"Fisher reportedly turned down a one-year, $2.5 million contract offer from the Lakers today, and is in talks with the Cavaliers and Heat. Farmar has been tied only to the Pacers, and was not expected to be retained by L.A. under any scenario."

Stop the foolishness...You see Lakers fans?

Now there's rumors Dfish is going to leave...Now does this really sound like it makes sense to you.

Or is it to create bargaining.

Maybe he'll sign with the Heat and go along-side James, Wade, Amare, Shaq, and Ray Allen. LOL!

This could easily be true but I would be very, very surprised if he did not come back to the Lakers next year.

Remember last off-season and all of the rumors with Lamar. Each day it was something different.

Honestly if I'm Ainge I ask Fisher to come to Boston for 2 years 6 million, half the MLE and keep him from Lakers, and give you a great backup PG

this is called negotiating. agent leaks it out there cause fishers ego says he is worth evey dollar of his 5 million dollar salary when he clearly isnt. in this market 2.5 is fair, considering its actually 5 million against the lakers given the luxury tax

A smart lakers fan!!! If the lakers give them those then they will stay!!
but 2.5 for one year? He could go start in miami for more money

He already has championships so i see him leaving to get more money to provide for his family and the daughter's medical things

We're not that desperate for a PG. We have Toney Douglas who is extremelly under-rated
Chris Duhon. is off the team, Lakers should sign Him :D

The Robert Horry and Derek Fishers are always winning championships and always making big shots. He's not a great player but he is clutch. I'll take him especially if we are making a playoff push

Fish did leave once. It's not like his whole career has been in LA. I think he goes back to LA, but he'll consider other options, IMO.

Lets not forget that Fish will leave without any hesitation if he doesn't get what he wants. It kind of angers me why he wouldn't just take the deal......No way he is worthy anything significant in the market right now. He is just using this as leverage and I'm afraid that it isn't going to work. He'll be back though.

Neither team needs him for a price over $3 million per year. The only way this makes sense for Cleveland is if they trade Mo for someone.

Didn't expect him to be re-signed with the Blake deal anyway. If he goes to the Cavs more incentive for King James to stay.

how could they only offer 2.5 mill when they gave blake that much n offered mike miller like 30 mil for 5 yrs i mean give him what he's worth
n thats alot when he is your team leader n the best player in the nba tells everyone that he is the leader both physically n emotionally

How much longer does he have in him to play?

I personally think he should retire. His play has consistently dropped the past two years and he proves he can still play in the playoffs, but his season play is too much of a liability now. Thats why I think its a little bit of a dick move on fisher's to try to play this leverage game at this point.

Impulse

I'd take him on the Heat for the right price assuming Wade stays. Wade can use a veteran presence at point to make smart decisions and hit the occasional three.

Nobody wants to sign a 1year deal with the looming lock out so he's probably looking for a longer deal for financial security.

Derek is the co-leader of LA, and they need to do what they can to bring him back. The problem is there were two Fisher's last year. Derek of the regular season shot 38%, 7.5 pts, and only 2.5 assists in almost 30 min. per night.
Derek of the playoffs stepped up the energy & efficiency. I can't see teams giving a 36 yr old back up point more than 3 million? I'd say give him a two years with a team option third for 10 million including the final year. He just needs some security.

I'd hate to lose Fish, but LA is already way over the cap and I can't see using the MLE on him. (That's the kind of money he wants.) I wish he would play a few more years and transition into a coach like Shaw did.

Does anyone still see him as a starter?

He would start in front of Blake like Harper and AC Green started in 2000.

I dont see why he considers himself more then a 3 mil player. He's the heart of the Lakers but he isnt worth no 5 mil nor more then 3. I mean its not like he's been even close to consistent for us. He just seems to come up big in the playoffs but even thats not worth 5 mil if you dont show jack during the regular season.

I still think though he'll return to the Lakers

I'm not mad at Fisher.

If he can get more money, so be it. This is going to be his last contract, so he might as well earn while he can. I'm sure Fisher would prefer that the Lakers were the ones signing the checks, but if not, a man has a family to look after and a daughter that evidently is going to be permanently disabled. Why not work toward one last big payday, so that she won't have to work a day in her life?

No, I'm not mad at Fisher at all.

Hopefully it will shake out in the end and Fisher will return and retire as a Laker. But if not, then I wish him the best.

If we get Bosh and Wade, then I think Fisher is a good pickup at $3-4M. That would leave us between $7-8M to resign Haslem and Anthony. That gives us 10 players including our 2nd rd picks and we pick up some minimum level vets.

Fisher/Chalmers
Wade/Bell
Beasley/Butler
Bosh/Haslem
Anthony/Ilgascuz
