I was impressed with Caracter's feel for the game...In particular, his passing within the offense and a nose for the ball around the basket......

I like both players they have alot of potential, man! I didn't know Ebanks was so long and Character is a banger down low plus he can shoot the ball with either hand,Ebanks has good form when he shoots the ball, this is just one game though, lets wait and see in the next couple of weeks.

That is some funny stuff!

He is the only banger in that team! This guy is going to be a contributor. He is definitely better than Powell. So far.:D The pGs killed us today!

good to hear! I like what I saw. It is just summer league. Remember, Adam Morrison lit the summer league up. Nothing against Ammo, but i'm saying..... But I will say that both of our draft picks looked pretty fluid and well rounded. Better than what I thought we would get at that low in the draft

Guys are making a strong case to make the team. I like Ebanks game, he does indeed remind me of Ariza.

As a Pistons fan I have to say that Caracter looks great. Our team was lazy, but everyone on your team had something to prove. If White didn't have something to prove to a pistons team full of guards, you would have probably won that game at the end. Other than Caracters near triple double, 9 fouls, he seems great. Also, I'm counting on you to show Miami that you need length, depth, and defense to win rings, so I'm glad you have some promising young talent!

Yeah, I watched the game. Chuck Persons is coaching and their using or trying to use the triangle offense. Green didn't seem to fit in; commentators said he spent last year in Russia playing, if he continues to play this way, he might have to go back.

Many of Caracter's fouls are from help defense so that's ok. He's got good defensive position on his man and rebounding.

Adam Morrison was a lottery pick and was projected to be one of the best players in his draft. He was playing well before Luke injured him during a game.

Nobody expected these guys to play well and the majority of the NBA fans don't know who they are. Ebanks has the skill set and potential to be an Ariza clone in the Lakers offense in a couple of years.

I think Ebanks looked impressive. He was able to hit outside shots including a few sweet 3's all while seemingly able to go to the basket. Looked very good in the first game.

Caracter to me seemed to be fumblingly quite a bit the first quarter with some bad catches and some missteps in his foot work but, he rebounded nicely after the 1st to have a very good game afterwords.

Both players looked fantastic, Caracter was a monster in the post and Ebanks was a beast in transition. I think we should really keep and develop both players.

He plays extremely sloppy defense though so hopefully we can change that. I also noted that anytime he makes a mistake on one end of the court he would follow it up with a stupid play on the other end which I didn't like.

My guess is Caracter and Ebanks will only come to camp IF the Lakers feel they are certain to make the final roster. Otherwise, Los Angeles will lose their draft rights if they are eventually waived [ I know you remember Danilo Pinnock ] ...

Anyway, from what is happening in free agency, and based on what I saw from Derrick and Devin yesterday, I would say there is a good chance the Lakers will take a chance with these guys and sign them to camp contracts ... But it is not a sure thing, so the next four Summer League games could be telling ...

Do not go over board on this one. Powell is a waist of a player that in two years with us never showed half of what Caracter showed yesterday. I know this guy is just trying to make it in the NBA vs someone that already play at least three years in it and proved to have zero skills.

Ebanks and DC work together perfectly!

first half:

Ebanks: 5-8 FG, 2-2 3P, 14 points, 2 steals
DC: 6-8 FG, 14 points, 7 boards.

**** the rest of the FA beside T-mac, seriously. Just get these 2 as backups and sign t-mac and I'm down with that :D

Our 2 rookies are getting recognition.

http://www.nba.com/rookieladder/?ls=iref:nbahpt1

1 Devin Ebanks :: Los Angeles Lakers

Ebanks, taken with the 43rd pick in the Draft, brought energy and hustle to the Lakers' lineup in their 89-84 loss to the Pistons on Friday. Ebanks finished with 21 points on 9-for-16 shooting (1-for-3 on 3s) in his debut.

3 Derrick Caracter :: Los Angeles Lakers

Caracter had his second straight double-double in Vegas with 17 points and 12 rebounds in the Lakers' 92-74 loss to the Nuggets on Saturday. "Nobody can stop him in the block," said teammate Devin Ebanks.

Hope they make the team.

it's rare to see the Lakers get talent from second round draft picks.

I have to disagree with that... Luke Walton, Ronny Turiaf, and Von Wafer were 3 of the last 7 second round picks before this year... they traded another of the 7 for Maurice Evans, who was also well worth a second round pick.

I would say those results are better then the league average for second rounders...

Green was more 'active' defensively and did make a couple of nice shots, but he generally seemed in way above his depth today, as he had yesterday as well. He has three more games to show something amazing ...

Don't go holding your breath ...

If DC continue to impress and progress, I think Laker won't bring Powll back. Mbenga might still has a good chance.
Ebanks should be a steal and both of them should make the roster.
The goners for sure...Morrison, Farmar and Powell.
If we lost fisher, we might try sign Brown as back up for Blake, or we could use Sasha to back up Blake...

Yeah, I think we could get Watson if Fish doesn't come back too... Move Blake to the starter, then get Watson/Sasha to make him up.

But Fish is coming back... he can't get more in Miami then what he'd get in LA

i think youse should keep green, he could be a decent starter in this league in 2-3 years, could learn alot of kobe who he was compared to coming into the nba, maybe kobe can teach him to have the right attitude to play in the nba, and make he can learn a few more tricks then throwing down on people, i honestly think he can be a better version of shannon brown for you guys, ive watched most of his games he played for the mavs a couple of seasons ago, he just needs to work on his descision making, and his dribiling.

I'd like to see us bring these 2 players on in place of Morrison and Powell...here is what I want our roster to look like:

PG: Fisher/Blake
SG: Kobe/Sasha
SF: Artest/FA1/Walton/Ebanks
PF: Pau/Odom/Character
C: Bynum/FA2

FA1: I want this to be a player that we sign with the remainder of our MLE...I would love for it to be someone like TMac, Bell, Brewer...etc

FA2: A servicable backup center who won't log many minutes with the vet minimum...someone like Mbenga or Kwame would be fine

If we'll lose fish, i think it will be better if we'll take a look first at livingston as a replacement. He might come in cheap.. as far as ebanks and caracter are concerned, i think they are playing great. They might make it to the lineup and help the team. As for green, he is still having a hard time going through the flow of the offense. I think his lack of fundamentals is hurting his game..

pass on Sasha being 2nd string SG. I would rather sign T-Mac and have him serve that spot and move sasha to 3rd string SG.

Even though he's only a rookie and it's only summer league, i would rather see Ebanks being the 2nd string SF and Caracter being the backup center. Despite the fact that he's 6'9, he can play center just as well as PF with his size and play style.

Caracter is taking Powell place and Ebanks is taking Morrison's and Puke's minutes. Mbenga or another big will be needed as well as a player to come and cover Kobe. Bell or Barnes could come. T Mac is high risk, but if he returns and plays at the level that the guy in the Suns have been playing, it would be the best back up! He can play the 3 and the two easily. I think Cupcake will come out this week with the news.
