IMO this is another must win for the Celts.

This is a must win for both teams, but more for the Celtics. Celtics lose, then Lakers will close it out in game 6. If celtics win, then Lakers are in a deep whole.

Bynum will be the key to this game. He needs to give all that he has left to win. We need him out there on the floor, because Odom is a wuss. I feel Lakers will be able to pull this one out.

Yep I agree and that is what makes this a great game coming up. That way both teams have to put it all on the line. IIRC I don't think Phil has been in a 2-2 series yet in the finals with LA. It has always been 3-1 in every finals whether he wins or loses. So this is a different scenario and a better one IMO.

Should be another good one. I think the Lakers will take it though. The 3 days should give Bynum the rest he needs to play more than 13 minutes. And 3 days to stew over a loss is a long time, so I'd look for the Lakers to take game 5. But with this series, who knows.

Not really. Lakers have 2 home games left. Sure its gonna be tough facing 2 elimination games but it will be tough. I don't think Lakers want to put themselves in that position.

In 1988, the Pistons won game 5 in Detroit. The Lakers had to win both games 6 and 7 in LA to win the championship.

And it seems like the 2010 NBA Finals might just play out like the 1994 NBA FInals. The Rockets had to win games 6 and 7 in Houston and losing game 5 in New York.

Rockets win game 1 in Houston

Knicks win game 2 in Houston

Rockets win game 3 in New York

Knicks win game 4 in New York

Knicks win game 5 in New York

Rockets win game 6 in Houston

Rockets win game 7 in Houston

2010 Finals

Lakers win game 1 in Los Angeles

Celtics win game 2 in Los Angeles

Lakers win game 3 in Boston

Celtics win game 4 in Boston

Let's see what happens for the remainder of the series...

Much more of a needed win for the Celtics than Lakers. We can not go down 3-2 going back to LA. That would be scary.

Bynum is the key, Phil pulled him from this game cause Drew couldn't go... once he went out, LA crumbled defensively with Odom out there.

Its a shame, what a difference Andrew Bynum on 1 leg makes... imagine if he was fully healthy, LA would be pretty much unstoppable.

i give him props for playing though, truly gutting it out, but i don't know if he can hold on any longer. And we know Odom can't do what Bynum does on defense.

shep33
06-11-2010, 02:48 AM
It's an absolute must win for Boston, they lose they're done. LA still has some confidence if they lose, cause they get 2 at home, and really in the win game 6, its a 3-3 series with them having HCA, so I don't think its too big of a task for LA win or lose.

2-3-2 is stupid though, it makes absolutely no sense to change the format. The only advantage is for the NBA to get a 7 game series.

Yeah Bynum on one leg has been a absolute difference maker in this series, and people wanted him to get traded? Knowledge of basketball is pretty hard to find actually...

This is such a crock. What about if Rondo was fully healthy? He clearly doesn't have the speed he did in earlier rounds because of a back injury. Imagine if KG didn't have his leg injury last year; imagine if Sheed didn't have a bad back this series. Leave the imagining to John Lennon, please, and stop making excuses.

Bynum is and always will be an injury plagued 7 footer. He is what he is.

Boston. They bullied the Lakers like it was 2008 in the latter stages of game four. Gasol was clearly bothered by Perkins' physicality, and Garnett obviously got into Odom's head. Celtics win big.

I predicted LA in 7, with no team winning consecutive games, hence LA in game 5. Crazy how much a game does. Lakers won game 1, 3 and the Boston sports radios are like the Celtics are walking around like "whoa is me" and then C's win games 2 and 4 and its "this Lakers team is ripe for the taking." On my way home from work this morning all I heard was the C's are gonna win the next 2. I really feel no one is winning back to back games. Bynum or not, or even an infective Bynum, I still see LA in a close one.

Whoever wins game 5 will win the series and the championship.

You guys agree?

Not necessarily. LA still will have two games at home they can win even if they lose game 5. This is more important for Boston than it is for LA- significantly much so.

I hope/think Boston pulls it off...but winning two in a row just seems too hard right now.

It depends on Bynum. BBD can't really play half as effectively when Pau and Bynum are out there...but he can dominate when Odom is instead. The length of LA when Bynum is out there is too much for Baby, but he can do work when either Pau or Drew are out.

If Bynum can play, and play more than 20 minutes, I like LA's chances.

I'm not sure which Boston team we see, I said we need to see more Nate and more Big Baby to win, bout time (in game 4). If Finley replaced Ray Ray in Game 3 when it was close, even earlier when he was like 0-6 we could have won game 3 I think.

If they get the bench involved from early and more often Bos got game 5.

I'll keep saying what i said for game 4, if the Lakers win game 5, they'd go up 3-2 with 2 chances to win 1 game @ home. I'd like our chances a lot as far as to say I think it would be a 95% chance if we win game 5 we take the series mainly because we'd have 2 chances @ home.

