First I don't want to turn this into a bash rondo thread, I just want your thoughts on why you think he. Is a top 5 pg in the league, or some ppl say the best all around pg. He clearly cannot put a team on his back like cp3, d williams, or even drose for that matter, please discuss and give actual facts and statistics to back up your statement.

No not just one bad game! Look up his playoff avg, and his season avg, are they elite numbers? If you think so, how and why?

Yeah Rondo is still top 5 just because of his defensive skills and passing skills alone, defensively there's no better PG in the league with quicker hands and feet. Scoring still needs work but looking back Jason Kidd or John Stockton never scored alot. Not saying that Rondo is comparable to those two, but he does carry that true sense of a past first point guard, breaking down the defense and finding the open man.

The biggest problem is that in this series and Rondo is that the Lakers know his weakness and if everyone else around Rondo is not scoring then the Lakers are just playing off of him and packing in the key, which really shows how inconsistent Rondo is still with his jumper, also the fact Rondo still can't hit free throws consistently hurts him too because he's more likely to try to finesse his way for layups rather than get contact and try to make three point plays. The Laker's defense is really making it hard for Rondo to get layups and break down the defense to get passes. Doesn't help that the Big 3 aren't contributing consitently enough to really help.

All in all Rondo is still top 5 pg, probably still behind Deron and Paul because they put it all together, where is Rondo is still a specialist, who either needs to improve on shooting or go with what Kidd and Stockon did and become the ultimate pass first PG, either way he'll have to do one or the other to truly suprass Paul and Deron.
Right now I rate top 5 pg
1)Deron
2) Paul (Becasue of injury)
3) Rondo
4) Nash (can't play defense and more TO prone than Rondo)
5) Rose (Needs to improve defense, still hasn't shown that elite passing level yet)

I never thought he was elite. He's a top PG in this league but only a few players, imo, are elite.

We're not going to do one of these threads after each good/bad game by a player.
