10 mil a year? Yikes. I don't think he's worth that personally.

Good deal.

They're paying a lot but this is a short term deal so they can try 1 or 2 more times before blowing things up.

Good move, but boy I didn't expect the 10mil a year salary. So now all they have to divy up is their MLE, but they will still contend these last 2 years.

Good deal for both sides. Ray gets a decent amount of money and another chance to win a title and the Celtics aren't giving him many years thus being able to go younger when Ray and KG come off the books in a couple of years.

Nice, keep the group together and get another shot. Celtics are still the team to beat in the East, regardless of the signings.

Ray Allen is re-signing with the Boston Celtics, according to his agent Lon Babby.

Babby told ESPN.com on Wednesday that Allen and the Celtics have agreed to a two-year deal worth $10 million annually that includes a player option for the 2011-12 season.

Marc Stein is a senior NBA writer for ESPN.com.

10 mil annually is a good deal.
The Darko signing is too much and once Lebron falls to a team and the rest of the league overpays for remaining free agents this deal will look even better.

Damn, he took close to a 10mill pay-cut. He and Pierce combined have 16mill less than last year, does this give the Celtics any flexibility?

Good point. I would have been tempted to blow it up this year, but might as well ride out KG's contract and try to fill out the bench with some impact vets. Although they could start helping themselves out a little more in the draft...

The Lakers may win the title again but as of right now the East is now clearly better than the West. Boston, Orlando, Miami, and possibly Cleveland or Chicago are better than the number 2 in the West.

Good move by the celtics, Ray would of been a hot commodity after Bron chose his destination.

I'm surprised he decided to sign the contract now, he could of waited for more $ I would think.

Super.

More like even if they were willing to pay him 10 million, he'd much much rather stay in Boston than leave.

I was going to say that it was too much, but I respect that its all in keeping the little 3 together. (The Only Big Three of Boston is Bird, McHale and Perish). Congrats! Do good in the east Boston!

Glad to see Ray Ray has found a home in Boston. So far, so good. Some may say the East is better than the West, but all I really see is teams loading up in the East that will smack each other around in the playoffs. The Eastern Champion will hold a Pyrrhic victory by the time they get to the Finals. I like our chances.

He is still a truly valuable player, which he proved in the finals. One of the greats in the game, both on and off the court.

In Seattle he actually proved he is a great all-round player, and more than just a great shooter. I'm glad he is still cashing in on that sweet stroke.

"SUGAR RAY with the SWEET three!"

I don't get why some people are saying the deal is a lot of money.

The C's had no cap room to sign free agents anyways, it really doesn't matter.

no, they were almost over the cap when they signed Pierce to a new contract and now they are way over the cap.

But in 2 years they will have every contract besides Rondo's coming off the books. So I guess then they start rebuilding around Rondo.

Minor correction: the Celtics were over the cap before re-signing Pierce and Allen due to having Bird Rights cap holds. They actually could have relinquished the rights on both players and afforded a max contract player.

In two years they will have every contract besides Rondo and Pierce coming off the books.
