Knicks Prez Donnie Walsh told me today that Isiah Thomas will be among Knicks GM candidates if they make a hire
http://twitter.com/Chris_Broussard/status/18224705107

Knicks president Donnie Walsh said that Isiah Thomas will be a candidate for the team's GM position "if they make a hire," according to ESPN's Chris Broussard.

As preposterous as it seems, Isiah is obviously still viewed favorably by owner James Dolan. He met with LeBron James as an unsuccessful ambassador for the Knicks and it sure seems like he's creeping back into the picture in New York. Rival GMs with bloated contracts on the books are already licking their chops.

Is this deja vu? :laugh2:

This is funnier than the 'Beasley's dad thinks he got traded for looking like Delonte' thread.

I would feel really really bad for Knicks fans if this happens. At least there's no more picks for him to give away, but think of what he'd do with all that cap space. Ugh.

That has to be a joke. LOL please don;t do this Knicks. You're my second team (since i live in NY) don't **** yourself over for another 5 years! have we learned nothing??

I'll make a Thomas - Bird milkshake, mix it together and trade that for my 11 year old cousin as a GM...

WTF?!?!?!!? There is no WAY that could happen. For real? He'd just make a trade for Gilbert Arenas and Brandon Jennings and then give a huge contract to some underachiving big man and give away all the team's draft picks for the next five years to boot.

No way this could happen. For real?

Well the next draft pick he can trade is 2013 I believe, so at least his trades won't hurt immediately.

He wouldn't have authority over FA signings obviously with Donnie as his boss.

Isiah would be a good GM when it comes to the Draft. He is the guy who drafted Wilson Chandler, David Lee, Trevor Ariza, Nate Robinson, & Channing Frye. Thats a lot more than what the average GM can show for during the 2000's.

Isiah Thomas is a good scout for drafting, not a good GM. Plus, I saw a report that Donnie isn't leaving.

I miss all those interviews where he's pasted a grin on his face, and a 20-million mile stare in his eyes as his latest venture is crashing big time (100% foreseen).

Didn't Isiah get run out of town a few years ago? Weren't the fans booing him and chanting "fire Isiah" when he coached them a while back? Why would Donnie bring him back to the FO after what happened?

Ugh. Dolan is such a horrible owner. I wish he'd sell the team. Or if that doesn't happen, maybe he falls off a cliff.

Why would you bring back Isiah? He was a horrible GM. We're just starting to maybe turn the corner and the Knicks want to bring back Isiah? It's like Dolan wants our team to suck.

Whats worse? Some knicks fans actually want Isiah back

That's a hard question.

I would say Isaiah coming back only cuz he never gave anything to the Knicks. At least Lebron did something for Cleveland.

Isiah was never given the option of tearing down the entire team and starting fresh so he had no choice but trades. As to his draft selections, I put him above Walsh and especially Layden who I still say is the worst GM of all. You are right on one thing, if Isiah was GM we would have had Brandon Jennings. We are lucky to get Felton.
