CUBS (http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=chc) vs SOX (http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=cws)

Friday, June 25

Cubs: Zambrano did not face the White Sox in the team's first Interleague series at Wrigley Field. The right-hander is coming off his best outing since returning to the rotation June 4. Against the Angels, he gave up one run on eight hits over seven innings and struck out seven. The seven innings were a season high, and he picked up his first win at Wrigley since July 12, 2009. The right-hander will miss hitting at the American League ballpark. He had two singles and drove in a run in his last start.

White Sox: Peavy is set to take on the Cubs again. In his last outing against the Nationals, he was the Peavy who won the 2007 NL Cy Young Award, pitching a shutout. More impressively, he yielded just three hits and two walks for the duration of the game. Before the game, such an output would have been unexpected, considering he had a fluid buildup in his right shoulder. On Tuesday, Peavy said, "There's not tears or any significant injuries in there that you can make worse by pitching. That was the biggest thing with me, knowing we're structurally sound. Certainly I want to get out there and I want to be healthy enough to throw bullpens in between, really throw a baseball to work on things and not have to take the mound like we have the last couple times." Two starts ago, Peavy took on the Cubs, going seven innings and giving up two runs in a 10-5 White Sox win.

Saturday, June 26

Cubs: Silva was supposed to start Thursday against his former team, the Mariners, but the right hamstring tweak that got him pulled from his last start after 69 pitches forced the Cubs to juggle the rotation, so now Silva will pitch against the White Sox. Silva is coming off his second straight loss, but it was his team-leading 10th quality start. He won his first eight decisions with the Cubs and has dropped two in a row, although he has pitched well enough to win both. If he goes deep, he's tough. Silva has a 2.07 ERA when he throws at least six innings.

White Sox: Garcia got another win in his last start, going seven innings and allowing three runs against the Nationals. Washington scored all three runs in a big third inning. In the frame, Cristian Guzman led off the inning with a triple, followed by Adam Dunn's RBI fielder's choice. After the game, Dunn admitted it was hard to pick up the ball out of Garcia's hand. "He had a lot of movement on all of his pitches," Dunn said. "He is really deceptive being a big guy. He hides the ball very well. He was tough to pick up. He was just tough today." Lifetime against the Cubs, Garcia is 4-0 in five starts with an anemic 1.25 ERA.

Sunday, June 27

Cubs: TBA

White Sox: Danks struggled early in his last start against the Braves, but he settled down quite nicely, at one point getting 10 consecutive batters out en route to putting up his third consecutive win. He did not allow another run, and only two singles after those rough first two innings. "My job tonight was to keep it at three," Danks said. "It was fortunate that these guys gave us nine. It made it a little bit easier on us." Lifetime against the Cubs, Danks is 2-0 in three starts, with a sparkling 0.90 ERA over those 20 innings.

Actually if the series is tied whoever wins the last game gets the cup. However, this is a bold statement but I think we HAVE to sweep the Sox to have any hope of doing anything this season.

I think we are better off getting swept. We aren't going to contend this year, so let's just blow it, get some prospects, and give prospects a chance to show what they've got.

WSox are up 2-1 over us.
I guess you are correct....we could win game 1 and 3 and win the cup.

Basically need to win 2/3, and one of those wins HAS to be game 3.

So stupid.

Just win 2 out of 3 and I'm happy.

Minus game-planning really. Who the hell pitches to Konerko right now, he's killing everything. And without even studying much game tape I can tell you that a low fastball to Carlos Quentin is on the same level of stupidity as a low fastball to Alfonso Soriano.

Some of these things are just disturbingly simple in terms of preparation.

Yeah but his stuff isn't any good anymore. His FB sits 88-91 now instead of 94-96 and he really doesn't have an offspeed pitch to consistently go to. Plus his command sucks.

At this point he probably is a 4th or 5th starter. If the Cubs paid 1/2 his salary they probably couldn't get a taker.

Eh, the way he went in the dugout already screaming and was stomping on 1b on the last play and glaring at Lee, I think it started with Lee. That may be true, but I can only imagine Zambrano did something to piss off Lee, and that probably started with him yelling at Lee.

And you know, I understand yanking Carlos there. I think the final decision was made after the blow up, Zambrano threw his glove the second he walked down the steps. I don't think Lou screamed at him "you're out" from the dugout like that. We all know what happens when Z blows up, and the result is not pitch better. I'm sure no one was real happy with Carlos right that second. Send him to the showers, let him cool down, and avoid a second, larger blow up. And it's not like Z was pitching great to begin with.

We've seen Z blow up times before and come back out and pitch great, most that I remember are the games vs the Cards when they would show him up. Difference is I can't remember many times when Z was pulled after the 1st.

I would not sell Z right now, his value is at its absolute lowest. I think at the moment the guys to sell are the obvious ones, let Z get back on track the rest of the year and early next year and try and sell him during a hot streak next year. If we sold him right now it'd probably be barely a step above cutting him, and he hasn't been nearly bad enough for that.

If someone took the contract, I would do it in a heartbeat. Not a doubt in my mind. If we put him on waivers and someone claimed him, I couldnt move him fast enough.

I can't believe they thought it was a good idea for ARamis to start this game after not starting a game in 4 days. And that was after starting two games at Peoria after 2 weeks off.

Don't worry, Aramis will fix Aramis' swing.

Its been ugly and he has been terrible.. Maybe he needs the Troy Glaus laser eye surgery. Anyone else remember when Glaus had a bad year and then had that done and tore the cover off the ball?

To me Z has worn out his welcome. To me his actions are inexcusable.

What actions? Anger? Frustration? He just got pulled after a bad first inning. Bad first innings happen and he gets pulled. He has been shipped, ridiculously btw, to the bullpen....took it for the team. Now they take him out after a hot Quentin hits one out? What actions? He is upset and he shows it.....he shows some f'n life unlike most of this team. They are 32-40 and he is pissed about it.

Yeah I'd probably let someone have him, but if we were to shop him right now it'd be a Sosa situation where we pay most of his contract and get little back. Let him get some of that value back before selling.

My problem is though he's played two games in the last 2 weeks. And none in the last few days. And then they threw him right into the fire against Jake Peavy. How could anyone have thought this would end well.

Both hurt I believe.

I dont think pushing over a water jug is showing some life. Its just being a baby, and we don't even know when he was told he was done. He was screaming and crying way before he got to the dugout.

Go off an ump sure. Not come out and start screaming at Zambrano on the mound.

Calling out an ump after a close, close play has shown to at least be a spark. Coming in the dugout and screaming at another player, is going to do nothing but tear the team apart further.

But yelling at the entire team can bring them together. Get them pissed at themselves. It did not look at any point like he was singling out any player until Lee started yelling back.

It's bad to have such a soft captain.

No.

Why would it? He didn't push anyone, he barely hit the water cooler-he moved it to the floor more than threw it.

If Z's suspended for that, I won't be happy until the entire staff is removed from this team. We have horribly underperforming veteran's refusing to work with coaches, we have a manager struggling to stay alive during games, a team lacking preparation for games, why would Z deserve a punishment?
