Now that the 09-10 season is over with and the decade, which team do you guys think was the team of the decade? Couple years ago people thought it was either the spurs or the lakers. Some thought it was the mavericks because they won 50 games every season. Some say the suns for their run and gun. what is your vote?

So, is the decade 00-09, or is it 01-10? It doesnt an affect on the amount of championships won though.

We already did this list, the decade ended in 2009.

Exactly. Can't remember which publication did it, but they picked the Spurs as the team of the decade ... 2000-2009. Decade has 10 years.

The decade was 00-09, 10 years. 00-10 would be 11 years.

For me it's the Spurs, purely based on their consistency. They pretty much dominated the whole decade.

Three titles and five conference finals spread out throughout the whole decade is slightly more impressive than the Lakers three titles to start the decade and then the post Shaq period which saw the Lakers slumped in mediocrity.

Finishing the decade out stronger may sway people to say the Lakers but for sheer consistency I give it to the Spurs.

Spurs Named Sporting News Team of the Decade

Sporting News named the San Antonio Spurs the NBA team of the decade and Gregg Popovich NBA coach of the decade. Tim Duncan was named to the All-decade first team along with Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal. Bryant also edged out Duncan for NBA athlete of the decade.

The honors are part of a 14-page tribute to the players, coaches and teams of the 2000s in the new issue of the magazine, which will hit newsstands today.

We'll have to wait another 9 years to find out who the team of THIS decade is.
