Boston Celtics guard Tony Allen(notes) received at least four calls yesterday from teams interested in possibly signing him, according to HoopsWorld.

The site reports that the 28-year-old got a call from the team he went up against in the NBA Finals, the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as the New Jersey Nets, Miami Heat, and Chicago Bulls.

Boston selected the Chicago native with the 25th pick of the 2004's first round. He averaged 2.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 6.1 points in 16.1 minutes per game this past season.

No range whatsoever, undersized, looked good because of a great team defense by the Celtics, no thanks.

What? You should not compare this guy to Ron. It is not even close! Allen can stay there along side their dirty and cry babies friends. We need shooting and defense.

Do not call the Celts good defense. The refs are the ones that made them look great.

Our first priority should be Miller (other than resigning Fisher/Shannon).

It wouldn't hurt to sign him if he comes cheap. We can never have too many defenders that's for sure.

I woudnt mind him but only as a last resort. He is a similar player to shannon brown but plays much tougher D. As a replacement for Brown, im ok with

defenders are hard to find than shooters in this league. I dont agree with spending the whole MLE on T.Allen but if they can split the MLE on two players and sign Allen along with a shooter I am all for it. The chance of landing him is low though bidding against the cap room bonanzas like the Heats, Nets, and Knicks.

What do you guys think?

i think this is a smoke screen....i dont think the lakers are really interested in tony allen, i just think they're trying to get mike miller to sign faster before any other teams take better shots at him...jus think bout it, if you was mike miller would you wanna turn down 30 mil from the 2 time defending champs?? he obviously wants more money, but doing this i think is gonna sway him even faster..hes starting to have doubts now that the lakers are moving on from him...i wouldnt be surprised if we lock up mike miller in the next couple days

No on Tony Allen, I don't think he can help the beach. I would take TMAC over Allen, Lakers need to get some Offense from the bench.

Tony Allen is pointless, he can't hit a open JUMP SHOT.

Allen isn't a good fit for the triangle...He can't shoot...I rather wait and see on our rookie Ebanks...

Steve Blake was a great signing! Now the next question is he gonna start or come off the bench with Odom? Blake and Odom off the Bench would be GREAT..............Lakers still need a lot of bodies though if Fish leaves

Departures - Fish, Farmer, Brown, Powell, Benga, Morrison

Pick-ups - Blake, Ebanks, ?, ?, ?, ?

and no money lol how the hell we gonna fill these spots? I would love another savy vet like Kurt Thomas

I really think Tmac is thinking about LA a lot now. We still require a pg, sg, sf, and pf/C off the bench... we got a lot of work ahead of us especially if we don't sign Fish.

Agree. Tmac would be tight but only for a reasonable deal. No Mike Miller rumor 30 mil money

Ronnie Brewer is a FA what do you guys think about him?

He's out of the Lakers' price range. If it were between Allen and Brewer I'd rather have Brewer, but the Lakers have no need for either player. Neither can shoot the basketball, they'd basically be a more athletic Artest but with worse shooting.

robdizzle3
07-03-2010, 01:17 AM
I dont know why we're after him. Why should we be? The guy has no sort of offense, yea he can defend, but we have Ron, so we dont need him and if anything, we showed the blueprint on how to guard him. He cant score, I dont want him.
