Just wondering, obviously nothing is official and LBJ could end up In NYC, Brooklyn (lets just start calling the Nets that), Chicago, Cleveland, etc.

But if he goes there, would you cheer for this team, cause I'm guessing they'd be widely hated by Bulls fans, Cleveland fans, Toronto fans, Nets fans, and Knicks fans.

Just wondering what you guys think? Support/Like them? Yay or Nay?

yes, this will interest me in the NBA now personally.

Now there is an enemy, a super villain, probably for a long time

I love it

If they get someone I want to see win a ring, then yes (ie: kurt thomas). Or if they play the Lakers.
Otherwise, I wouldn't mind seeing the potential new big 3 falter.

I won't mind them if they are just Wade/Bosh but with LeBron it would be pretty hard not to root against the guys.

I like Wade as a player, but I'll never be a fan of another team.

I might, however, be compelled to watch a game or two of them in the regular season (and probably in the playoffs), if this scenario actually occurs.

if all 3 of them end up in miami, i will stop watching the NBA all together. stern and the players association should have put their foot down on this non sense. none of the free agents should have been able to talk to each other at any point in this process. if they are setting up a super team down in florida, and the NBA let them get away with that whilst cutting contract salaries to do it, then i would give up on the NBA. who wants to watch one team win it all for "X amount" years straight? (excluding miami and bandwagon fans)

But do you really want Lebron too?
The Heat, with Bosh, are capable of winning it all with the right supporting cast.
If I were a Heat fan, I'd want a good PG and a shooter like Korver. That team would be sick with additions like that.

You will also be crying yourself to sleep at night after they lose first round. You don't have a solid bench at all considering youll spend all your money and then youll wonder why you lose. Lakers win with a recipe of ROLE players, 2 superstars, and a solid bench.

The Celtics filled out their bench after they brought KG and Allen in. That was the biggest knock about them, and they proved everyone wrong. Miami has some money to spend, and let's not forget- this FA class is not just top heavy, but it is very deep. I'm sure they can lure in a ton of great vets, role players, players willing to take a pay cut to win, etc.

They're bench will be fine. Book it.

The only good thing about all this Free Agency / Media frenzy is that no one really cares about the Lakers winning the Championship

JasonJohnHorn
07-07-2010, 06:44 PM
Nope. Wont really be cheering for them, and I dont even think the team will be that good to be honest. Some great starters, some of the best at their positions, but the team will have no depth and when people try to stack the deck, it just takes the fun out of it. I'd rather see a team like Portland or Hawks do well than stacked teams that just get to pick up all-stars to add to their roster every year. That's why I had a hard time enjoying the Shaq/Kobe Lakers and to a less extent the Kobe/Gasol Lakers. Though I made an exception for the Celtics when they picked up Garnett and Allen because it was all via reasonable trades I thought, and they have a great defensive mindset and team play.

So... they may be fun to watch, but I'd rather see teams like Philly and Atlanta and though I shutter at the thought, maybe even Orlando do better (and of course the Celtics).

Amen.

There's something wrong with a league that allows a cartel of players to sit down with each other and decide where they're going to play.

I'll only root for them when they play the Lakers.

If LeBron joins Wade and Bosh in Miami, how are all three going to co-exist with each other? The NBA is going to have to come up with extra basketballs so all three of them will be happy.

The whole thing is a joke and it's been made a joke by 3 grown ups who choose to parade around like children that get no attention. No 1 person or 3 people should be bigger than the game and the overall achievement of winning and bosh and lebron have made a spectacle out of all this and total ***** of themselves. Wade has been the only classy one about it funny he's the only one with a RING so he knows what the game is about. For someone who has never won a title lebron is a joke and when his career is done and he has no titles to show for it were all going to look back at what he's done here as a partial reason. He caved in under pressure against the celtics and has put more pressure on himself than anyone in sports and he's NEVER going to play up to the expectations he's set himself up to Jordan never pulled any **** like this he had class and didn't need to act like an insecure child. This is all hype like lebron has been his entire career for someone who's never won anything to act and present himself this way is disgusting in every way.

07-07-2010, 07:00 PM
why would LBJ come to a team that belongs to Dwade...for all this talk about Lebron's ego, do you think he'll really take second fiddle in Miami...let's say he does come and wins championships, would it tarnish his legacy a little bit for not being able to win it all as the head honcho, i don't know about you but to me the Heat will always be Wade's team

blastmasta26
07-07-2010, 07:00 PM
I would never support a big 3 in Miami. Not because I'd be bitter that LBJ didn't come to NY, but because they would be unstoppable and it wouldn't be good for the NBA to have the Lakers or Heat dominate every year. Besides, LeBron shouldn't need to team up with two other star players to win a title. Competition is what it's all about. It's much more exciting to have 4-5 contenders than just 1-2.

Nope. Let's see if they really do take less to help Riley fill out the roster or take the max & then are playing with a ton of minimum level guys & then add a MLE guy each season going forward. If they take less I will really respect them, but I think that is just all talk by those two. I wonder how many veterans they'll be able to convince to come play for the league minimum. Because they aren't going to be able to win with all rookies next to their star pair.

