WHAT???? They don't need to trade jefferson for another PF!!!!!
they should do a trade for a C or a SF (unless their drafting johnson)

and Randolph played amazing last year! he was an all star lol geeze
i thought he finally found a home in the grizzlies and was good with lil gasol

If the Wolves did this trade than Randolph would be traded again in less than 24 hours no doubt about it.

This would be like trading chris paul for d will haha playing style wise!!
their both the same player!!! and statistically randolph is a lil better

Randolph: 20 and 11.7
Jefferson: 19 and 9.3

Randolph's contract expires after next season.

Why is everyone questioning this deal? Did you not read the article? It stated that Minny wants to shed its long term commitment to Al Jefferson so...

Their pretty similar players. I can't see how it helps one team more than the other. Aside from Z-Bo expiring a year earlier, there really seems to be no difference. Guess T-Wolves just wanna get out from Al's contract.

Randolph is still trouble off the court, I think the Grizz realize he was never going to be long term with them and are trying to get something before the next incident with law enforcement.

I think it just sets up for something bigger and I wouldn't be fooled in this deal. There may very well be more involved.

Bc its a PF that they would bring back in!!

Love should be starting and they should trade Jefferson for a different position!! Why rent randolph just for a year?? and have love come off the bench again

UNLESS their trading Randolph right when they get him or tomorrow on draft day since it is an expiring

IF this deal GOES through zach randolph could seriously be the QRich of this Free agency

get traded abt 7 more times before he actually has a team

i dont get how anyone could say this is a bad deal for Minnesota. Randolph and Jefferson are pretty much the same player(Randolph is maybe a little bit better), and Randolphs contract expires next year, and minnesota is getting DMC or Derrick Favors. how does anyone think this is bad for minni?

get traded abt 7 more times before he actually has a team I'm pretty sure that wouldn't happen to an All-Star. It sounds like Minny would keep him if they traded for him.

Why can't the wolves start Love and Al together? This is a terrible trade for the Wolves.

No. They may very well end up keeping him, but he will definitely be linked to future trades. A $17 million expiring is very intriguing to some teams.

Big Al sucks at Center, and he ****s up the triangle offense. thats why they wanna trade him.

Then they could spin off Randolph for a C or a SG/SF. Huh, guess he could get traded more than once, especially with all the off-the-court stuff thats going on with him as well.

Jefferson for Randolph talks appear dead. Memphis is unwilling to part with their picks as part of a deal. Minn thinks they can do better

Of course Minnesota was really asking for more than just Z-Bo. And I am glad the Grizz don't want to give more. Deal dead!!

However, the most consistent thing I'm hearing is that the team appears to be determined to move Al Jefferson. According to sources they've offered him to Detroit for Tayshaun Prince this week and have also contacted the Pacers about their interest in Jefferson for Troy Murphy's expiring contract.

I just don't believe it, I'm a Pistons fan and I know that the Wolves can get more than that....

Again just like all articles they include just player names and never say the picks included. Just like Randolph we wanted picks with him and they didnt want to. Just like for Murphy we would want #10 where we would give up #16 or #23. And just like for Prince we would want #7 where we would also give up #16 or #23. NBA fans on this site never use common sense.

Best out of those 3 trades would be Prince and #7 for Jefferson and #16 or #23 and that still isn't a good trade for the Wolves.

I would still be up for this trade...if we somehow walk away with Sessions also, I wouldn't mind moving back 9 spots.

Would the T-Wolves give up Sessions as well since they already have Flynn, and potentially Rubio?

Nope. Flynn and Sessions will have Wolves uniforms on until 2012 when Rubio is here. At that point you might not see Flynn or Sessions.

Well it makes sense if you want to cash in big time for FA class next year just in time when Rubio comes but this organization needs to improve NOW. And at least show signs of improvement even if its slight. $17 million off books next year and #12 (Paul George) still isn't enough for Al Jefferson and #16 or #23 imo.

I'm glad the Grizz turned this down. Z Bo was a big factor in the Grizz turnaround this year and has a definite presence on this team.

How is it Nice? Al is one of the most overrated players in the NBA. What has he done to contribute to his teams success, besides accumulate stats? Not to mention he has had restructured Knee surgery in the past, with a less then admirable cap eating 40M+ over the next 3 years, I would rather the Grizzlies keep Z-Bo let his 17M come of the books next season, extend him or trade him as an expiring. The team went 22-60 24-58 15-67 respectively ever since Al joined the team. Granted they didnt do well before they recieved al in the Garnett trade, but he didnt help either.

One of those perfect examples where player A, Jefferson is clearly the better player. But player B just had one of his best seasons ever, while player A was injured/working within a new offense. Whoever lands Jefferson is the winner.

Timberwolves' David Kahn refutes trade reports involving Al Jefferson
By Ray Richardson

Updated: 06/23/2010 05:14:04 PM CDT

A day before the NBA draft, more trade reports are surfacing about Minnesota Timberwolves forward Al Jefferson, but Timberwolves president of basketball operations David Kahn denied that a trade involving the team's leading scorer is imminent.

Kahn refuted a report today that the Wolves have offered Jefferson in three separate deals to Indiana for forward Troy Murphy, to Memphis for forward Zach Randolph and to Detroit for swingman Tayshaun Prince.

Jefferson, who led the Wolves in scoring last season with 17.1 points per game, has been the subject of trade rumors leading up to Thursday night's draft.

"Memphis asked us about Zach and we said no," Kahn said this afternoon in a text message to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "And I have not spoken with Detroit."

Kahn had a more emphatic response about the alleged Murphy deal.

"Murphy is yet another in a long line of desperation Hail Mary's put out by Indiana on all our players," Kahn said.

On Tuesday, Kahn moved quickly to dispel rumors that he was considering trading Wolves point guard Jonny Flynn to Indiana in exchange for the Pacers' first-round pick, No. 10 overall, in Thursday night's draft. Kahn said the Pacers made the offer last week but he turned it down.
