Feeling that the rewards and his love of the game outweigh the risks, Cuttino Mobley has decided to resume his basketball career, 19 months after he retired due to a potentially fatal heart condition.

"I can't stop living my life," Mobley told The Daily News over the telephone Tuesday. "I want to play. I'm ready."

Mobley's career abruptly ended in November of 2008 after he was acquired by the Knicks in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers. Mobley, 34, was aware of his condition when he entered the league in 1998 as a second-round pick of the Houston Rockets, but the Knicks did not feel comfortable giving him clearance to play.

I'd give him the VE. You cant go wrong with a guy with a deadly mid range game who can knock down the 3. Hopefully he can talk his bestfriend Steve Francis into trying to salvage his NBA career also.

This is a joke. Mobley is a joke. Never donned a Knicks Jersey.

Now you're going to make a come back? Pathetic.

He physically couldn't play for the Knicks due to his heart condition. If he has worked it out or took the medication needed, then I dont see the problem.

How do you work out a heart? It's not like he 50 years old and obese.

Meds won't help your heart condition if your gonna go play in the NBA again.

Unless he really impresses teams at work-outs, I don't think anyone would take a chance on him.

He couldn't play with NY because his results came back that if he continued to play professional ball he could have a heart attack or even die.

So Donnie just let him stay home, wanted his contract just as bad.

Much luck to him.

Thank you! Some Knick fans are hating on Cutino like its HIS fault he didn't play. Donnie is the one that didn't feel comfortable letting him suit up so if you're going to be mad then be mad at Donnie.

CM played with the heart condition for years and I'm sure he couldve played with it when he was traded to NY. Either he didn't want to play for the Knicks or the Knicks were just looking for insurance to pay his deal.

Best of luck to Cuttino Mobley... maybe him and his butt buddy Steve Francis can make a comeback together

Wow got to love all the compassion for the guy with the heart condition . You do realize that this is a game right and not life or death, Walsh didn't feel comfortable having him play so its Mobley's fault? Got to love your guys thought process

Mobley was a damn good player for the Rockets when Steve Francis was there with him. They got a short stint together in Orlando, then that was the end for both of them. Maybe they should comeback together and see if they both can give it another good run. How about Francis making another return in Houston with Mobley? That would be sweet.

Don't the Knicks have the rights to Mobley still? Is he going to screw up their cap space this off season?

You are an ***. Mobley had a heart condition that prevented him from playing.

Wow at some of you guys disrespecting him even though he had a FATAL HEART CONDITION. CMON! It's one thing to call out a player for not playing well, but it's another thing to trash a guy for at least attempting to try to get back into the sport, after all he's been through

Anyway, back to mobley, wish him luck and hopefully he gets on to a team.