What?

I won't necessarily cheer for them or root against them but I would probably watch a few of there games but in the finals if they were against the Lakers I would probably root against them because I would want to see Phil get the 4th 3peat and Kobes 6th championship

I really don't see how people hate on the thought of Bosh/Wade/James teaming up together. When Garnett/Pierce/Allen teamed up, that trio wasn't far off from this trio. Also, the Lakers getting Artest to join Kobe/Gasol/Odom has a similar level of talent- though spread throughout 4 players.

I really don't like Boston or the Lakers, so I would welcome a team doing to them what they have done to others.

Agreed. I think great players should play against other great players. I don't get people who are for this, except Heat fans they should be stoked. But put it this way:

Would you guys rather watch the Heat just dominate every team to the Finals, or would you rather watch say Lebron and Stoudamire, Lebron and the Cavs, Lebron and Boozer and Rose play against Wade and Bosh and a solid core of other guys?

Its terrible watching teams get blown out, no excitement. The only other teams that could compete with them in the east are Orlando and Boston right now, maybe Chicago. But still we all know who the favorites would be in those series.

Meh its a little different though. KG, Pierce and Allen were all 30 or above, and had a couple years left.

Pau got traded to the Lakers for what we look back at now, as not quite a heist, but a pretty good return for the Grizz too. He didn't decide to sign with them, and he wasn't a top 10 player when they got him. Artest basically got their via a swap with Ariza, and Odom got dealt there with Shaq. They didn't team up necessarily as the Heat are doing now, neither did the Celts, Allen was traded to Boston not on his demands that he wanted to play there, but it was just a trade that Ainge pulled off.

pau gasol is better than bosh
kobe is better than or equal to wade
and the lakers have artest to at least keep lebron from going off

who does miami have to defend pau, bynum, and odom. bosh is as sorry a defender as it gets and while wade and lebron are both good defenders bosh and whatever center they don't have will get them killed in the paint

the best players in the series would go like this

lebron=kobe
wade
gasol

bynum
artest

yep

wade is kobe and MJ like in that he loves his shots in the clutch. the olympics were a perfect showing of how this relationship will work out

lebron took backseats while kobe and wade took over against spain kobe with his 18 straight points accounted for and wade on the other side of those assists

lebron would take backseats and his legacy will crumble while wade's skyrockets into legendary status up there with the kobe's and MJ's of the SG world and probably top 15 all time

Really you would rather see the Heat win multiple championships become the greatest team in history and forever glorify the franchise then have gritty constests every season and never actually succeed in winning a championship...
but why?

This is the problem I have with it. Its not like the Bulls in this sense. Chicago played when the east conference was still the stronger conference, people forget that they'd often got pushed to 6-7 games by the Knicks and Pacers. Well maybe besides the 72 win year.

All I'm saying is that it creates such a disparity in comparison to the other teams in the east. Lets put it this way:

Round 1 vs. the Bobcats... massacre
Round 2 vs. Celtics.... might be a good series if Boston is completely healthy, just because of their terrific team defense.
Round 3 vs. Magic... massacre. Dwight Howard can handle Bosh, but if he gets into any sort of foul trouble its over. If they woulda got Boozer i think it'd be a better series, maybe if they get CP3 they can do some good.

But I'm just saying, the only 2 teams that might win 2 games against them would be Boston or Orlando, and Boston doesn't have a prime big 3 anymore. Maybe Chicago.

The Lakers had to work the past 2 season to get to the Finals. The Thunder, Suns, Nuggets, Rockets all pushed them to a very hard 6-7 games. Then this year they go down 3-2 to the Celts and take it. It made for exciting basketball in the western conference.

All I want to see is a balancing of powers in the eastern conference, they can win 10 rings, but IF LBJ goes to the Heat (still up in the air), you put arguably 3 of the top 5 players in the east on one team.

I just want to see competitive basketball in the eastern conference. Lets be real teams 5-8 in the EC playoffs are terrible compared to the WC teams at 5-9. Its bad for the eastern conference.

You have to think of the quality of the rest of their team. A lot of times, games come down to bench play and role players. If the Heat were to sign all three of these guys, they would be screwed as far as signing quality guys to fill in while they rest. I see them doing okay, but not making it out of the east with the Magic, Bulls and always aging Celtics still in full force.

Because they aren't going to be able to win with all rookies next to their star pair.

I'd root against them. If Miami happened to land those 3 then that's one thing. But I don't think 3 of the top free agents should be allowed to conference together and plan where they end up so they can try to guarantee a championship. Maybe this happens all the time behind the scenes, but the way these three have put on this huge spectacle has been very discouraging. People complain that the Yankees get all the big names in baseball, but you didn't hear of Burnett, Sabathia, and Teixeira, etc having phone calls together to determine where they should sign.

