Hey guys, Some of you may remember that for the last two years I have conducted a poll at the end of the season that had PSD users vote for the top 10 players at each position. Its is now that time to vote! I would like to start this up once more considering the NBA season is now over and we can get to this discussion since lots has changed since the start of last season. Please TRY AND VOTE FOR THE BEST PLAYER AND DON'T BE A HOMER. I will leave the poll open for one day and than we can carry on to the next best player at that position. I will add more players after each round. I have also included the results of those last 2 years so everyone can see how much things have changed...Enjoy.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best.

Deron Williams is #1 right now.

Probably. It was between him and Nash for me because Nash was back to an exceptional level again this year. So I gave him the homer vote. :D But Deron is the more realistic choice.

Chris Paul (Due To Injury)

Jason Kidd/Aaron Brooks/Devin Harris (either cud make a case at the 10 spot)

Are we talking about season wise? Cuz CP3 is still the best PG but he didnt have the best season. Derons better at doing things youd want your SG to do (like play off the ball and come off screens), but at all things pertaining to the PG spot, CP3 does everything better.

Shouldn't have put Rondo or Rose on the list yet, a bunch of homers might ruin the poll. But its D-Will for me, another great season, great passing, great shooter, sick crossover, best PG today

JLynn943
06-18-2010, 03:22 PM
I think it's still Nash. He makes his entire team so much better without being relied on to be the leading scorer despite being statistically the greatest shooter of all time. Deron is certainly an amazing player as well, but imo, how Nash runs the offense makes him tops.

My top 5:
Nash
Deron
Rondo
Paul
Rose

Dont know. There are 3 very different ones at the top. DW, Nash or Rondo. The three of them play the same spot in a very different way, but still the three are doing a very fine job for their teams.

Id go for DW, the most complete of the three.

I had to vote for my boy D. Rose but here's my top 10 list of the best PGs in the league.

1. Chris Paul (career wise, but not this yr: 2010)

2. Derron Williams

3. Steve Nash

4. Tony Parker (career)

5. Derrick Rose (he will climb to the top of the charts quickly).

6. Chauny Billups (Billups or Rose could have could have been #5 but for Billups I feel that he leveled out, he reached his potential already were Rose is improving yr after yr).

7. Rajon Rondo (he has the best Defense out of any of the names on this list).

8. Russell Westbrook (like D. Rose, he too will climb to the top of list quickly).

9. Jason Kidd (he's put up great #s for his career and gets trpl dlbs like nothing).

10. Aaron Brooks (I'm surprised he didn't make ppl's list on here. Definitely underrated, he put up about 20 & 5 with 2-3rpg. This was his first break out yr, so he has to stay like this in order to get the recognition he deserves) .

Honorable mentions.......

Awesome to see all the respect D. Will is getting this season.

xxxplicit69
06-18-2010, 06:00 PM
................ Mo Williams ( his shooting is ridiculous, 45% fg, 43% 3pt, near 90% from the line. Steve Nash like #s as far as shooting. He's put up nice #s for a few yrs now but just isn't that great in the playoffs.

I see that Jameer Nelson made a lot of ppl's list on here, that probably is largely due to his playoff run; which was a good one. Because of that run and his all-star selection last yr, he deserves an honorable mention too. Similar game to MO Will, except Nelson does it well in the playoffs. My knock on him is that his #s during the season didn't jump out at me. 12.6ppg and 5-6apg is ok. Its great production for the MPG he plays but still wouldn't put him over a PG that plays near 40mpg and puts up #s like Brooks and has a heavier workload.

Devin Harris was close to being in the top 10 on my list. If you asked this question a yr ago, he makes the list. He didn't do as well this yr. Still had pretty good #s plus if you consider previous yrs you have to give him and honorable mention. Could easily make the top 10 next year.

Stephan Curry is kind of a tweener but is more of PG on GS than anyone else. If he stays at the PG for them, he makes the Top 10 easily for yrs to come. Love his game, speed, Jumper, handles, awareness, everything.

Baron Davis has played on the level of a top 5 PG for yrs, I felt like he was the best for a couple yrs. rough yr and rough team for him this yr but as a Warrior and Hornet no question, no doubting his skills. Had he not left the Warriors, he makes this list.

