The most recent in a series of useless stats thrown around since the finals started. Is anyone else getting sick of hearing what the percentage chance is of a team winning a series after winning one particular game, or a coach's record in a series when they win a particular game?

The most recent game on that list was like 26 years ago.

EDIT: I picked LA in 7 before the series started, and I'm not changing my pick now.

Well those 50's-60's Celtics were also ridiculous and rarely lost. Last time it happened was 1984, so I'm not sure how much it applies to now considering 0 of the players or staff probably remains.

I pick the Celtics to win only because Lakers often get lazy after huge wins, which is why a lot of lower seeds are able to avoid sweeps against them. Is Perkins playing? If not, I may change my words... but for now I pick the Celtics.

In game 7's the road teams record is 3-13.

1969, 1974 and 1979 I believe.

No team since 1979 (30+ years has won Game 7 of the Finals on the road)

However it has only happened a few times.

1984, 1988, 1994, 2005, 2010

So 0-4 on the road since 1980.

I heard that when kobe eats a bic mac before the game lakers are 5-0 and when DJ Mbenga wears his lucky *** Congo neckless we are undefeated since we signed him.

Seriously these streaks mean nothing, those are all history, we have new teams and new players

When the Lakers score more points than the Celtics, the Lakers are 3-0 in these NBA Finals :)

Conversely, when the Celtics score more points than the Lakers, they're 3-0 in these NBA Finals.

Celtics are 7-0 in game 7s, 4-0 against the Lakers.
Phil Jackson is 47-0 when winning game 1.
Celtics are 11-0 when going up 3-2.
Lakers are 50-3 when playing on a Thursday after January 17 at home, when it's a sunny day with at least 67degree F temperature, and they have an all defense player on their team.

The best thing about game 7, is those stats don't have any bearing on the way G7 will go.

Makes it so exciting

Alight imma put my self out there and go out on a limb to say that neither of these streaks will be broken tomorrow.

This steak means absolutley nothing... were ANY of the boston players or staff on THOSE team that are 7-0 in finals>> no. Some still are interesting, like Phil Jackson being undefeated after winning game 1, which happened during this series. This series has been great to watch tho, great for the NBA that this ended up happening, although most of us didn't want for it to happen

Exactly. Those Celtics teams that were 7-0 were not the ones with Ray, KG, or PP. So, who cares?

And LA is 49-0 when winning Game one. What's your point? Stats, and history is meaningless. Watch the Finals, and see what happens. Nobody knows yet, that's the beauty of the future. (For the most part. ;))

Phil has lost with HCA.

And has lost being up 2-1 after a 1-1 split.

No Phil Jackson is, not LA

For some reason I just can't see a team with KG and Pierce as the captains losing.

But if LA loses tomorrow then Phil Jackson will be 46-1 when he wins game 1.

So either way someones streak will end

Phil Jackson has also coached in 13 Finals and not one of them has gone to Game 7.

This is the first time Jackson will have to coach in a Finals game 7.

The history of those Finals Game 7 is interesting. Especially seeing how close some of those games were. And there was one that featured a Double Overtime! :O. Wow, NBA Finals-Game Seven-2 OT. INTENSE!!!

Actually, he's 3-1 in Game 7's in the playoffs the past 3 years. The 1 loss coming to Orlando last year without KG.