If Boston wins game 5, the pressure is on L.A to win both games @ home obviously. I think HCA will be the deciding factor in this one. Luckily for Boston, they'd only have to win 1 game on the road rather than 2 which would be very tough.

NEW YORK -- The Celtics' series-tying win earned the highest preliminary rating for Game 4 of an NBA Finals since 2004.

Boston's 96-89 victory over the Lakers on Thursday night on ABC drew an 11.6 overnight rating. That's up 6 percent from the 10.9 for last year's Orlando-L.A. Game 4.

This series has also been drawing higher ratings than the Celtics-Lakers matchup in 2008. The numbers have been the best since the Detroit-L.A. series six years ago. Game 4 that year earned a 14.5 overnight rating.

Ratings measure the percentage of all homes with televisions tuned into a program. Overnight ratings represent the country's largest markets.

The Lakers are going to need Dru to give them around 20 to 25 productive mins. He doesn't have to score, but we need his inside presence on offense, his offensive rebounding and defensive rebounding and his ability to block/alter shots. He's an extremely important piece in terms of LA winning it all. The Lakers don't have the size up front to matchup with Boston when Dru is out of the lineup. The Celtics can throw multiple defenders at Gasol and Lamar has been ineffective against their frontcourt.

Without Bynum these teams are pretty equal. With Bynum the Lakers have shown they're flat out better. Bynum had knee drained and says he should be back to playing like games 1 and 2. Lakers win by 8 and close it out on Tuesday like I predicted at the start of this series. To me gm 4 showed me that Boston has to play their hearts out to win by just a handful, the Lakers got outrebounded and turned the ball over way to much and still only lost by a handful. It shows the Lakers are the better team.

Didnt Bynum have that monster game in game 2? The one they lost in LA. The Lakers have enough players to win without the youngster. He is a mis match problem for the Celtics a little bit. He is built like a bigger version of Perk with a softer touch. I think he plays anyway

If only Bynum was as helathy as he was in the thunder series, i could really deal with that, because then like Vince Mcmahon would say it would be NO CHANCE IN HELL that Glen would block his dunk attempts, but we dont get that, so we gotta hope for him just to protect our rim and grab everything in sight. Focus on then defensive end.

Actually, Baby did stuff him in Game 2 (before the injury) but the refs made a bad foul call that wiped it out (it was right after they blew Pierce's stuff on Ron in transistion).

And just throwing my 2 cents in... 08 bynum wasnt there fine you lost, 09 kg wasnt there bos lost, 2010 they are both here not 100 percent so no more about that...

Now I was thinking on both bostons wins they won as A TEAM!!! idk why people are saying oh they are too tired blah blah blah blah as the bench has PROVED* boston has a team.... all LA has is kobe and pau everyone else loses to there matchups,

rondo < fisher
ray > kobe
pierce < artest
kg > pau
perk < bynum (just give perc credit he is doing his thing, even DWIGHT said he plays the best D on him and he is the best center in the league hands down....)

nate, davis, tony allan, sheed or odom, brown, sasha, farmar ??? the numbers dont lie BOSTON IS A BETTER TEAM!!

Didnt Bynum have that monster game in game 2? The one they lost in LA. The Lakers have enough players to win without the youngster. He is a mis match problem for the Celtics a little bit. He is built like a bigger version of Perk with a softer touch. I think he plays anyway

Yes but the Lakers aren't solely based on Bynum. They need everyone to step up along with Bynum. If everyone plays their role and he gives them solid contributions, the Lakers are very tough to beat.

Anyways, I agree he seems to be a mismatch up for their bigs which comes at a shock to me. The only one who does a good job on him and Gasol as well is Rasheed Wallace. Kendrick Perkins lets the Lakers bigs get into position while Sheed makes sure he denies it.

Not sure why the poll was closed already (I opened it up again). But I voted for Boston. Mainly wishful thinking. It's a tossup.

It all hinges on Bynum. If he can play, the Lakers length is too much an issue. Even if he isn't really productive offensively, he's just too important.

If he can't play more than 20-25 minutes, I like Boston's chances.

I'd say that's probably true if LA wins tonight. Even if Boston wins tonight, it's going to be tough to get a win in LA to close out the series. If LA wins game 5, i think they'll win the series.

Lakers did their job. They came in and got HCA back! If the Lakers lose today (which I doubt because there better than Boston) this is going 7 games. Do we really think that the Lakers will lose a game 7 on their home floor??? LOL!!! It took a finals record of 3's by that one game hitter Ray Ray to get them a "fortunate" win. Lakers win today its over in 6, Lakers lose today (doubtful) they win the series in 7.

Definitely. He's been settling for tough shots all series. They've been going in occasionally, but 41% shooting in the Finals isn't good enough. He's gotta get better shots. He is the master of the tough-shot, but he's too good to constantly take them.
