We need frontcourt depth. Sadly JO is probably the 2nd best Center on the FA market (Haywood being #1).

Cant say I am excited about this, but it adds much needed depth. And for 2yrs $12 mil..... thats pretty team friendly

I hope Rasheed comes back now. Sheed wasn't bad in the playoffs and Add Jo and a healthy perkins. Nice Rotation.

I think he will. After he spends some time away from the game, I think he'll get the hunger to come back for 1 last run. He hasn't officially filed his papers in, which would rule him ineligible for the 2010-2011 season.

Jermaine O'Neal will most likely replace Rasheed Wallace on the roster. With this move, the Celtics gain more of a low post scorer because last season, Rasheed Wallace was more of a perimeter player. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Kendrick Perkins returns.

If Sheed comes back (50/50) their going have the same kind of year as last). Average season, deep finals run.

Perkins
Sheed
KG
JO
Davis

Even at their ages, that's better than most NBA frontcourts. JO is a a good low post defender, rebounder and shot blocker, and a better scorer than Perk, so it balances it out. Also, JO will be playing in a defensive scheme he hasn't seen in Miami, Rivers will use him well.
They may as well get Kwame brown too now.

Dont forget Harangody. He is really showing signs that he might be able to replace Powe's impact off the bench.

Great signing. He can definitely hold the fort down while Perkins is out. May even be a better player for them.

As an Iverson fan, that would not be a good fit.
Splitting minutes with the teams' most important player (Rondo) and their best shooter (Allen).
Ai to Miami.

As an ancient as he seems, JO is 31. He has two or three solid years left and if nothing else, he can do what P.J. Brown and Sheed did for them in 08 and last season respectively.

I like it as a back-up big man, but not worth if it costs their full MLE. JO isn't worth that at all.

We're working on that. Right now it's just Glen Davis, rookie Avery Bradley, and rookie Semih Erden (7 footer from Turkey). I'm sure we'll be adding pieces in the coming days when all the smoke clears.

I think he'll thrive in boston playing on a very defensive minded team and having a lesser offensive role

Look at the contracts going around.

It's good value even if it is the full MLE.

I heard it is 2yrs/$12m. I mean $6m for a guy who set the record for the worst shooting percentage in NBA playoffs history is a lot...

Love this move for the Celtics. Glen Davis is really the only big man they have left on the bench with Sheed's retirement. This gives them a great backup center and a great backup PF on the bench with O'Neil and Davis.

JO's role will be similar to Sheed's last season, with a little better low-post defense and rebounding. Disregarding age factor for the team, i still dont see much of an upgrade for the Celtics. Good move though, considering Sheed's retirement and the severity of Perkins' injury.

I think it's an upgrade with size. He is almost 7'0". Much better to cover Bynum if they meet again. Sheed and Davis were too short to play the Lakers big men.

Also just got the ESPN text, it is for the 5.7 million MLE.

it's a good signing, a better player for example would be brandon haywood...and the mavs just gave him 55 mio for 6 years.. so we nearly got the best available.

I think offensively it doesn't mean too much. But defensively I love this move. This means the Celtics are planning on making another run at championship. They have all 5 starters returning, and are working to make the bench even stronger. Would be huge to get Nate back. This team is getting old, but they are good enough still with one or two upgrades (O'Neil being one) to be a championship team.

^what this guy said... i dont wanna hear about his crappy playoff performance because when he was on miami he was the ONLY semi decent big man on the team. then he played against the celtics who had the best defense in the playoffs. JO also had to go against perkins KG and rasheed wallace, thats 3 very good post defenders and not to mention if big baby lands on you its gonna hurt alot... the celtics big had nothing else to worry about except JO

bringing him off the bench would give boston's second unit a different dynamic kuz nobody respects rondo's jumper....with the answer u HAVE TO.

also, jesus shuttlesworth is no longer the CHOSEN one. he disappeared after game 2 and i honestly didnt want him back. when has iverson EVER choked? (maybe his baby momma's boyfriend??)
