ESPN's Ric Bucher said Thursday that the Suns and Amare Stoudemire are no longer in contract talks.
Amare is going to get a big offer from someone, and every team with cap space available is going to hit him with offers. It's still possible he could return to the Suns, but that's looking very unlikely at this point.

I don't know where this report came from, but Bucher just said on espn that they are still talking, that Phoenix offered max for five years, which would be mre money than he will get at a max with anyone else, and is still looking like the favorite.

I really think that Stoudemire is underrated. The dude is an absolute beast and a force in the paint. He has great athleticism and with the right type of coach could improve his defense.

Searching for links too...but it is legit. I too just heard it.

He was really adamant about getting 5 years, and getting a max contract. While losing him is a big lose, I think down the road it's best not to pay him that much money.

that's simple. Amare wants max, a couple of teams can offer max, why should there be further talks if the suns still wont offer max? Amare and the Suns talk wont resume until all teams with substantial cap room get what they want with their priorities and decide not to offer Amare any, and that's what the Suns are waiting/hoping for.

From what Bucher is saying it sounds like the Suns didn't want to give him the 6-year max so he doesn't want to come back. My guess would be the Knicks as well.

David alridge mentioned on NBA TV last night the possibility of a S&T with the Knicks for David Lee...that depends on if Lee wants to play in Phoenix.

I don't see Walsh giving him a Max contract, I see resigning Lee before this.
Either way it looks like Phoenix is going to have to rebuild very soon.

Amare said he only wants to win. That wouldn't be the Knicks unless Lebron or Wade are on their way there with him.

Yeah, something tells me if a team offers him a max hes going to sign there. Hope it isn't the Knicks.

Amare Stoudemire now appears to be a long shot to return to Phoenix after opting out of the last year of his contract and negotiations on a new deal with Suns owner Robert Sarver broke off late Tuesday night, a source said.

Stoudemire is now in the mix of free-agent power forwards being pursued by the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, New Jersey Nets and New York Knicks.

The Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Toronto Raptors also are looking at potential sign-and-trade scenarios that could land Stoudemire.

Heat president Pat Riley met with Stoudemire last night and pitched Stoudemire on joining LeBron James and Dwyane Wade with the Heat, a source said.

All three would have to sign similar five-year deals starting at roughly $15 million, less than they could make on sign-and-trade deals.

Riley presented his power-of-three presentation to Stoudemire, in which he outlined how every championship team is built on a three-man nucleus.

Riley, the source said, is trying to convince them that the absence of a state tax in Florida would make up the difference.

Ric Bucher covers the NBA for ESPN The Magazine.

Sorry but this is the best thing for the suns... Nash can make anyone good and Amare is not worth a max contract... Not even close to be honest.

Miami Heat. Chris Bosh is going to be the one that screws himself this offseason. Watch. He is going to end up going to the Knicks by himself.

Will the Suns rebuild and will Nash want to play there without Amare?

Nash resigned with the understanding that this team, with him, likely won't win a ring. The team is already halfway rebuilding with Dudley, Dragic, and Lopez coming into their own.
With Richardson's contract coming off the books next year, it could be a quick turnaround.

Everyone in the Suns forum seems to want that Houston deal.
I think Phoenix would actually be better if Scola and Battier came aboard.

I think Frye will become our starting PF, with Clark getting some minutes backing him up.
