Wouldn't it be better knowing who to draft when your team has already been through the free agency stage?

Especially in a year like this.

Thoughts?

Wouldn't it be better to know who you need to sign after drafting players?

NFL has the draft after, BUT, the difference is the NFL draft picks get paid as much if not more than Free agents. So no need to worry about overpaying for a free agent in the NFL.

NBA, if you overpay for a player, then come draft, someone in that position falls to you, you COULD of drafted him for cheaper of what you paid that free agent. So NO!!!!!

Get the cheaper contracts (the Draft) out of the way first, so you know what to blow the money on.

No, especially for teams in the lottery. Those teams are looking for their franchise players, do you really wanna overpay a player in free agency and find out that the best sg fell to you.

No, but I do think all free agents should only have from July 1-July 31 to decide on where they will go.

Teams base their signings on their building blocks.

And teams sometimes start their building with blocks from the draft.

Teams like to try to fill their holes with cheap draft picks so they don't have to overspend on vets, that's why the draft is first. Teams try to fill whatever holes they can through the draft and whatever's left they go to free agency for.

Yeah it should but I guess it makes things a whole lot more interesting. Even though it does make it tougher on GMs to make decisions that will heavily impact their team.

just think about if lebron and dwade and everyone had already signed with a team how much for sense it would make knowing now exactly what you have to go out and complete your team with the draft?

thats a really good point. I didnt take that into account. With the way you put it, it wouldnt make much sense to have FA before since in the draft, anything can happen with players falling and rising

No.
From a player's perspective, you don't want to sign with a team until you know who is on the roster.
Most players would wait until after the draft to sign anywhere anyway.
