I always thought Tracy would end being a good signing here...oh well. At least we still have Jeff Baker to fill in next time Ramirez is benched, injured, sucks, whatever.

He can still go to Iowa if no one wants him right?

He can, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone picks him up. He is a pretty good 1b/3b option, especially for league minimum...

I read somewhere that his contract only allows him to be optioned in the first 45 days of the season, so at this point I think the team has to release him if they can't trade him.

Yeah but can accept though cant he? He would have the right to refuse though and try out on another AAA team.

I suppose he could, but its probably in his best interests not to.

Worst case the Cubs pay him his whole salary, best case another team pays most of it.

Didn't you want Chad Tracy to be are stop-gap first basemen next year or something ?

I liked Chad Tracy as well...I hope he winds up with a playoff team; we certainly don't seem to fit that bill.

They have 7 days to waive him, and 10 days to either trade him or release him.

I sort of did if he started playing better. Basically I wanted the best guy we could get that would only need a one year deal. Now though I'm thinking just move Colvin to first for a year.