This would essentially shut down the East, and maybe even the NBA, for the next 6-8 years...Nobody, and I mean nobody, could take that team out

If Lebron were to sign with the Knicks (like I want him to), it would create 2 really really good teams that you would expect to compete in the top 4 in the East and not blow everybody away every single night like this Dream team would

We have one of the best if not the best GM's in Riley. He took a gamble, a HUGE gamble, and its payinig off. He wasted 2 years of wades prime and will likely dump (beasley) the #2 overall pick just 2 years ago who i guarantee will be a 20/10 in the right situation, at 20 years old. Could we have traded in our expirings at the deadline for amare or someone else? yep. but we didnt, we gambled, and its paying off. Did we take on elton brand for evan turner? nope. and its paying off. We watched a truly bad team for a couple of years, we stuck through it, and will reap the benefits, sorry to see a lot of u giving up on ur teams and an amazing sport cuz someone took a monster gamble nd its paying off. truly sad.

to those of u complaining, **** YOU. easily manipulated, bad for the nba, unfair, the heat gave up a ton (and the big 3 isnt even assembled yet) to get to this point... We watched a truly bad team for a couple of years, we stuck through it, and will reap the benefits, sorry to see a lot of u giving up on ur teams and an amazing sport cuz someone took a monster gamble nd its paying off. truly sad.

Honestly this is why i hate the idea of them joining... I want to see good basketball, and we won't see it if arguably the 3 best players in the eastern conference at their positions join 1 team. I'd rather watch the renewal of a rivalry with Amare and James vs Wade and Bosh in the ECF.

I'd rather watch LBJ stay in Cleveland and play against the Heat... he would look like a saviour if that happend.

I want to see good basketball in the eastern conference, but not with it already being weak, it gets worse through a competitive stand point.

wow... when players go to bad teams that offer more money we mock them and call them greedy. We question why they didn't take less money to play for a winner.

Now some guys DO actually do that, sacrifice money for wins, and we are appalled???

hmmmm. double standard?

I only cheer for my team, so i'll be rooting against them either way, but this would make me hate the Heat who i actually like, if it were a good move for the league id be all for it, but it's not.

Lebron to the Knicks would be great for the NBA, it makes them playoff contenders to go up against Miami, Orlando, Chicago, Boston, thus making great television for the NBA. But either this super-3 will be as amazing as everyone things and completely dominate, or it'll fail and just leave everyone shaking their heads.

All it has to do with is the fact that people know that their NBA team is going to have a helluva time winning a title if these three unite. We aren't appalled because they're selfish, we're just pissed off because it almost seems unfair. Not a double standard, completely different.

Yay or Nay?

I will not hate that team... besides wade who I have hated for a while(total Nets KILLER!!!)

That team should be hated by a lot of teams not just the teams with Cap room. they take Bosh from Tor, Bron from his hometown and keep their superstar. So unfair to the Lg...
This team if they get some minimums will make the Lakers look like nothin IMO

I respect LeBrons decision. He wants to win. GO FOR IT.
Cant blame him for the Nets risky management.

I suppose I might be one of the few who would hate to have the Holy Trinity together. I think it would be bad for the game. I also believe they wouldnt win anything in the first 2 years at least. Again, I would honestly hate to see those three together. Also, I am not sure they can all mesh. There is only one ball with three 20+ players in their prime. I dont see that working out to well. But if it happens, it happens. Oh well. Nothing lasts forever.

Chicago has much better pieces for a championship run. They have post guys like NOAH and BOOZER. Bosh is a three posing as a four and not a force on defense.

If I were LBJ, Chicago would be a no brainer...they have a much more wellrounded supporting cast for him. And Derrick Rose will take away some ballhandling duties from him.

The Lakers would still be better than the Heat if LeBron were to join Miami today, because they will have a more balanced team. And I'm done betting against Kobe Bryant after last season.

In my five years of PSD I have questioned Kobe so many times, from his decisionmaking, shot selection, attitude...etcetera...but it's clear to me that the man is the biggest winner in the NBA, like him or not. I've given up tryin to dispute it.

I rather have a team with guys who know their role than a team of guys who are used to being THE guy and have to accustome themselves in a team concept. I know what I would pick...a more traditional NBA team.

I'd bet my house they don't win the championship next year. Hell, I bet they don't win the ECF next year. Or watch... Hahhahaa, good, then don't watch. Everyone is so butt hurt about this. Riley did nothing wrong, and gutted his team for a CHANCE to make this happen. It was a huge risk. The players are free to talk, and free to play on ANY team they choose. Every one of you fans would be absolutely thrilled if Wade/Bosh/Lebron all decided to sign with your team. They signed these contracts with the idea that they could play together. Now the idea is becoming a reality. Heat fans had to sit through three agonizing years (Though we still made the playoffs the last two as a 5 seed) as Riley started setting up the expiring contracts. Everyone's acting as if they're 14 years old and the girl you liked just gave you the cold shoulder. "Well, fine! I never liked her anyways! I want to go home! Boo hoo."