The last guy I will mention is Mike Bibby. Definitely isn't a top 10 PG now, but is still good and I feel like a lot of ppl forgot about him. Clutch and was good for the grizzlies, and great for the KINGs.

Eh, I think he's top 5...
I got Paul, Deron and Nash definitely ahead. Then I got Rondo and Rose tied depending on the team. If you are a team like Celtics or Lakers who have enough offense, then Rondo is more than enough as your game manager and is better at that than Rose.
On the other hand, if you need a 1st or 2nd option scorer, then Rose is better...

How soon we forget. I've had Deron Williams as best PG in the league before CP3 was injured, but thats just because I think they are both great at what they do, but Deron is bigger and does not get bullied by PGs like Miller, Davis and Billups who love to post up.

But if you've always had CP3 as best PG, don't change now that he is injured. It's not like he got worse. BSPN just brainwashed you to think Deron is better

4. Rondo

..and everyone else.

Hmm.. Not a fan of the celtics and No.1 Hater of Arrogant Paul Pierce but I pick Rajon Rondo.. In his performance during the playoffs.. He lifts the team against Cleveland and Orlando..

CP3 is the best pure point guard in the league. Steve Nash and D-Will follow him closely. I honestly don't know how Rose got 20 votes. Can someone who voted for Rose please show up and elaborate how Rose is the best point guard in the league?

How can anyone put Rondo in the top 5... He had alot of turnovers because he can't shoot and try to mk bad passes

Paul
Williams
Nash
Rose
Parker

If you play off of Rondo and he can't drive then he is good for nothing...

CP3 all day, every day. D-Will has closed the gap between him and Paul but he still isn't as good of a PG.

Cause he was hurt for half the season. Deron Williams was the best PG this season. When healthy, Chris Paul is the best in the league but considering he played in only 40 games and he's had a drop in every major statistical category, its pretty easy to call D-Will the best PG in the league this season.

Wow... No love for Parker? Dude has multiple rings and finals MVP and he still gets no love? Incredible. Maybe if he was a little more exciting to watch he'd get your respect. Some of you don't even have him on your top 10... Lol. Shows how much you know or as Hawkeye said --- short-term memory.

Well this thread's lame then. In that case CP3 isn't even a top 25 PG in the NBA anymore. I'm not sure why he's even in the poll if it's just about this past season.

All I know is I'd rather have CP3 over any other PG if I was starting a basketball team, which is how I ranked mine originally. but since we're not doing it like that then I guess I'll take Dwill.

No but he has much more of a case than any guy in the poll. Not to mention, how does he not make anyones top 10 list?

He's a top 10 but he's not #1, so I don't think he should be on the poll but I could say the same thing for Derrick Rose. Paul, Deron, Nash and Rondo should be the only ones competing for the top spot. ( I say Rondo because of his stellar performance in playoffs)

What do the number of posts have to do with anything? He's giving Rose a bad rep, like countless other have done before him. 1 post or 10,000 it's the same thing. People still have to read it.

I usually don't take posters with less than 100 posts serious.

Can't believe how low you got Nash. We're talking about a guy who led his team to the WCF. Arguably the best set man in the league.

Honestly, If I had to start a team with any PG, it would prolly be Steve Nash. Even tho I voted Deron WIlliams as the best PG because of his ability score and take over as well to pass.

Coin flip for me. I think CP3 is the more complete pure PG but Deron had a better season. Edge goes to CP3

You can skip #2 and move on to #3 as no other PG is on the same level as these 2.

He's still the best, by a wide margin, when healthy. It's crazy how quick people are to change their opinions.

Deron Williams is the best pg in the NBA hands down, followed by CP3.

-Williams is the most complete offensive pg in this league, he's one of the best passers, he can shoot from the perimeter, has a pull up game, can handle the ball and get penetration whenever he wants, very good post game for a pg too.

He's just so big though too, that's what makes him so unique, you can't bully him like other pg's. Even if you put a shooting guard on him it doesn't matter cause he's just as strong and faster than most 2's in the league.

CP3 is unrealy, people are underestimating him and what he's done with not so good teams in the Western Conference. Plus his injuries derailed him a bit but the guy can play. Heck its hard to even put him at 2 just cause we know how good he is when healthy.

Rondo is third, he's the best all-around pg in the nba. The only thing he lacks is shooting. Could you imagine if he could knock down jumpers? It would be unfair.
