The eve of free agency offered more convoluted speculation. One potential deal involved Toronto agreeing to send Bosh to Miami, with forward Michael Beasley, guard Mario Chalmers and center Joel Anthony, a native Canadian, going to the Raptors on July 8.

But multiple league sources disputed the deal, including a high-level Raptors source who said the team had no real interest in Beasley or Chalmers. Toronto would, however, consider a $16 million trade exemption and the return of its first-round pick from Miami in the 2009 Jermaine O'Neal trade for a potential Bosh move.

Bosh, who ranks the Heat among his top choices, would lose about $30 million in a guaranteed sixth-year salary if he bolted Toronto without a sign-and-trade deal. Riley traveled to the West Coast on Wednesday looking to take advantage of a three-hour time zone difference that allowed him to meet with players as early as 9:01 p.m. local time. Heat owner Micky Arison has postponed his annual summer travels through Europe as chairman of Carnival Cruise Lines to make himself available early in free agency.

16 Million is a lot to ask for...

I don't get why Toronto would create an East superpower just for Beasley. They can get a better deal than that.

I really hope that they all just resign with their own teams. For the sake of basketball... This would really hurt the NBA if this Wade-Lebron-Bosh trio comes true.

That's good news for New York and New Jersey
Trade Exceptions are a valuable asset. Wonder if Miami will do it.

There's no upside to them agreeing to a sign and trade if they don't like the player(s) they're getting back. If Bosh wants to go to Cleveland, LA, Houston, or Dallas they could definitely work something out. Say no to Miami and don't trade him to Chicago unless they're willing to give up Noah. The Raptors don't HAVE to agree to any sort of sign and trade if they don't want to.

There is plenty of real value other teams can offer for a sign and trade deal with the Raptors. The Heat can't come close to a proposal that the Rockets/ Lakers/ Clippers/ Warriors can come up with. Although I doubt Bosh would want to play for the Clippers or Warriors. BUT the Rockets will eventually get into the mix, possibly the Lakers but I doubt it.
