Here are mine:

1. Miami
2. Chicago
3. Orlando
4. Boston
5. Atlanta
6. Charlotte
7. New York
8. Cleveland

Like Miami and Orlando in the same division can finish 1 and 2. The reason for this was because of the 2006 series between SA an Dallas. They both had the top 2 records but at the time Dallas had to be the 4th seed when they should have been the #2 seed.

Example:

Miami 65-17 Southeast
Orlando 59-23 Southeast
Atlanta 58-24 - Southeast
Boston 57-25 - ATLANTIC
Chicago 56-26 - Central

The seeding would be.

1. Miami - Division Winner
2. Orlando - 2nd best record
3. Boston - Division Winner
4. Chicago - Division Winner
5. Atlanta (but they have HCA over Chicago because of better record)

I agree that Chicago will be a much improved team next year. Without Boozer you guys were a top rebounding team and adding him only adds to that, plus his playoff and Olympic experience also helps. He will be a leader for you guys.

The Heat are going to have a hard time filling out their bench this summer. But after next summer, they'll be unbeatable IMO. For now,

1. Magic - Most balanced team in the East
2. Heat - Duh. Still need depth
3. Bulls - Young and improving
4. Celtics - Don't think age has crippled them yet but they'll save their best work for the postseason
5. Bucks - Found some scorers to take pressure of Jennings, who should only get better
6. Hawks - Haven't gotten worse, but other teams have gotten better
7. Bobcats - Still a playoff team

The last spot is still too close to call for me.

It could happen. That doesn't mean they would be the 2nd best team in the playoffs. They're young, energetic, and going to be well-coached. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bulls win 10-15 games more than Boston in the regular season but are eliminated a round earlier.

Plus the central division is wide open now. The Bulls and the Bucks are the only playoff caliber teams there.

Other 5 teams: Atlanta, Charlotte Chicago, Milawukee, New York (alphabetically)

Washington, Philadelphia and New Jersey depending on how their #1, 2, 3 picks develop in the NBA have some outside chances.

Cleveland has died, Indiana and Detroit(the other team I think could steal #8 position) need improvements.

bulldog312
07-09-2010, 10:42 AM
The Bulls are top 4, but exactly where at depends on what they do with the $18 million or so they have left.

I'm not sold at all that the Heat are the best in the East. I'm sold that they will be in 2 or 3 years when they can use their exceptions to add players. I think the key to them winning the East this year is finding a veteran player who gets released during the season to come in and be a huge role player. If that doesn't happen, I'm not sure they have the depth to win 2 straight series against the Bulls/Magic/Celtics and then a Series against the Lakers (or whoever is the best out West).

a much better coach? how is a Tom Thibodeau, a rookie head coach better than Vinny Del Negro? If anything the Bulls took a step back coaching wise, yea they got better by adding Carolos Boozer but you can't use getting a new coach as a reason for getting better...Chicago will be one of the top 5 seeds but I don't think 2 is possible considering Boston retained their core plus J. O'Neal and Orlando hasn't changed either

Crazy? While anything is possible, I think it would be crazy to say they are going to be top 4 in the East (if healthy, that appears to be Chicago, Boston, Miami, and Orlando - in no order). Then after that I think you have the Bucks and the Hawks. I can see an argument for the Bucks being ahead, but it's definitely not crazy to say the Hawks take the 5 spot. At all.

You didn't actually watch Del Negro coach much, did you? I agree that right now the Bulls aren't number 2. They are probably 4. But that could change with plenty of money left to spend (and pieces and draft picks available to make trades).

No I didn't and I'm not saying Del Negro was a good coach either but I don't think it was logical for JordansBulls to say that Tom Thibodeau is a reason they're going to be the 2nd seed...there's no way to tell if he's going to be better or worse than Del Negro because he's never been a head coach for any other team, let alone coach ONE game for the Bulls yet

Everyone pretty much in agreement the Bulls WITHOUT the MVP will still get a respectable seed in the EAST at this very moment. Where would you guys put Miami if LBJ didn't go there? LBJ didn't want to be "the man" on a team and instead wanted to play with his buddies on south beach.....how cute. How cowardly I say. Come to a major market and be the MAN, unquestioned #1 option on an already good team. Damn, I thought the MVP of the league was better than that....guess not. Skip Bayless was right.."prince james"

1. Miami-Bron, Wade, Bosh will make Chalmers better, yes i said that ha
2. Orlando- Dwight will improve his offensive game
3. Chicago- Rose is gng 2 crazy this year and boozer helps a lot
4-6. Is any order of Bucks, Celtics, Hawks- Bucks have offensive firepower, yet defensive minded coach, Celtics have experience, and Hawks are still a decent team in regular season
7-8. I see 76ers, Bobcats, Nets, Cavs and Knicks fighting for the last 2 slots, possibly Washington too if Wall and Arenas can play good together

just for kicks, in the West:
1-Thunder-will have best regular season record
2-Lakers-will get #2 seed, but that don't mean anything for the Lake Show
3-Blazers-IF IF IF Oden and Roy Stay Healthy
4-Nuggets- Karl is the key hear, and if Melo can put team on back
5-Mavs- Dirk and Co. will always be competitive
6-Jazz- Loss of Boozer hurts but Milsap is still there and his numbers will go up
7-Rockets- Yao's back with Brooks, Ariza, etc..should be a good team again
8-Clippers/Warriors/Grizzlies/older teams like Spurs, Suns---The first teams all have the young talent to make the playoffs but idk if they have the experience and such to beat out the Spurs or Suns

When a team acquires 2 of the top 3 players in the NBA, and arguably the 2nd best PF in the game today the offseason has ended.

