Not sure how reliable the source is.

Pistonscast contributing host & Message Board Messiah Adam Lader is reporting Ben Wallace is planning on retiring this summer.

Adam has an inside source close to the family down in Alabama. (former babysitter)

Remember where you read it and heard it first.

I would still love him on the magic (even though he was!!!). Seeing him at PF and Dwight at center would be a great rebounding/defensive combo.

lol. Ye, I'm going to need a more reliable source.

But if it is true, he a great career in the nba. One of the great underdog stories.

Yeah, I read some stuff that he was leaning this way towards the end of the season. Hopefully he comes back for one more season to play on a contender. He showed last season he can still play.

I don't think he would go to another team, The only reason he came back to Detroit last season is because he wanted to retire on the team where he made his name. I know hes been working out in Detroit for the last Month or so. Not sure why he would retire now.

I would hate to see Big Ben go I think he got 1 more good year in him, guy was pretty good last season as a 35yr old Center....he could teach Monroe a lot.

I can see why Ben would be leaning toward retirement, the Pistons aren't in a title hunt and he wanted to end his career as a Piston.

Really? I highly doubt Ben Wallace is a HOFer, he had an incredible career but I just don't see him getting in. I could see him getting in but not for a while at the least, people will overlook him because he wasn't a good offensive player, fair or not.

Why? No one forced the Bulls to overpay him. They signed him to spite the Pistons and ended up taking it in the backside. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

So long Ben. You will remembered for that incredible 2004 Finals and that block over Shaq in 2006.

He was arguably the best player on the Pistons last season. That isn't saying alot, but still. He could be in the rotation for any team in the league next season. Unless he hurts his knee and has a coach that doesn't know how to use him, like Scott Skiles.

ummm, he has won more DPOYs than anyone in the history of the NBA and was a 4 time all-star. He is an all-time great when it comes to defense and widely considered the greatest defender of his generation.

Those of you saying he has been done for 5 years, if that was true, why has he continued to be a starter He has been a full time starter each of the past 10 seasons.

While he wasn't the same player he was in 04, last year Ben Wallace still played good.

i actually didn't realize he had that many highlights this year; pretty good season. This is the main one I remember from 2009-2010. You have to admit, it was pretty funny.

I'll tell you what Joe D better get out of his lazy-boy and do some work. Big Ben was a great contributor to Pistons basketball in 2009. I would hate to see him retire, injuries, aches and pains must be getting the best of him.

Joe D needs to seriously get out the calculator it's time to get creative with busy backcourt minus a true PG, as well as 6 other cats playing the same position. He can call Jerebko, Daye, Maxiel, Prince, Summers, Villanueva whatever he wants they're Shooting forwards, and two of them can't shoot, two more can't rebound, and only one plays defense.

IMO Joe D has 11 players that ONLY play two postions either SG or SF. Sure you can play these guys at center and power forwards but you can't defend another team, and you won't win. Don't get me wrong these are good people decent players but not all on the same team.

If I was Detroit I would play Prince at SG, similar to how Orlando played Hedo in 2008 playoff's, and how Lakers play Odom - - keep Ben Gordon as 6th man coming off the bench and deal Rip, Maxiel, Stuckey, give away CV for tin of copenhagen sign Bynum, try to land a center or true PG.

I think he has 1 year left in him to be somewhat productive. I'd be surprised if he retired.

Yeah I'm sure a playoff team could use him off of the bench next year, he may not be the length the Jazz need but I'd love to him for his defense and work ethic.

Maybe he isn't retiring lol

When free-agent big man Ben Wallace re-signs with the Detroit Pistons, which he is expected to do, he’ll likely take on the role of teacher for rookie Greg Monroe.

“There’s no question in my mind Ben will help him," coach John Kuester said today from Las Vegas, where the franchise's summer-league team is practicing.
