No. Gasol was the best Laker. And Artest was the sentimental choice. Scoring stats aren't as important as overall contribution. If you doubt that, ask the guy who hands out the trophy and has it named after him.

Gasol had a strong case as well.

Two things:

1. the first thing Kobe did with the Finals trophy was hand it to Pau.

2. the first person Kobe credited was Gasol.

Credit to Kobe for the honesty. Seriously.

I thought Pau was a bigger factor in the games they won.

But in the games they lost, I thought Kobe was their best player.

I knew the lovefest would start soon.

Like I said in the GT, Kobe was the popular choice, but Gasol was the right one.

Pau was most consistant, and Artest was the biggest factor in the biggest games.

Kobe's best game was in a loss.

Why did you spell should wrong every time?

I've already said Pau. He showed up. Rebounding was key all series. Funny how Kobe tried to become a rebounder this game.

Kobe desereved it... Everyone's performance revolves around Kobe.. He literally had 3 people on him the whole series and it created easier oppurtunities for every1 else.. That said I still dislike him but I have a newfound respect for his game

kobe is the reason why gasol and the other players get their job done.

kobe did stuff every game of the finals.. gasol did all the obvious stuff. when kobe couldn't shoot, he rebounded like crazy... or threw out assists - he's the reason why people get wide open.

gasol is good and deserves an mvp trophy too, but it's like shaq getting it for three years instead of kobe. shaq got it, and this time, kobe got it, while pau was kobe's kobe.

bynum gets the applause award because he kept pushing through a bad knee, and i believe that sparked up the team too.

phil did his coaching when it mattered most.

fisher was clutch... when it counted.

everyone did their stuff, but imo, kobe is the reason why they were able to.

Yes. I wanted to make the co-MVP argument, but it would've been totally driven by the fact that Pau is one of my favourite players and I'm a Philly fan (and thus naturally somewhat of a Kobe hater).

But Kobe deserved it. Even when he struggled and Pau was almost dominant it was partly because the defense was focusing on Kobe so much.

Don't get me wrong, Gasol had a hell of a series, and co-MVPs wouldn't have shocked me, but co-MVPs are super rare (edit: actually there have never been co-MVPs) and Kobe is probably the pick that makes the most sense. If you give one to Gasol, you have to give one to a pretty long list of players who had really good finals series but didn't get an MVP - Garnett in 2008, Duncan in 2007, etc.

this is easy choice without kobe none of this would be happening right now..

Had too be kobe. Its called Finals MVP. Not game 7 MVP.

Pau should've been MVP. He had a couple bad games in Boston, but he showed up in all the rest.

What the hell is that supposed to mean? Is Kobe not supposed to rebound the ball to help his team win?

06-18-2010, 01:22 AM
kobe had the better series, scoring, rebounding, defending... we got our 1st lead when kobe was fouled rebounding... made a 17ft after that and never gave the lead back!! that was the turning point of the 4th qt.. pau couldn't even make a free throw when they were catching up!!! he only made them after they finally got the lead...

No Kobe sucked, 6-24, thats a joke.

I know you wanted non Lakers fans, but its not called Game 7 MVP. Its called Finals MVP and for 6 games, Kobe was that dude. Gasol vanished for two games, so Kobe rightfully so got the award.

I love during our Shaq years everyone use to say it was Shaq as Batman and Kobe as Robin. No one ever gave Kobe ****ing credit. So **** all of you who said that. Kobe was the clear Batman and Pau was Robin. I hate to say it like that but thats what you guys deserve. You never gave Kobe credit for winning with Shaq, then karma's taking effect.

I love how Kobe said it, "I don't believe in the word sidekicks". Pau played decent tonight, but his defense has been horrid the entire Finals.

Well Gasol led the team in Win Shares and PER in the season and for sure lead in Win Shares in the playoffs.

Since the thread is filled with Lakers fans there's no point in asking for non-Lakers fans.
