The Los Angeles Lakers and guard Raja Bell will enter free agency with a strong mutual interest to reach agreement on a deal, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Kobe Bryant has become a strong advocate for Bell, a former nemesis. After missing most of the season with surgery to repair ligaments in his non-shooting wrist, Bell is still expected to be a coveted bench player among contending teams. He could give the Lakers another strong perimeter defender and a solid outside shooting threat.

you can count, congratulations.

i think, personally, that they need a ballhandler and shooter off the bench. ive seen the name mike miller kicked around here and i like the sound of that.

shannon brown should step into the role of lockdown guy he has the tools. it wouldnt be a bad signing, though.

Raja Bell and Kobe on the same team. Is that a good idea?

If Artest worked, I think Bell will fit it great off LA's bench.

...This move I don't have a problem with since Bell is in the twilight of his career. I'm not sure how much more he can offer since he's always hurt. Limiting his minutes will surely help though.

I wonder if a team like the Suns could convince Raja to come back. Did he leave on good terms?

Artest worked but Artest didn't call Kobe a "pompous arrogant person" and say he has no respect for him. Kobe doesn't forget either, I'm sure he remembers him saying that and remembers that clothesline.

They need a pg but Bell would be great for depth.

Never hurts to have high-energy, defensive-minded guys coming off the bench, especially during the playoffs.

Supposedly Kobe and Bell had dinner and talked about that and basically said they have a mutual respect for each other.

Kobe always wants another pesky defender on his team. Plus Bell can get on fire also.

Wow, this would be quite the pick-up if Bell is 100% which it seems like he is. A good bench piece to add, though he would take significant minutes away from Artest and Sasha.

But if this were to happen I would burn my shirt and jersey of raja bell.

This would be a great pickup for the Lakers. It's no secret L.A needs bench depth especially with Farmar and Brown hinting to leave.

Lakers would be scary! It would make there bench 100x better! Odom and Raja off the bench? There only weakness is becoming a strong point! They will also get another piece for cheap like a Kurt Thomas or Ridnour - Yeah 3 peat is a HUGE possibility if these rumors are true

A lot of people have mentioned Raja Bell helping our bench, but I really like the idea of having him start in the back court with Kobe. We run the triangle offense so all we'd need Raja to do is get the ball over the half-court line (which Kobe and Ron can help with), and then it's all about ball movement and off the ball player movement.

It's not an offense which requires the PG to create shooting opportunities for his team mates, we'd basically just be asking Raja to play defense and spot up. I would love to see him starting at PG for the Lakers next season :jumpy:
