Dirk Nowitzki said he's optimistic about ending his career with the Mavericks, now that he has four more years to win a championship.

But if that doesn't happen, he said, "Maybe then it'll be time to look at something else and go somewhere else for a year or two."

He has a full no-trade clause.. meaning he has say on where he is traded

Dirk should also announce he's planning on playing basketball until he's 45 while he's at it...

Dirk could probably play into his 40's. As long as he can knock down the 3, he is still a mismatch on the court at 7 foot.

He was too loyal (not a knock on him), but he really shouldve looked for a ring this year. Put him on the Bulls and the Bulls are probably the best team in the East.

IF he doesnt somehow get a ring in the next few years, realistically i can see him looking elsewhere to try and get it

Well by the time he's 36 it really won't be that big of a loss for the Mavs.

He stated in the past that he wants to end his career in Europe.

When asked about a transfer in Greece last year, he said that he would love that, but not in the near future.
By the time his contract ended, Bayern Munchen would be an ideal choice if they manage to establish themselves in Europe in the next 3 years. (they have only recently started investing in their basketball team)

l have a hard time believing the Mav's ever build a team around Dirk enough to win a championship. Teams like the Mav's and Hornets think their one star (Dirk and Paul) are good enough to win a championship. You need a strong starting 5 more in the NBA now then ever to win a championship.

Misleading thread title, he said he'd look around after his contract is over.

Dirk, if you don't get a championship by the end of the contract, consider your career over. Don't stick around hoping to ride coattails. No point in hanging around the dancehall when the women and musicians (i.e., your talent) have left and the bar (i.e., your championship dreams) is closed.

Retire a Mav Dirk. He's one of the top current current players I respect the most already. That will solidify it. Not that my opinion matters but still...
