View Full Version : Monta Ellis + the 6th pick up for grabs

GSRaider
06-23-2010, 11:02 PM
The Warriors are talking to a number of teams about potential trades and it looks like the No. 6 pick in the draft is up for grabs. The cost, however is high. The Warriors want whoever takes the pick to take on the contract of Monta Ellis as part of the deal. If the Warriors keep the pick, they're deciding between Greg Monroe and Ekpe Udoh. My source continues to say that Udoh has the edge.

Warriors don't need a soft euro "center" who can't board and doesn't know the meaning of defense. Well... the GM's that are on their way out of town might... so hopefully they do not screw this up for us as a last hurrah of stupidity before they book it.

Unless Cousins somehow falls to #6, I am a fan of moving that pick + Monta for a later mid-round pick (take Whiteside) and a VERY solid player. Monta Ellis gets hated on a bit on this forum (much of it by me), but he is an amazing player when he wants to be, and could easily be the missing link as a 2 or 2b option on many contending teams.

He's up there in losses, as well. The guy is a dinosaur who has never won a thing in his life when it counted.

If the new management has a modicum of sense, then yes, he is gone. He doesn't even coach the team during time outs any more and readily admits that he can't coach young players; the guy is like the Queen of England -- all bark, no bite.

That doesnt make sense. 6th pick you have a chance at some real solid players, maybe Causins and it doesnt effect the cap? All you would have to give is Chandler. I think 99.99% of knicks fans would trade Chandler + Curry for the No.6 Pick and Ellis and the Knicks will still have room for 2 Fas. (If they choose to sign here)

hgtiger32
06-24-2010, 01:07 AM
I think Nets and Knicks will be all over this but I think Boston should look at this very hard...having an ellis and rondo backcourt would be sick and Boston could draft a big to help KG...idk what celtics would have to give up???? but i think it be a great fit

i like how everyone is assuming the warriors are packaging the first rounder to get rid of monta...

i think the warriors might look to trade monta and accept expirings in return

the deal involving the 6th pick has to be 6th pick + expiring contracts (vlad and gadzuric) for a solid player to build with curry in return,

a team rebuilding won't trade draft picks especially the 6th pick to rid themselves of a bad contract. the 6th pick should be crucial and a player to build around for the future. ellis isn't exactly overpaid and the warriors dont really need to "get rid of him" unless they get a great offer in return

Infact, I prefer Ellis more than these players. No need to be mad, Ellis is the type of player people pay to watch. He's the type of player who has amazing speed, attacking the basket and finishing in an exotic way. Not many players have that attribute.

In the end, I expect a better deal for Monta and possibly the 6th pick.

5 time NBA champ. 3 time COTY. Yea but you know, those awards are garbage.

haha yeah - as a player on Bill Russel, John Havlicek and Dave Cowen's 60's/70's Celtics he WAS a 5x champ, so props to him for that...

However what I'm talking about is his coaching career, where a the age of 70 and in over 30 years as a head coach, he has never even lead a team (where he was rarely with a shortage of talent) to an NBA finals. The man openly stated this year that he can't relate to or coach young developing players. 3x COY award? Give me a break, might as well be an all star award - it's a popularity thing.

I could go on, but suffice to say the man wasn't a winner in his youth as a coach, and he certainly isn't a winner now. I can guarantee that the new ownership pays off the last year of his salary and politely bids him adieu.

jj and mo for ellis, 6, and filler

they gotta do something or lebrons good as gone

Why would the Warriors want that garbage. Warriors already have an All Star point guard in the making. Why would they want Williams? The guy is so overrated and crumbles under pressure. JJ is wayyyyy overrated as well, the guy did decent because LBJ was getting doubled or tripled and set him up for all of those easy lay ups and dunks. Ellis isn't going to get traded.

If anybody is on the block right now, its Biedrins. :eyebrow:

Rondo and Monta.. My dreams would come to life

Haha those two would absolutely hate each other. I think you could go half a season before they would get an assist between the two of them. Sure would be fun to watch though.
