This is what will happen... Dan Gilbert will drop a deuce in a box, and send it to the Heat all wrapped up nicely, adressed to Lebron.

The card will say "Hey buddy I'm sorry I overeacted"...

Then when LBJ opens it up, theres gonna be another card that says "Psych!"

I am not joking, Dan Gilbert is going to punk LBJ for the rest of his career... and its going to be hillarious.

The sign and trade totally makes sense for the Cavs. First, let Lebron have a higher salary which will eat up more future cap space for the Heat. Secondly, we could get a 16 million dollar trade exception. That is huge. Add that to the 9 million cap space, the mid level exception, and the 14 million of expiring contracts they have. This team could be rebuilt quickly.

TEXASTITAN
07-09-2010, 03:54 PM
After the way the cav's owner ripped lebron over him choosing to leave there will be NO sign and trade for him. It's not going to happen the owner is pi$$ed right now and i can't blame them they are not going to help lebron in any way shape or form.

Doing a S&T for them now is not a bad idea. They can take a few future draft picks. Let them pay LeBron more, will hit them eventually, plus the draft picks would make it harder for miami to get a bench around him. Not a huge hit to Miami's efforts but thery little bit helps him make his statement that the'll win before LeBron more likely.

I was wondering the same thing. If they draw up a contract, I dont know if there is a stipulation saying, Lebron has to be traded to the Miami Heat. I think its all done verbally. Although, I dont see any team ever doing that sort of bush league move. But them again, Dan Gilbert sounded pretty desperate last night.

REALLY DUDE???? From a fan of the most successful franchise in basketball history?? And correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't your franchise have multiple 3 peats in their history or something like that?? The Lakers have been in the West finals for the last 15 years in a row, no?? I hope you're being sarcastic, because you would be the last person in the world that should be talking about the NBA being a league of parity.

So allowing the heat to keep all their draft picks and the cavs not taking what they can, now that it's 100% certain LeBron is leaving would be helping the heat?? Please explain......

This would greatly help the Cavs, and although they would look like the heats' bia, at least they get something out of the deal. Bron is still going to make the same amount of money no matter if he comes through S&T or not. The only difference is the extra year, which if all this fails like you guys are thinking, then it would lock up the heat's cap for an extra year. And even if he doesn't come through S&T, they can do what someone else here mentioned and just redo his contract in a couple years.

Am I going crazy here, or does this not sound like it makes sense?

07-09-2010, 05:28 PM

Pinrod33
07-09-2010, 05:31 PM
Yes which is the Reason I don't believe this.

This was when they didn't seriously think he would leave Cleveland. Now it's either this or be left with nothing. I think it's a smart move if the cavs owner can swallow his pride. I can see why he wouldn't do it, but it's a smarter business move to at least collect some draft picks to rebuild the franchise, along with a trade exception worth the maximum amount which can be used on an elite player, or a couple good players (or are they not allowed to break up the exception into different parts?)

SANDBURG23
07-09-2010, 05:39 PM

How does making them pay more for LeBron as well as take some assets back help the Heat. He signing there if they do S&T or not, it's not like they stopping him from going there by not doing S&T.

Exactly, in fact the Heat would be helping the cavs. I know the heat gets a little more flexibility, but why would they agree to a S&T if they can just sign him outright and not give up anything? It works for both clubs, imo.

So where are all the people that hated on the Gasol trade? This new Miami team is ridiculous all around.

The Gasol trade is not as one sided as it seems. Yes Lakers got titles from it but they where close at the time and Memphis was and still is not. Memphis got His brother how is pretty good 2 first rounds one used on an ok Back-up PF and the other used this year plus these players cost 13 million less.

Marc Gasol-C 14.5 pts 9rbd 58%fg 1.5blk 25yrs old
Pau Gasol-C 18.5pts 11.3rbd 54%fg 1.7blk 30yrs old

Pau is better but Marc comes with the 2 fisrt rd's, 5 years younger and the less $ for the 3 players. It really seems like a fair trade. Works for what both teams trying to do at the time.

Derick713
