

Actually the reports are that we will resign him.

I've seen every one of your 9 posts on PSD. I wish you wouldn't have signed up. Your just talking out of your *** and it's obvious. J.J. is a Bull, Magic aren't re-signing him.

Do you think if he performs well Howard can start at SG. IMO a healthy/ prime Josh Howard >>> Luol Deng. But its very unlikely that'll return to that form.

Well, If we were to sign him, and If he were healthy, I still think Luol Deng is better. Deng is a much better defender, Rebounder, I'll give Howard the offensive edge, and Howard's definitely the better outside shooter. It's close though. I think Howard COULD start at SG, but he's a better fit off the bench as a sporadic scorer. J.J. is actually a quality starting SG for us.

Easily the T-Wolves. Heck, our bench is so good, we choose to start some of them.

Flynn (bench player)
Ellington (bench player)
Brewer (bench player)
Love (bench player last year)
Darko (ah, yeah)

No, seriously, though, here is our roster.

Flynn (Rubio next year)
Wesley
Beasley
Love
Darko

Suns... and the crazy part is i don't think they have that much talent in the second team, but they come in and extend leads.

hes not washed up yet & hes 31 soon to be 32 and has altest 2 more years left which he took the MLE for 2 years and i dont know howmuch, but i do see him being a huge peice in this team as for howard its going to be hard to getting him, the bulls want him also and they have cap space as for the c's if they want to get howard washington has to take sheeds contract in a sign & trade

My kings don't have any great guards coming off the bench... as of yet. But our front court is LOADED. Assuming Cousins and Landry starts... as well as Donte Greene at SF... we will have Omri Casspi, Jason Thompson, Sam Dalambert and Hassan Whiteside all coming off the bench.

A little on the young side, but definitely some talent.

but hey don't discredit he D either. He really improved on that end before he got injured. I love Deng but I think he's a bit overrated on the defensive end.
