Title says it all. These are all the names I could remember off the top of my head. If I forgot a few people, let me know.

Doug Collins

Also like Hubie Brown, Mike Fratello, and Marv's just got the perfect voice for calling the NBA.

Kevin Harlan. Does he still call NBA games?

Yes. I can't believe I forgot Harlan. He's still one of the most main-stream announcers in the league.

Could a mod please add him for me?

We need to get Sir Charles to be the color commentator, ratings would go through the roof

I'm curious why people like Van Gundy?

He doesn't contribute much when it comes to analysis, apart from the obvious and spends most of the game making awful jokes.

What might be obvious to some might not be to others right? I think he does a good job in reading the overall atmosphere and the flow of the game and then commenting on it. Sometimes he comments about what the coaches should do before they actually do it. He's also not afraid to speak his mind whether its for or against something or somebody. For example, when he said that the NBA should create a Most Valuable Referee award.

What I meant by obvious is, any of the other commentators on this list, maybe even Mark Jackson, could provide the same contributions JVG makes, without the lame jokes and awkward comments.

I think it's no coincidence that in an off-season with some solid job openings, JVG has not been given any serious consideration.

I think it's no coincidence that in an off-season with some solid job openings, JVG has not been given any serious consideration. The reason he hasn't been given any consideration at all is because he came out and said he was gonna broadcast for another year before teams started interviewing coaches.

I like Kevin Harlan and Hubie Brown the most.

lol, I use to think that Kevin Harlan and Marv Albert were one person as well, their voice is eerily similar. Those two are my favorites, but I love listening the ESPN crew as well (JVG, Breen, and Mark).

I will shoot myself if Doris Burke is ever given another chance to do the color commentating on ESPN. I just ****ing hate her voice and her so-called "knowledge" of the game

I love JVG. I just find him hilarious with him and MJ arguing all the time.

Like on Thursdays game, JVG asked MJ if they should allow 7 fouls and MJ said "I said no at lunch, why would my anwser change now"

Uh, ya man, shame on you for leaving out Kevin Harlan.

"Right between the eyes!"

"Oh, he just sucked the gravity out of the Target Center"

"Gooooood!!"

"No Regard for Human Life!"

C'mon bro, Marv Albert is legendary, but we all know that right now, at the present moment, Kevin Harlan has surpassed Marv Albert in terms of calling exciting games and getting you engaged in the game.

And the best minds of the game are Doug Collins and Hubie Brown.

But boy oh boy do I miss Bob Costas on the NBA on NBC.

Used to hate Van Gundy so much. Even started a thread on here before about how he's possibly the worst announcer. I'm a fool.

Van Gundy is by far my favorite. The mixture of honesty and humor is very refreshing.

The combo of Van Gundy and Mark Jackson is awesome in my opinion. One is very serious while the other is quite the opposite, but they mesh together so well because of their mutual respect for the game and for one another.

So hard to pick between Hubie and Collins. I picked Collins for the poll but I really enjoy listening to Hubie as well. I have no idea how JVG is winning by such a wide margin. He's pretty bad. He has a tendency to say some outlandish stuff and then realize it right after he says it and tries to retract it a little bit. So annoying.

Amen. Some people say he just rants too much, and goes off on tangents. I think he is so incredibly knowledgeable, not afraid to tell it how it is, and is just so honest and insightful. I enjoy his humor too. I too think he is my favorite announcer.

From a commentary standpoint, Mike Breen.

It's a really hard choice so i'll mention my favorites instead of picking just one.

Marv Albert - His announcing on a close game is just classic.
Doug Collins - Enjoyable, professional and classy commentating.
Jeff Van Gundy - He spices things up and keeps it entertaining.

So for me it's between those three.

Well Magic fans have some kinda thing against him, so no surprise.

Kevin Harlan is great, but hes not on the list so I will have to go JVG. Mark Jackson isn't that bad, some of his lines heading into commercial are great, but he'd be terrible without JVG.

I really cannot stand Mark Jackson. The guy is ******** and throws out the most ******** statements I've ever heard.

I just remember once, he said Dirk was better than Larry Bird because Dirk has better rebounding ability. Larry Bird lead his team in rebounding on several occasions with HOF Mchale and Parish on the team.

And he once compared Boki Nachbar to Moses Malone.

I cannot stand the guy.

I like Jeff Van Gundy cause of his immense knowledge of the game and he is actually neutral (wat these National commentators are supposed to be). Mark Jackson is going so hard for the Lakers I hate it.
