The Knicks are close to signing Raymond Felton to a multi-year deal, according to sources that spoke with Yahoo's Marc J. Spears.

Note: Felton is an unrestricted free agent after he was unable to agree to a long-term deal with Charlotte last summer.

Felton was the fifth overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft.

I think Ridnour would have been the better and cheaper fit. In fact they could have probably gotten Ridnour and Korver for the price they might overpay him.

Not crazy about it because I was holding out hope for Tony Parker and I like Toney Douglas.

Depends on the contract.

word was that he was asking for more than any team would give him...either he or the knicks must have caved

They were beaten last summer for Ramon Sessions, this signing only makes sense for them.

This.

Sessions wanted multiple years. He would've been a good fit though.

If Steve Blake got 4 years 16 million, Felton will probably get somewhere around 7 million a year, 4 years 28 million sound about right considering whats happened so far this FA

Felton, Amare, Gallo, Randolph + Melo would be fantastic next year (fingers crossed).

Donnie is quietly building a solid team that's going to sneak up on people and grab a playoff spot. Looks like we got our PG. I can't really be mad.

I have a feeling they'll overpay him and he'll get a Haywood type deal due to the lack of solid PGs on the market. Just like when Haywood signed for about 9-10 millions a year because of the lack of Centers on the market. Felton might get the same deal...

What are you showing? Not sure.

As of now, I think the Knicks have $15 million in expiring contracts for 2011 so with some moves they could get to a max for Melo (if he's available by then).

I think what Walsh is trying to do is bring in 2-way players with some toughness. Now Amare is more of an offensive player but he brings the toughness.

2 way players: Chandler, Gallinari, Douglas, Azubuike, Turiaf, Randolph

97NYer
07-09-2010, 05:45 PM
Felton torched us every time we played the Bobcats. I like his game and with Amare/Gallo/Randolph/Chandler/Bukie/Douglas/Walker/Turiaf around him I think he'll be alright. It is certainly a let down however when you wanted to be an immediate contender and you end up being a team that looks like it will be a low seeded playoff team.

bkmikeyy
07-09-2010, 05:46 PM
I like it...give the Knicks depth at every position (center is weak but it is on most teams)

Felton/TD
Azibuke/Walker
Gallo/Chandler
Amare/Randolph
Curry/Turiaf/Jordan

They will also have enough for a max next summer because about 15 mill is coming off the books and we have 10 mill right now (hopefully felton is 7-8 mill). So next summer ESPN can't make the argument how no one should join the Knicks because they have no depth, a superstar on that roster would have a good team.

Anyone else realize that Eddy Curry single handedly ruined the Knicks franchise? Imagine him either averaging 19 and 7 like he did on year or not existing at all, Knicks would be able to offer the same thing Miami did and still have gallo, chandler, douglas, walker. Eddy you lazy fat slob.

Anthony Randolph, Azubuike, Turiaf, Felton, Gallinari, Chandler... These are all young guys with room to get better. Especially Randolph and Gallinari. I think they both have one more jump left in their talent pool. Felton I also think can really excel as a Mike D PG. Put them all with Amar'e Stoudemire and I think we're talking about a 7 seed with upside and opportunity to possibly nab someone BIG next off season. I like this roster a LOT.

Great move imo. We finally get a good point guard to go with Amare. I think that this team is beginning to shape up, and I truly think they'll be in the playoffs next season. And Randolph and Azubuike are gonna be very good players, with Randolph becomiong a stud. And I have more good news- Brandon Tierney just said on the wheelhouse on SNY that he heard from a source that he feels is very very credible that the knicks are almost positive that one of Melo or CP3 will be a Knick come this October. So I'm guessing that it would be Melo with Felton signing. Get it Done Donnie! :)

He's actually a good P&R player. Pushes the ball too. Problem is he is bad breaking people down off the dribble and not a great shooter. In NY system he won't need to do too much.

What's important to note is the Knicks have assembled a ton of tradeable assets in case Melo, CP3 or Parker become available.

Felton, Chandler, Randolph, Azubuike, Turiaf, Walker, Douglas are all useful players with relatively affordable contracts (assuming 4years/28mill for Felton). Curry is a large expiring as well. We'll see what happens.

I agree 100%. Have alot of pieces to put tog and make a trade. I don't think we do. I think we stay the way we are for the next year. Let's wait for melo and the rest for next year. But how sweet it would be to pick up paul or melo.
