Yankees get 'cautious' with A-Rod (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comments/yankees-get-cautious-with-arod-379042.html)

"Alex Rodriguez did not finish yesterday's game against the Mets, exiting for defense before the ninth inning because of what Joe Girardi said was a "precaution" after the short rain delay in the middle of the eighth inning. Rodriguez, who has been bothered by his right hip flexor, insisted he "felt really good" and could have played the ninth. He went 0-for-4 in the Yankees' 4-0 win, though he did make a diving play on a grounder by Jose Reyes in the sixth to rob the Mets shortstop of a hit. "I think we had a little bit of a delay and Joe just felt it was a good idea. I felt really good," Rodriguez said. "I was encouraged. Made that play, got up, no problem and look forward to a good road ..."

]Jim Tracy plans to ease Street into closer role (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comments/rockies-tracy-defends-corpas-plans-to-ease-street-into-closer-role-379041.html)

"Don't even think it. Even with the ninth-inning pitching problems he has encountered the last two games, Rockies manager Jim Tracy isn't going to rush Huston Street back into the closer's role. Instead, Tracy defended closer Manny Corpas. For the second game in two days, he missed his lines in the closer's role, allowing a combined eight earned runs by the Milwaukee Brewers while getting only two outs over the two appearances. The Rockies overcame Saturday's blow-up, with Rafael Betancourt coming on to shut down the Brewers in time for an 8-7 victory. But the five runs allowed Sunday by Corpas came with the game tied 1-1, and the Brewers won 6-1. "Simply put, pitches he needs to make and ..."

Mets may shut down Maine (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comments/mets-may-shut-down-maine-379040.html)

"New York Mets right-hander John Maine will be evaluated in New York early this week and is unlikely to continue with his rehab assignment in the minor leagues, general manager Omar Minaya said on Sunday. "Most likely not," Minaya said about letting Maine make another minor league start. "First, let's evaluate him, and go from there." Maine allowed one run, unearned, on one hit and three walks while striking out four in 4 1/3 innings for Triple-A Buffalo on Friday against Indianapolis. Minaya said Maine, who was placed on the disabled list on May 21 with right shoulder tendinitis, would be given time to rest and/or heal, if that's possible."

No discomfort, 'just general soreness' in Peavy's shoulder (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comments/no-discomfort-just-general-soreness-in-peavys-shoulder-379039.html)

"Jake Peavy took off his suit jacket Sunday morning without any sign of discomfort. That was a step in the right direction for the White Sox and Peavy, one day after he threw a 107-pitch shutout after coping with an aching right shoulder. "Just general soreness," Peavy said. "Getting up and down nine times, there's soreness there, but hopefully we'll work through it and be ready on Friday." Because of Monday's day off, Peavy will get an extra day of rest before he makes his next start against the Cubs, whom he beat on June 11 at Wrigley Field. Peavy is 2-1 with a 1.57 ERA in his past three starts all on more than four days' rest. His shutout was his first since Aug. 23, 2005, against ..."

With eyes on future, Astros go to the farm (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comments/with-eyes-on-future-astros-go-to-the-farm-379038.html)

"Seventy games into a season going nowhere, the Astros on Sunday turned their attention to 2011 and beyond, igniting the major league career of top position prospect Jason Castro and making five other moves with an eye to the future. The catcher Castro, third baseman Chris Johnson and outfielder Jason Bourgeois will leave Class AAA Round Rock to join the major league club for Tuesday's game, while catcher Kevin Cash, reliever Casey Daigle and outfielder Cory Sullivan were all designated for assignment. Castro has been considered the catcher of the future since the day he was drafted out of Stanford with the No. 10 overall pick in 2008. While the future begins Tuesday, general manager Ed ..."

Quintero receives seven stitches to head after getting hit by bat (http://www.prosportsdaily.com/comments/quintero-receives-seven-stitches-to-head-after-getting-hit-by-bat-379043.html)

"Catcher Humberto Quintero left Sunday's game with a cut on his head that required seven stitches after Rangers shortstop Andres Blanco hit him with his bat on a follow-through. Blanco took a wild swing at Felipe Paulino's first pitch of the fourth inning and delivered a severe blow to the right side of Quintero's helmet, which dug into his head, creating the laceration. Quintero remained on the field for several minutes as trainer Nate Lucero tended to his head. He received X-rays and was hospitalized briefly for a CT scan, but no concussion was revealed, and he was back at the ballpark after the game. "I'm going to be ready for Tuesday," Quintero said. He was replaced by Kevin Cash, who ..."

Will Tampa be able to get back on top???

Not likely. This team still has alot of talent, but they are really going to have some work for their GM in the next year or two. Need another big bat and need to trade Pena and Crawford if they can get any value for them.

I don't think they need to trade either of them. Both will be Type-A free agents and neither will accept arbitration with big contracts looming. They'll be getting a lot of draft picks for those players.
