Wow, Blake, if Lakers lose Fisher this is horrible IMO, guy really isn't that quick so not an upgrade there, good shooter, passer though. Solid vet but not sure he brings anythign to this team they don't alreayd have at PG.

Mudvayne91

He was pretty awful for the Nuggets, personally from watching Laker games, I'd rather have Farmer. He could have just looked better because there was Allstars around him though.

Some people love the signing, some hate it? I think it matters if you re-sign fisher. If you let Fisher go for whatever reason it's a mistake IMO. If you re-sign Fisher and this is your backup he's more consistent but not nearly as athletic to help Fisher with quicker G's like Aaron Brooks who give LA trouble.

Miller did not want to sign the contract we offered, well actually he wanted to "wait it out" but Buss is known to pretty much say "your lucky were giving u this offer to this team, take it or get out of here". So I'm guessing he took that root and blake wanted to take a deal instead.

We still give about over 2 mill of the MLE, we can use it for guys like raja bell, or t-mac, ronnie brewer, tony allen, etc.

I think this was their third option after M. Miller and Raja Bell. As a non-Laker fan, I'm glad this is the one they got.

It absolutely still helps them, though. I see him coming off the bench and essentially splitting the minutes with Fish if he re-signs (we really need a different word for the shorthand of resigning and resignation - especially with old dudes like Fish!). They get the dependable three point threat to spread the floor a bit. All they really needed this summer.

How much money does this leave us to toy around with then? Does this mean that Fish and Brown are out or we can only sign one? And do we still have enough for a backup SG? We desperately need to get a backup for Kobe. Can we still possibly get Bell or TMAC?

We could still sign Fisher AND Brown since we have bird rights for both, but I doubt Buss is gonna spend the money and we don't really need both now. We still have about $1-2 mil left of the MLE for Tmac or Bell if they are willing to take a paycut.

He's the poor man's Hinrich, and the Lakers couldn't be happier.

That's just not true. There's a reason why Portland was trying to get Hinrich for a while and it's because Blake isn't a starter in this league. He's a good shooter but he isn't nearly as good of a pickup as some are making it out to be. If you are expecting defense from Blake you are incredibly mistaken as well, he also plays smaller than his size indicates. I do think it's a good signing but not a move that makes the champs any scarier.

I don't like the move at all to be honest. He may be a good player but ALL of our explosiveness is potentially taken away from our bench. Both Farmar and Brown were extremely fast and were explosive going to the hoop. Who the hell is going to provide that spark plug in the second unit and take it to the rim strong besdies Odom?

It doesn't travel when said explosiveness's motto is "Have game but it doesn't travel"

Those 2 would have both had much shorter rope to chuck, mismanage the shot clock, blow defensive rotations, turn the ball over, ignore Pau, Bynum, and Lamar down low, and give the ball to Kobe with with 5 seconds or less left had Luke Walton been healthy enough to play and we all know it.

I think far too many are expecting a home run here, when all we need to do is get on base and keep moving the runners over. This is our first move, but not our last. Hah, I meant the majority of fans in PSD absolutely hated Fisher during the regular season. You do have to admit, he played poorly. Come playoff time though, he stepped it up and came through which is really all that matters.

That is true. He didn't play well, but I also explained that was on the heavy minutes early in the year after LA went on the road because Shannon/Jordan's game doesn't travel as that is when he started to play bad. At the end of the year Phil took the losses despite having a chance at HCA and basically sat him to rest even though he played 1st and 3rd quarters while Kobe and Bynum healed to get him recharged for the playoffs. It worked out, and honestly I think Blake is a blessing to him as he has had no reliable backup in the 3 years he has been back with the Lakers and his minutes always were shooting up from the all star break on as a result of it.

I still defended him and took my lumps to tell you all, I told you so and never doubt Fish though