While Orlando is getting older and Boston as well.

Lol! Orlando is getting older. That's a good one! Lol.

Orlando still has the best assets to make a trade for a high profile player. If they don't this year, Carter's contract is off the books, allowing them to pick up possibly Melo. Maybe next year Chris Paul decides to tell ownership that he's ready to be traded. I think one more year of realizing your team is going nowhere is torture enough.

Miami and Orlando can't both be in the top 3 seeds. I thought the top 3 in seedings were the division winners.

So The Bulls or Buck will be higher than either Miami or Orlando.

There not. if I wasnt a Heat fan it would really suck right now. that being said, the Bulls are easily 2 or 3 in the east alonside Orlando. possibly boston.

anyone saying miami isnt first in the east is lying to themsleves; although our new trio has to prove their worth and earn that spot.

Magic - I see them as the best overall team in the east right now

Boston - can't argue with the experience

HEAT - just because they got 3 all-starts means it will translate to wins, 1 injury away from an 8 seed.

Bucks- this team has a lot of young talent, and had a ton of injuries last yr. I expect them to be the sleeper of the east.

ATL- will have a good regular season, loaded with talent, should be 2 seed, but doesn't have the killer instinct.

Chi- I believe that noah is way over rated, and they have NO shooters now, but rose and boozer will be dynamic. would't be surprised to see them finish top 4.

Knicks- 2 words, homer pick, in all seriousness, I believe the addition of stat will open up the floor for gallo, and the addition of turiaf and randolph will the void of LEE.

Piston - I think the pistons are embarrassed by how they played last season, and some of those VETS are determined to get back to competive sports lol

Too premature as half the teams on this list don't have their rosters full yet. We still have 6 spots open.

If you knew anything about last season you would know the Bulls were a 5 seed before Noah got hurt and they lost 10 straight. So to me going from 5 to 2 with Boozer is reasonable. But I'd put them at 3 behind Miami and Orlando.

*Silver&Black*

Seedings aside, I don't care who the Bulls, Knicks, Heat signed. It looks good on paper, and until they play, I will take my Hawks who's core has played TOGETHER as a TEAM for years. You can call me a homer, but the truth is, if you got the Bulls ahead of the Hawks, you're the Homer.

Just so that everyone knows.

The 3 division winners have be top 4 seeds. So Miami and Orlando can be 1 and 2, but then Boston and Chicago have to be 3 and 4 if they win their division. That was changed after 2006 when Dallas had the 2nd best record and was the 4th seed because they were in the same division as the Spurs who had the best record.

Only reason Bulls were 8th was bcuz of all the injuries and midesason trades. Remember they lost the starting lineup and lost 10 in a row and still managed to make the playoffs at 41-41. With a healthy line up and Boozer and a couple new shooters they can easily win 10 more games and be 51-31. I say they jump up to 3rd seed and a division title.

just wondering how some of you think Orlando will be better than Miami. Yeah, as of now the Heat have nobody to guard Dwight but who in the hell on the Magic can account for Wade, Lebron, Bosh and Miller? It's a matter of time befoer this whole roster is filled out and many will be suprised at who comes to play for the chance at a ring. The last piece to the puzzle is the center.

I know its still really early but I really don't see any major deals (eg Chris Paul or Camelo trade) on the horizon that will drastically affect any team's chances in East.

My list would be

1. Miami Heat
2. Orlando Magic
3. Chicago Bulls
4. Boston Celtics
5. Atlanta Hawks
6. Milwaukee Bucks
7. Charlotte Bobcats
8. Philadelphia 76ers (homer pick)

I think 1-6 are surely going to make the playoffs. Maybe not in that order but they are certainly playoffs calibre teams. The other two however could certainly go to either Bobcats, Knicks, 76ers, Nets and maybe even a healthy Detroit unit.

6. Atlanta- good enough to make the playoffs but...meh
7-8. I don't think Charlotte is necessarily a lock, but they hava a good chance to make it back for another first round exit. Other teams to consider for the final 2 spots: NY, 76ers, NJ, Cle

Boston doesn't have the energy to be a #1 over the course of a season, showed they don't need to.

1. Miami: They will win regular season games. Enough said. (Don't see them winning a ring against the lakers yet.)
2. Boston: They lose sheed, pick up O'neal. Still seem solid.
3. Orlando: Lost JJ Reddick and Barnes.
4. Chicago: Picked up Reddick and Korver to compliment Rose, Boozer addition puts them at the top of the central division.
5. Milwaukee: Assuming Bogut gets healthy, and with their offseason moves, I see them improving over last year.
6. Atlanta: Overpaying Johnson leaves them stagnant.
7 and 8: A toss up between Pistons, Knicks, Nets, Cavs, and Bobcats. As a Pistons fan, I would hate for us to get the 8th seed and get swept, I'd rather be in the lottery again.

