Future odds (http://www.vegasinsider.com/nba/odds/futures/)

Whether you like it or not Oddsmakers are pretty good at what they do. These odds were released a few days ago.

I do not endorse gambling at all, I use this tool as a way to see what the oddsmakers have done to predict the future.

few things that stuck out at me were

~Detroit being that low....wow. Ben Gordon is doing a great job turning that team around.

~Toronto being that low....they must assume/know that Chris Bosh is gone.

~Chicago being that high....they are higher than Spurs, PHX, Dallas, Utah and Miami. I was thinking about this before they were released and just thought to myself that they would be closer to 30/1. I'm not an oddsmaker so that was just a good estimated guess.

~ New York is interesting @ 25/1. They are in a good spot to land 2 quality players to dramatically change that team but according to oddmakers that might not be enough...

~ Miami also is @ 25/1. They too have a great chance of keeping Wade and adding another star. It must not be enough to bring the heat a little higher.

~ Cleveland @ 6/1. This to me means that oddsmakers believe that Lebron stays in cleveland. Something else that I didn't add to this thread is that Cleveland opened up @ 8/1 and went down to 6/1. What does that mean? 2 things....1~ that sportsbooks are taking enough bets on cleveland winning the 2011 championship that the odds drop or 2~ There is information that they know that the general public does not......

either way i thought this was a great way to open up some discussions....

thoughts????

The Cleveland odds are really interesting to me. Even if LeBron stays, those odds are a little high.

I agree. Its crazy that they even went lower. Degenerate gamblers in Miami should jump all over the heat if they think Lebron James will land there. $2,500 for a $100.00 bet is some nice cheddah....

BG was averaging about 24 PPG before he injured his ankle and groin. Was he suppose to play injured and score 75 points a night to make up for all the other injured players?

I am shocked that these odds came out right now. They should have waited two more weeks to do it, because the odds are all going to change dramatically once F/A's began choosing their landing spots.

Future odds are for next year, not what happened in the past. Oddsmakers are assuming he will be healthy all year and even with a healthy BG, Detroit is still that low....

Considering I have seen Ben Gordon in a bulls uniform longer than you have in a pistons uniform I will say that Ben Gordon is a shoot 1st, pass 2nd type of player who by the way can not defend. He is a very greedy player(ball hog?) that even if he is shooting bad, he still will chuck up close to close to 40 shots a night to attempt to get out of a slump, not considering what he is doing hurts the rest of the team. When he is hot, he is HOT but when he is not, he assumes he can shoot his way out and that doesn't work. His play is detrimental to any team he plays on and he can ****** any development to any young good player you put around him.

Im sorry, but I am not a fan of Ben Gordon. He won us as many games as he lost when he was here in Chicago. Good luck with that grand prize.

Wow Sacramento that low.. I can't wait till Kings prove them wrong ... not saying we are going to win it all that a far fetch but at least greatly improving our numbers and odds would be nice.

5-1 to one for boston is kind a high considering they is most likely going to be change there plus the teams as a whole is getting older

With 5 players currently on the roster and no named free agents joining the team the Knicks are at 25 to 1..... that's a beautiful thing right there.

Its really tough to say with big free agents moving from team to team.

Its really tough to say with big free agents moving from team to team. Exactly, they'll prolly make another oddsmaker later after all he free agents have signed which is what they should do. But as of right now Jazz 25/1? .04% :(
