The Raptors and Heat have agreed to the framework of a sign-and-trade arrangement that will complete Chris Bosh's departure for Miami to join Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, a person with knowledge of the deal confirmed to CBSSports.com Friday.

"It's pretty much done," the person said.

Toronto will get multiple draft picks, including a 2011 first-round pick that was previously traded to the Heat, and a trade exception -- but no players. Bosh, who along with Wade committed to joining the Heat on Wednesday, will get a six-year deal as opposed to the five-year contract he would have been eligible for through a straight signing.

Agent Henry Thomas, who represents both Wade and Bosh, said there has been steady progress in contract talks with Miami for both players.

A heat draft pick would have no value what so ever.

It's the Raptors pick they traded to us in the O'Neal for Marion trade.

I mean gems can be found in the bottom of the 1st round. but from the Heat outlook why give up any picks period?

That was an amazing shot by Kobe in your sig. What's more amazing is that with all the insane shots and buzzer beaters that Kobe has had, he says that this was his luckiest shot and couldn't believe it when in. Regardless, it was an amazing game

Now they can keep Chalmers. All they need now is a good defensive minded center like Perkins and they will be my pick to win the championship.

Yeah great sig because Jordan and Kobe did it by themselves. Let's get serious.

Yeah, but Jordan didn't need Larry Bird and Karl Malone to do it.

Hey guys, I am a Raptors fan and was hoping we didnt help the Heat out but I guess this doesnt really hurt us since we didnt take any cap off their shoulders(not like they have any players to deal) and we get our pick back too which if this seasons turns ugly, at least we have a lottery possibly.

Anyways I havent heard this term used quite often, the trade exception, what does this allow us to do? be able to take on a huge contract from another team without the salaries and caps matching up correctly? As well my other question, does every team have a trade exception to trade away or did Miami have it for quite some time? If anyone would be kind to assist me with those questions i would appreciate it!

Thanks!

2 First Round Picks.

One of them is the one we traded with JO, and another is MIA's first rounder.

Also got a 16mill TPE.

I'm not really sad to see Bosh go. It was time for a change. Yes, the Raptors will miss his 20+ pts/game and 10+ rbs/game but he never got them past the 1st round of the playoffs as the franchise player. His defense is not strong. Plus, he also only had one season where he played 80+ games. Between his knee problems (which should be a concern for the Heat) and breaking his face at the end of this past season, he hasn't been very durable.

Anyone still want to come with the argument that money wasn't a thing and they would take pay cuts?

the trade exception would be huge

we could acquire players for free

as far as the pick we can get a first rounder steal

Didnt they swap 1st Rounders (and added Minny's 2nd rounder) with the Wolves in the beasley deal?? So wouldnt it be Minny's pick??

The max is $16.6M

Lebron and Bosh are gonna make $14.5 next season, Wade will make $14.2M...the trade was more about the 6th year than the money. You get a  for not knowing the facts.
