The Los Angeles Lakers' victory in Boston in the NBA finals earned the highest television ratings for a Game 3 since 2004.

The Lakers' 91-84 win earned an 11.5 overnight rating, 14 percent better than the Lakers and Orlando posted in Game 3 last year. It was the highest-rated show on television Tuesday night, helping ABC win primetime.

Ratings measure the percentage of all homes with televisions tuned into a program. Overnight ratings represent the country's largest markets.

Your title is a bit ambiguous, it makes it sound like the one reason the game got these ratings was because the Lakers won.

Anyways, that's cool. I wonder how many casual fans will keep watching seeing how the game seemed to be pretty sluggish.

It was not my title. It was the AP's title.

Sorry, didnt mean to be an ***. I've just been doing a lot of linguistics lately and we've been focusing on ambiguous sentences, kinda hard to turn it off.

Hey thats why we're seeing Celtics-Lakers in the finals and not Suns-Magic. Ratings = money.

Good to hear. As much as I dislike these two teams from a fan standpoint, they are both excellent squads to represent the brand of the NBA to the world.

Same thing happened to me after I took a couple of linguistics classes. You don't even realize you're doing it until after the fact.

I saw the headline, top ratings. I thought it was ever. Since 2004, thats not a big deal.

Boston vs LA is the best rivalry in the NBA. This doesnt shock me. Plus there was really no competition Tuesday night. We should expect the same type of ratings tonight too
