all info from bluejays.com

Friday July 9, 7:07, SNET

Jon Lester (10-3, 2.76 ERA) (http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=452657) vs Ricky Romero (6-5, 3.39 ERA) (http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=460069)

Scouting report:

Red Sawx: Fresh off making the All-Star team for the first time, Lester will complete his terrific second half by opening this three-game series. Lester stifled the Orioles in his last start, allowing five hits and one run over seven innings. He walked one and struck out seven.

Jays: Romero suffered the shortest outing of his season on Saturday, giving up a career-worst eight runs in just 2 2/3 innings in a loss to the Yankees. The lefty walked two, struck out three and allowed a grand slam. Romero has one win in his past six starts.

Saturday July 10, 1:07, SNET

John Lackey (9-4, 4.40 ERA) (http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=407793) vs Brandon Morrow (5-6, 4.69) (http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=453344)

Scouting report:

Red Sox: The big righty hung tough in his last start, giving up eight hits and three earned runs in 7 1/3 innings, but suffered a loss to the Orioles. Lackey has given up three earned runs or fewer in five of his last six starts. In seven road starts, he is 2-2 with a 4.34 ERA.

Jays: The Jays' defense sabotaged what would have been another solid outing from Morrow against the Yankees on Sunday. Morrow allowed five runs over six innings, with two runs resulting from a misplayed fly ball. It was his third consecutive game with seven or more innings pitched.

Sunday July 11, 1:07, SNET

Daisuke Matsuzaka (5-3, 4.71 ERA) (http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=493137) vs Jesse Litsch (0-3, 7.30 ERA) (http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=446209)

Scouting report:

Red Sox: Matsuzaka was up and down in his last start, giving up eight hits and four earned runs over five-plus innings. He threw 112 pitches. It snapped a six-start streak in which Matsuzaka had given up three earned runs or fewer. Opponents are hitting .239 against Dice-K.

Jays: Litsch has flip-flopped between good and poor outings in his five starts since returning from Tommy John surgery. In his last outing Tuesday against the Twins, he looked steady until being clubbed for back-to-back home runs in the sixth. Litsch threw only 76 pitches.

I think we can get 2/3. Just got to keep hitting the long ball.

I think the red sox are gonna make a better case as to why Litsch should not be in the rotation.

Litsch is **** and Lester is too good. I say bosox take 2/3 with us winning the morrow game

I hope I'm wrong, but I think Lester will be too good and Litsch is going to struggle. Sox take 2/3.

The Sox have some injuries. We've played them well this year. Just haven't gotten the wins. I'm looking for a sweep. Litsch knows he needs to do well.

Cito...if you have Buck and Molina in the line up...why is Molina the DH? You make no sense.

well, I just wanted to come home and watch the Jays. Change of plans. This game is a disaster. Romero gives up nine. Not fun.

agreed. I wonder if his arm is tired? I'd give him a break. I've heard the Jays were thinking of going to a six man rotation.

okay ...... i think tallets tenure as a jay is coming to an end...

marcre

I know this type of game happens to everyone during the season, but it still sucks. Tallet is useless. He can only come into games like this. I'd never trust him in a close game.

I actually don't know why I keep going back to the game.

I just don't get the Red Sox success this year. On paper they don't seem that great. Plus all the injuries.

^^And all lefties seem to cruise against the Jays' lineup. Hopefully they have a better time against Lackey and Dice-BB.

2 injured RedSox on crutches in uniform travelling with the team. You don't see this often anymore. Team unity like this goes a long way over a long season. Varitek and Pedroia impressed me. This sort of thing brings out the best in a team.

At least we got a field goal at the end but the 2 touchdowns were hard to overcome.

This is why I hate Redsox/Yankee games.
We have OUR own cheering for them.

Morrow with 102 pitches through 4 innings. :bang:

the Red Sox just wore Morrow out.. He got out of the first inning and I felt like he made a lot of good pitches in the 2nd and 3rd but the Red Sox kept on spoiling them until they got a pitch to hit, something our offense cant do

Cito with a great idea which I don't know why other managers don't use. Scrabble was due to throw his side session today, so why not do it during the game? Imagine giving Romero and Marcum 30 extra innings a piece without them throwing more pitches than they would have otherwise...

Beautiful.

I like the idea of using starters in game instead of during side sessions but I think Cito did it because the ASG is coming up and Rzep wouldn't have a chance to start in the next couple of days. It's not something I'd expect to see happening in the future.

I agree that it's something that should be done more often to allow your better pitchers to pitch more innings. The downside though is that SP's take longer to warm up in the pen, and that pitching a side session is less stressful on the arm than pitching in game.

Jesse Litsch was decent today. However, I still think the Blue Jays should send him to AAA.
