View Full Version : Who are the real losers in 2010 free agency?

The obvious choice is CLE, but many other teams struck out acquiring a big name. Who had the worse offseason?

*My bad, i spelled Cavaliers wrong on the thread and i was about to replace Other with the Bulls, but they look like they have a good team going and i don't think i can edit poll options

Knicks. Spend big on Amare, not much of an upgrade from Lee imo in terms of production, now all the 1st/2nd tier FA are gone.

He said in the 2010 free agency, not in general.

Has to be Cleveland. Mass suicides happening there right meow.

def not the Knicks we got the top 4 player in the free agency
gota go with Nets, with all the talking they did about Jay-z and Russian billionaure, they got nothing to show for it.

idk why everyone is saying NY? It was never about just Lebron. They had to break their team full of garbage players.

They got amare. (great move)
16 million to play with.
11 million next year.
they could still build a contending team with the right pieces around Amare, Gallo, Chandler.

Everybody that thought they would get LeBron but didn't, but mainly they Knicks the sucked 2yrs for this guy...just to settle for Amare and Luke Ridnhor?

I may get bashed for this, but I am going to say the Miami Heat! Sure, they got LeBron, Wade, and Bosh, but anything less than 2 or 3 championships over the next 5 years will be a disappointment and now creates such high expectations! If it was just Wade and Bosh, there was wiggle room that if things didn't work out, all was not lost too much. Now that you add LeBron, you better be winning titles over half the time, or this decision will blow up in their faces!

Could someone please explain, how you could vote for anyone besides the Cavs?

Cleveland is the biggest loser, because they lost their best player, making them significantly worse.

It has to be Cleveland, this is going to kill their franchise obviously.

Nets not only lost out on every big name, but then actually gave Travis Outlaw $7 Million a season

They didn't get much better, but at least they didn't become much worse like Cleveland did.

I would say the Nets. They had all this money and AINT GET NO A DAMN THING! Kyle Korver and Travis Outlaw...just sad.

However, the biggest losers are the Cavs cause that team is DONE! Eventhough they are still talented...can u imagine the moral of that team.

Not to mention Houston having the right to swap for their likely lottery pick this next off season and getting their 2012 pick outright. So not only did they miss out but unlike the other gutted rosters they do not have picks to build with.

I have no idea how the Knicks can be the losers. Yeah they banked on LeBron but its not like the stuck out. They got Amare, Kelena, Randolph and Turiaf. The Cavs lost thier best player and got nobody and have zero trade able assets. At least they'll have the room to make a run at a big FA (Carmelo) next off season.

We can't know who the winners and losers are until we see where the rest of the players go and see what teams do with there cap money.

Not getting Wade, Bosh, or Lebron does not mean you lost, and being that today is only the first day players can sign I think its too early to tell.

My answer is not on the list and probably no one is thinking about it.

I think the teams that need to sign players in 2011. I know that LeBron is an exception to the rule in terms of ability but more players are going to want more money because of him and all the other big names who signed with the Heat.

"Oh come on, the Heat could afford three big names, certainly you can afford to pay me ... (insert monetary value)".

I was thinking Memphis because of Rudy Gay's contract but I didn't mention it and I stand by what I said in my other post...waaay to early to tell.

Who where you thinking about that you say no on is thinking about?

obviously im a homer, but why the nets aren't:

all of their players are under 30 and can get better. plus they have cap space for the future. i know the FA didnt turn out like we wanted it to at all, but it could be worse. the players can grow now.

i chose cleveland. lost lebron and added nothing. looks like theyre the loser imo

As of right now, 5 years $35 million looks atrocious. We struck out and are looking at Scola and TT as our starting PF's. We lost big time.

giving away their likely high lottery picks to go all out for the FA and netting none of the big 2 is one of the reasons for it.

Knicks. they just replaced almost the same production (less rebounds more points) of Lee to Amar'e.

i don't care how much "better" Amar'e is, point is, they still give you stats in similar fashion. they got the worse deal in trying to lure Lebron with Amar'e. sorry to say this, noone wants to play with Amar'e (or noone is going to leave their team just for Amar'e)

and if i was Carmelo, i'd stay away as well. If you want to win, go to Chicago or even Brooklyn.

over the years, the NYK has some horrible management issues and signing/trading for moderate talent with big bucks.

Some of you people need to see what the Knicks just did.

You can ***** about the D.Lee Amar'e thing but the facts are we upgraded athletically and slightly defensively with STATs ability to block shots. He can draw a double team and he gets to the FT line. And he is a intimidator who carries a presence Lee doesnt have.

Trading Lee for Randolph, Azu, and Turiaf was like drafting the last few years.
Find a scouting report if you dont have one on these guys. Randolphs ceiling is insane, Turiaf is a bruiser who likes givng hard fouls and playing strong D and Azu is a solid defender and strong athlete and scorer.

Add that to Gallo, Wilson, and TD and you have a solid young core. Jordan will add more length, shot blocking and rebounding. Rautins will provide shooting from deep. Fields can jump out the building. Walkers potential is there.

The Knicks couldnt block a shot for their lives. Randolph, Stat, Turiaf, Jordan, and even Gallo has enough height to provide serious blocking. The Knicks went from lacking height to having a abundance of height. Our 3 new players are good defenders which shores up another weakness. TD is a excellent perimeter defender and Gallo has shown the heart to be decent defensively.

The Knicks are now one of the youngest teams in the NBA. They could be arguably be one of the most athletic teams in the NBA. After a few more moves they could arguably be one of the tallest teams in the NBA.

Ok so to recap....youth, speed, height, shot blocking, toughness, better defensively, good shooting, crazy hops. The Knicks are gonna be a young high flying team. Get us a TP or CP3 to run the point and its alley oops all day. Azu is 28 and Stat is 27 the rest are 25 and under.

The Knicks tried to build a winner through free agency and ended up with a team that looks like we've been drafting for a few years. Im very excited to see Donnies next magic trick. Go Knicks!!

I think it's the Cavs. They were the #1 seed in the east last season and now I'm not so sure they will make the playoffs. They also got humilliated on national tv. Who do they market there now?

I think that the Raptors, though they didn't have a huge chance to begin with there team wasn't great with Bosh so they'll be bad without them. Think at least the Cavs have a bit of cap room.

I dont think cleveland counts, they had no ability to sign anyone, they were going to lose lebron regardless

its gotta be the nets for getting NO ONE

or the knicks for overpaying for a non-upgrade who wont even b on the court half the time with his 80 yr old knees

we suck

Despite losing Amar'e they still received a trade exception for him which could help later this year.
They retained Frye and acquired Warrick (he's no Amar'e, but he'll help keep the team competitive).
