I never understood the mouthguard chewing. You might call it a nervous tick, but every player does it. They're like flamingos, if a superstar started playing basketball on one leg so would the rest of the league.

Dude I applaud exposing this nonsense. I have endured watching Chism in the SEC for what seems like ten seasons wearing the head band like that. I dont think that **** ever got knocked off either.

It reminds me of the big guy from the HBO series OZ who used to wear his winter cap in a similar fashion

Nelly did it because a relative of his was in jail, he doesn't have a tear tattoo. Wade originally did it because he had stitches, but then he kept it going because he liked the way it looked and started wearing ones with his name on it.

I always thought people like Ben Wallace were ridiculous when they would have like 3 arm bands in various places on the same arm. I also the full sleeves, but I never understood the sleeves that only covered the forearms.

Dumbest trend by far :

all the star players joining forces on one team to the detriment of the entire league's competitive play.

big ben wears armbands to keep his arms from getting all scratched up while people are trying to grab for the rebounds

i thought the full arm sleeves were to cover up offensive or gang related tattoos (or thats what i heard about iverson wearin them)

I didnt know those were really tights. I just thought they were always really high socks. Anyway, it protects from burns.

But the trends were cool. The arm sleeves, armbands, headbands. It brings some individuality when everyone on the court looks and is dressed the same.

Not a trend (yet), but Josh Smith is awesome. He wears arm sleeves on both arms, a headband, 2 knee pads, and mid-high socks. Every part of his body is covered in gear.:D I actually thinks it looks cool, but will soon be stupid if everyone else does it.

Didn't know that about Big Ben, but I still think it looks dumb. The full armbands are supposed to keep elbow injuries warm and compressed to keep swelling down
