Mitchell native Mike Miller intends to sign a five-year, $30 million deal with the Miami Heat, sources told KSFY late Thursday night.

http://www.ksfy.com/Global/story.asp?S=12778542

This is the second media outlet to report this news, Beasley was traded earlier in the night.

makes sense now. they are using Beasley's 5 mill to give to Miller. But, bad choice. because he aint winning a title with the heat for the next 2 years at least. Lakers will win 1 and I am sure someone will knock of the Heat the following year.

"Hi, I am Mike Miller, career starter for the most part, but willing to take a bench role on the superteam and drop my career PPG from 13.7 down to 2.2 for the next 5 years. I am also willing to play 3 minutes per game in the playoffs because Lebron and Wade play 45 at my positions."

When Beasley was traded, they became able to sign basically one guy for over the minimum...they went and grabbed Miller.

From here on out though, I don't think they'll be grabbing anything but league min guys.

And for the foreseeable future? They should only have the mid level exception for the next 5 years and no other contracts to unload in trades, correct? If they don't get a bunch of good players "on the cheap" they might be in BIG TROUBLE.

They just got rid of Beasley who had about 5.6M on his contract. The salary cap came in at 2M over then what was expected. I think they will all take about 15.5 to start off with.

1 year of injuries? Nice try but you are obviously completely wrong.

D. Wade has missed over 20 games in a year THREE times. He also has yet to play a full season's schedule. That's a lot in only a 7 year career.

KG missed only 5 games in his first 7 years. D. Wade has missed 97.

I actually see AI going to Cleveland. He can be their hero, play for a guard centric coach, get the full MLE, get to start, and basically be AI. I honestly think he jumps on that chance, and in all honesty they still have more talent than Phili for him to play with

T-Mac seems more and more likely to be a Laker it seems from his tweets once they square away Fish since he just returned back to America from China this morning.

Now, I could see Lebron trying to get Z to come with him

No one is wishing injuries. I for one was just pointing out that with the team being so strapped financially for years to come, if one of the 3 get injured, they are in serious trouble. The person most likely to be injured is the injury prone Wade, who has yet to play a full season, missed more than 20 games in 3 different seasons of the 7 he's played, and missed a total of 97 games in his 7 year career. That is a lot and something you have to factor in.

How many other 7 year players have missed that much time at Wade's age?

Look at what happened w/ BOS. KG got hurt. They went out and signed Sheed to improve their depth. MIA doesn't have that ability this offseason. Adding depth is crucial so you can sustain an injury. Not necessarily a major one, but one that lasts a few weeks. You need guys that can keep the ball rolling and maintain playoff positioning. When people discuss injuries, it really means depth. But I guess that isn't worth discussing for you...

It is believed James became sold on the idea of joining the Heat after being told he will play point guard -- or as team president Pat Riley is believed to have explained, a role similar to that of Magic Johnson during Riley's time as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers in the1980s.

Wrong. Because 2 stars and a buch of vet min guys won't win. MIA is going ot need some depth. I think they need to have a great 1-8 rotation (with a decent big as the 9th man).

They need a starting PG (I think Chalmers would be fine), a backup PG (Eddie House for vet min makes sense), and a backup SG/SF (Miller would be great). Then they need a starting C (Joel Anthony). The last need would be two solid bigs. Ideally, they use the MLE next year on a C, pushing Anthony into a bench role.

Ok Bosh didnt exactly lead his team like Wade and LBJ, but if Bosh is accompanied with either Wade/James we will have a good chance at beating anyone in the league. Especially if we also add Miller.
I like the way you worded that.

I caution all Heat fans to be as level-headed as this guy. Be optimistic and confident, but not cocky, because people will make you eat crow if the Heat don't win it all instantly.

Alright buddy whatever you say ;)

Ill let my boys do the talking for me from now on

This was a great move for the Heat. But it leaves them dependent on all 3. Untill they have a few MLE players, they won't be able to deal with the loss of one of them (at least not on a championship level). In a few years, the supporting cast will be great. Players will fight for their MLE every year. But that is not relevant this year. If one goes down (like you said), it will be 2 stars and a bunch of vet min guys - not enough to compete for a title.

I know injuries happen, its part of the game. But only someone that is biter about this would bring it up. Did you forget that we have 3 super stars, all of which have carried their teams BY THEMSELVES? If one gets injured, there will still be 2 more which i guarantee will still beat 75% of the league.