Chicago has an absolutely deadly 3 point shooter in Korver and overpaid to get Reddick from the Magic. Reddick could prove useful still and will improve, he's young. The entire time will improve, most of them are young. Rose, Korver/Reddick, Deng, Boozer, Noah is a top 4 seed.

Yea I can see them being how the Hawks were a couple of years ago. Not even being a homer, but I see the Knicks making it, even if only a 7 or 8 seed, definitely over the Cavaliers.

2. Miami (They will need some time to mesh, I still think they come up short of a title)
3. Boston (2 year window closes quickly, a re-invigorated bench would really help)
4. Chicago (got the low-post threat they need and a shooter or two; will have to turn over a new leaf on offense)
5. Atlanta (Much the same team, should have similar results)
6. Milwaukee (They're not pretty, but they get it done. A dogfight every night)
7. Charlotte (They made it! Browns down and dirty bigs and Captain Jack play to hard to go home)
8. Detroit (An injection of solid youth at the 5 and some improved health makes the Pistons a higly overpaid fringe team)
9. Cavs (assuming Jefferson gets dealt to them, they will still be relevant... as an also-ran)
10. 76ers (Collins will get the group to play better ball, but the roster is highly unbalanced, Favors would have been a nice ray of hope)
11. Knicks (Amare and... Randolph! another PF. They have some nices pieces, just from different puzzles. Maybe Melo next year)
12. Pacers (Stevenson could solve their PG problem after Pacers finally show up for the draft)

The last spot is still too close to call for me.

x2 good list.

i honestly think the cavs won't make the playoffs and have a crapshoot of a roster without lebron. The supporting cast was severely overrated due to the great chemistry they had with James on the team.

honestly, is Mo Williams, Anthony Parker, Jamario Moon, Antawn Jamison, and Big Z a playoff roster?

thats pretty brutal.

You are out of your mind guy. Milwaukee in front of the Celtics? Are you serious. Orlando is on its way out as well. While Miami might have talent, they only have three good players, its not a team its a fantasy team. Boston has the best TEAM. And they are not done building. I expect them to resign tony allen and nate robinson. I also see them obtaining either eddie house or allen iverson. And they still have rasheeds contract to trade, which is very desirable to who ever wants to be trade partners with the celtics. I am connected to the Celtics front office, and the word is they are "going to make a splash, with a huge trade." I dont see how the Celtics are not the class of the east. Bulls are overrated as of right now, but if they gel they become a top 3 team. Boozer doesn't just score points, he makes Rose a lot better as well as giving Deng a chance to be solid again. Then with Reddick(if it happens) and Korver on the wings shooting 3's. Yes, they can beat a team like Boston. Especially since we got your defensive mastermind coach. =P

You're center is Jermaine O'Neil and your team is old. They are my second favorite franchise in the league, but to pull off what they did last year does not seem possible this year. Good luck though. I'll be rooting for them against the heat/magic/lakers if they do it up again.

much better coach? Tom Thibodeau has NEVER been a head coach in the NBA. a much better assistant coach? yes. he hasn't proven anything yet. skiles is the better coach right now.

and boozer won't get you the central division title.

A much better coach as in Vinny<<<<<Thibs

and Boozer doesn't get us central division title And what Magette does

Anyway, Bulls could CERTAINLY be the #2 seed next year. They have a great squad that will probably end up 4-6, not 2... but it could happen.

As I see it...

1. Heat
2. Magic
3. Hawks
4. Celtics
5. Bulls
6. Bucks
7. Cleveland
8. New Jersey

Just Miss out: Philadelphia, New York, and Charlotte

Charlotte loses Felton and I think it'll affect them more than people think.

In that scenario the Bulls would have to be 4th or higher because Orlando Miami Atlanta are all in the same division

I would have to say so far it would be

1. Miami (Wade, Lebron to good and supporting cast will turn out better then people think however I don't think they get out of the east THIS year).
2. Boston( They have one last run in them)
3. Chicago (everyone has said bulls post player away from contender. Boozer, signing of Korver, possibly reddick, this team is building the right way).
4. Orlando( going to lose reddick in my mind, and barnes I think will leave) going to take a small step back
5. Atlanta( will be 4-5 seed in east for long time)
6. Charlotte
7. Milaukee (Could challenge Boston to a 5-6 game series.
8. New Jersey( I think they turn it around and with Avery as coach they will surprise

9. Clevland( still a good team without lebron will challenge for 8th spot)
10 New York ( as of now, depending on moves rest of summer possibly 7 or 8. Just dont think Amare puts them over top yet.

PHI, IND, DET, WASH, these 4 have no chance at playoffs in my mind. Out of the 4 WASH has chance to make it back to playoffs quickest of the 4.

Someone from the Central Division has to be at least a top 4 seed according to league rules.

Too premature as half the teams on this list don't have their rosters full yet. We still have 6 spots open.

that would be something varejo drops 50 on bosh
