LOS ANGELES -- Guard Steve Blake has signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers announced the deal Thursday after agreeing to terms with the veteran guard last week. Blake got a four-year contract worth $16 million from the two-time defending NBA champions.

Blake finished last season with the Los Angeles Clippers after arriving in February in a trade with Portland. He averaged 8.6 points and 4.8 assists in his seventh NBA season.

Blake could be an important part of the Lakers' rotation next season, particularly if point guard Derek Fisher leaves Los Angeles as a free agent.

Now Mitch is looking more and more like a genius. If we look at all the other FA that we were targeting, they got much more than we were willing to spend. Its a good thing Mitch made an agreement with Blake early. Its crazy how GM's around the league are spending. Haywood got a 6 year 55 mil deal, Oneal got the full MLE, Outlaw got more than the MLE, Miller likely to get more than the MLE. It crazy how some of you guys were criticizing this move. If Mitch didn't make this move, we probably would've ended up getting some scrubs.

yeah and with Nets having ton of money to throw at players... [and bulls too and possibly knicks?]...its going to be hard to get many players to come joins us.

if lebron doesnt go to miami...T Mac might even get better price for going to Miami and play with wade and bosh...Fisher might even get nice deal from miami...ahh.