No doubt you guys have 3 stars. Nobody is questioning that, but its the players around them. There gonna be Vet Min guys or very cheap guys. Its gonna take a bench to get to the Finals or win it. A complete team. Remember, Bosh, Wade and LBJ will have to come out the game sometime.

Its funny how Heat fans are getting so cocky right now. I know getting Lebron is a big deal, but every little thing somebody says is disrespectful, or hating. Where was all this talk 24 hours ago? All I heard was I hope or we'll see and they were humble, but as soon as he said South beach, they got cocky.

I don't like LBJ as a PG. I think they would be better off w/ him at SF. He is such an asset defensively. Let Chalmers start and bring MM off the bench. Tat balnces the team better, IMO. He can still be the primary ball handler, even as a SF.

In Miami we are a passionate bunch. We stay humble and hold it all in....hoping. Now that the news came out all that pent up emotion is out and we may be a bit excited. I see how our fan might have thought that some posters are trying to point out any reason to bring down our high...

Just leave us on cloud 9 for today and we'll talk logistics tomorrow. Sure we need a ton of other players BUT what team in the NBA wouldn't wish they had our lack of player "problem" if it meant they had Wade, Bron and Bosh?

Wait...what?

There are some great Heat fans, and I've had perfectly civil discussions with a lot of them the past few weeks, but I wouldn't say the entire fan base can be classified as "passionate" when they struggle to bring in a full crowd with a superstar in D-Wade.

I'll be the first to admit Miami has bandwagon fans. They only come out when our team has a chance to win a championship.

In 05-06 year when the Heat won it, we sold out all 41 home games. So there is definitely history of fans showing up when it matters. Heck, season tickets were sold out before LeBron even officially announced the decision.

makes sense now. they are using Beasley's 5 mill to give to Miller. But, bad choice. because he aint winning a title with the heat for the next 2 years at least. Lakers will win 1 and I am sure someone will knock of the Heat the following year.

Oh geez, I heard your own fans saying Ira isn't the best source just last week.

BTW, as I said, Ira has no sources on this. He's only using the SD report as his source. Since that SD report came out, Miller's agent announced that no deal had been reached or decision had been made.

BluejaysFan08

His contract should read:

"Hi, I am Mike Miller, career starter for the most part, but willing to take a bench role on the superteam and drop my career PPG from 13.7 down to 2.2 for the next 5 years. I am also willing to play 3 minutes per game in the playoffs because Lebron and Wade play 45 at my positions."

still bitter? Who's team has the big 3 now?

ps: Im not even a heat fan, I know what you were thinking.

 It's said that since before Arn Tellem denied it.

Seriously, you're using ESPN as a legit source. And ESPN, Ira, etc. are using an unknown South Dakota report.

To further this. Reading the South Dakota radio station KSFY, it has unnamed sources...and the Mitchell Republic-the first newspaper in SD to announce this, has removed and rewritten the article stating that Miller is going to the Heat. They're now saying he is in talks with the Heat and could join them.

FYI: The original report on ESPN, done by Marc Stein, has ALSO been updated as of 2:48am EST.

Sources said that the Heat have not abandoned hope of convincing free-agent swingman Mike Miller to sign in Miami once they determine exactly what sort of first-year salaries with work for the Team USA trio.

More news flying in, but after a number of outlets reported it, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported that Mike Miller has indeed confirmed to the Miami Heat that he will accept its offer of five years, $30 million. More news is just flying in every hour, but it’s another big piece to the puzzle.

I'm being sincere here, but do you even read these before you post them?

Go to the link of Ira's story.
Ira writes:
The Heat then turned around and reportedly utilized that $4.9 million in gained cap space on Washington Wizards free-agent swingman Mike Miller, who had a standing five-year, $30 million offer on the table from the Heat. Radio station KSFY in Miller's native South Dakota reported the deal early Friday morning.

Go to their website, as well as the Mitchell Republic newspaper website in SD, both have changed their stories to say he's in talks with the Heat and COULD join them.

Furthermore: Marc Stein, the original guy who reported this for ESPN, changed his story about a half hour ago.

Just the fact that you bring it up and entertain the idea shows how bitter you are. GET OVER IT.

Ive been reading a lot of posts and you seem to be the most bitter of them all.

The fact you are overlooking depth and not thinking of what happens if the injury prone Wade goes down just proves you've got your head in the clouds and riding the huge hype wave. Wait 'til it comes crashing back down.

Let me guess, you already believe you guys are getting a ring. Why don't you go ask Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, and Elgin Baylor, three of the top 50 players to ever play the game, how many rings their collaboration ended up with?

I'll help you out. NONE
