Not a 6 year deal? That is very good for the Mavs.

We all expected Dirk to retire a Dallas Maverick.

Cuban has done a solid job of making moves to try and better the team.

Good news. Now some of the other FAs have to follow suit and sign with their own teams.

Dirk staying in Dallas is a good thing. The more the landscape stays the same, the more it benefits the Lakers.

It's early yet, but if the other teams around the league don't make any improvements, while the Lakers bring in Fisher's replacement and improve their bench, advantage Lakers.

Now they need to trade Kidd for a younger PG then S&T for LBJ

The most he could get was 4 years due to his age. This is great for the Mavs.

I don't see LBJ going to Dallas for some reason. That would be the surprise of the decade if he did. It would make the West a thrill ride, depending on who Dallas gave up to get him.

true but he needs to focus on what team is set to win now. in my opinion, lbj's window isnt that far open. kobe is still reigning and durant is the future. lbj needs to go to a team that is primed and ready to win now if that is indeed what he wants.

if he doesn't win in three years he wont win at all. depending of course if the Thunder all stick together and Durant stays.

what does he do? nothing. he will be under his contract for 3 more years unless he signs a 3 year contract. he will be around 30 coming out of that contract and who knows how he will be still playing at that age. not saying he will be garbage at that age but he has logged a bunch of miles on his body.

Right, well, that's the billion dollar question: What is LeBron's top priority? If it's a well-developed roster, the Bulls likely appeal to him for the same reason, especially if they can sign both LeBron and Bosh.

The Mavericks still have some moves that they could make that would make them formidable...without LeBron.

You should probably start a new thread on that and keep this one on Dirk on point.

if lbj goes to chicago you can bank on rose getting traded before his contract runs out.

Maybe, maybe not. If I were Cuban, I wouldn't get all caught up in the LeBron sweepstakes. Dallas underachieved last year. i don't see Dallas going further if adding LeBron means robbing the Mavs of core talent. And I do think that any sign & trade would include current Mavs that are essential to their success.

What about the lunch that Dirk and JKidd where having in NYC on Thursday didnt that mean they were signing with the Knicks?!?! I mean when Lebron, Wade, and Bosh meet in Chicago its a done deal!

Now that Dirk is signed, agreed until the 8th...it's time Dallas adds another piece. If not a top tier FA, Al Jefferson could be a possibility since Haywood might be demanding more than his worth and the Mavs would likely let him walk.

The Dallas Mavericks got the answer they were hoping for Saturday night: Dirk Nowitzki has pledged to re-sign with the only team he's ever played for.

Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com that Nowitzki and Mavericks owner Mark Cuban have reached terms on a new four-year contract after a series of wrap-up meetings that consumed much of the day.

The deal, sources said, is worth at least $80 million and includes a no-trade clause, with Nowitzki making good on a longstanding offer to Cuban to take less than the maximum $96.2 million he could have received over the next four seasons in exchange for assurances that the Mavericks will use that financial flexibility to ramp up their efforts to acquire a top-tier sidekick.

No matter who you want to blame around the league for not having won a championship, you sure as heck can't blame Cuban or Dirk for not doing everything possible.

Your comment is lame.
