Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck says he will be deploying hundreds of extra officers at the final NBA championship game between the Lakers and Boston Celtics.

Beck said Wednesday that he hopes to dissuade fans from congregating outside Staples Center after Thursday's game.

Beck says he doesn't expect problems and mobile command units and a strong police presence should deter anyone from causing trouble.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca says he has notified hundreds of deputies to be on hand in case the Police Department needs backup.

Last year's championship also triggered rock-and-bottle throwing, vandalism and looting.

In 2000, after the Lakers won their first NBA title in 12 years, fans damaged 70 vehicles outside the Staples Center.

They should stop alcohol sales early...L.A. fans get a bit pumped after their team wins another title.

I hate fans that can't control themselves when they win. Pathetic.

what if they lose on a desperation behind the back full court heave by Sheldon Williams.

there should be multiple death counts after that

Agreed, making it an unsafe environment isn't cool. Fans need to not break stuff/throw stuff on the court, ect.

It's not like it's just LA. Boston has had its share of problems with all of the success the city has shared the last 10 years or so.

I'd probably stop watching the NBA if that happened.

I dont understand why we have to be dumbasses sometimes. At least have some self control. Nothing wrong with partying but still have some self control

I can't even imagine how things would be if Boston ended up winning.

Someone might up throwing some grenades.

Boston does the same thing. So does NY. All big cities get crazy. Look at Philly. It is inevitable. Every team has a-hole fans and they are going to be ruin things.

No ****, why would you post this? Boston did the same thing after game 6, too bad they got smoked. Hopefully they can pull off game 7 though

They probably will be doing that during the game if Boston is winning by a blow out.. nonetheless, its easy to predict otherwise.

You have stupid people everywhere....for last year's parade, I got DRUNK off my ***...I went to Yardhouse next to staples, and drank for 8 hours straight before hitting up lucky stripes, and a strip joint.....

Moral of the story is.....you can have a GREAT time without trashing your city or other people's property, but just because it happens here, doesn't mean it doesn't happen in other places.
